  1. My lad and his mates went and stood with the Poole fans for a short time on bend one. They said it was a wild atmosphere. What other sport could you do that!
  2. It’s been well documented on here we get low hundreds each week. Last night was actually one of the better crowds this season.
  3. Easy win for Poole this one. I really can't see where the next win is coming from for the Brummies.
  4. I'm sure Nick Morris is in a pretty bad place at the moment. I'm not condoning anything, but considering he came off last week, I hope for his sake it is pain killers and nothing else.
  5. Get what you are saying Pete, but I paid £20 to get told the news just before tapes up. We deserve better.
  6. The sports governors could set a date for it to be enforced, giving people time to understand it and adapt. I don’t mean months, for example the 2025 season. I believe it’s needed so money can be invested elsewhere. Such as stand alone stadia and possibly short term cheaper admissions.
  7. I got the impression from the announcer it only went ahead as the kids just wanted to race. They gave it a good stab as well, unfortunately the constant drizzle and rain finished it off. No tannoy on bend one though, first time I've stood there and you can't hear anything.
  8. I think you have to sign up and create an account on EMTV
  9. From Tolley himself at the Aston manor cricket club meeting.
  10. It's a bit like Birmingham City closing and wondering why Aston Villa can't attract their floating supporters. Speedway is a club sport and only a small percentage will travel to a track just to watch a match. Which is why I've never understood, if for example a Rotherham speedway team was being investigated Sheffield would never allow it to get off the ground. Even if it mean't long term more fans through the gate. People I know from Solihull won't go as it's a Birmingham team, my friends don't come from Birmingham. Perhaps speedway a long time ago should have gone like county cricket and covered a larger area rather than stop neighbouring local clubs potentially opening.
  11. If the mangement walk... that wait may be permanent.
  12. The newbies I’ve been bringing for a few months now have started asking questions. One 14 year old asked “why do some riders ride for us one week, then for the other team the other weeks?” It really does feel like one or two riders have done that at PB this season so far. I haven’t checked but a youngster has picked up on something .
  13. To be honest buddy, I fell out of love with speedway years ago. I got fed up with our riders getting injured riding for someone else, leaving us having to use guests or R/R. I came back to the sport after covid to experience it’s now even worse, with everyone pretty much doubling up. I’m just enjoying the Brummies while they are around, if they close I won’t miss speedway. The sport has really lost its spark.
  14. The greyhounds as a business are in survival mode and are doing everything to generate revenue and maximise profits. Speedway on the other hand……
  15. Understand the sentiment, but this management team will be our last one. We should back them until they decide to go or get kicked by the stadium owners ( see Wolverhampton). I suspect we’ll close at that point.
  16. This has never worked. Cradley and Stoke for example. Eastbourne Dons, Scottish whatever, London lions, I’m sure there’s more.
  17. There will always be rich people with more money than sense. You only have to see the queues of people wanting to buy the next failing football club. Those young kids at Birmingham Uni could have been the next generation throwing their money into speedway.
  18. Additionally there’s an engineering college (Make U.K.), just across the road up Holford Drive. The place is full of well paid young apprentices from big local companies (Jag, Land Rover, Sertec), check out their website. BMW and West Midlands trains apprentices are based at James Watt campus Great Barr again well paid. Worth investigating surely as these kids have no commitments like adults with families.
  19. No9 has been a problem since 2007. Speedway fans are a fickle bunch on so many levels. Tell them to stand in a place they don’t like standing to get a view doesn’t help. Then the stadium owners build a bus shelter blocking one of the few viewing positions. The opening years people would stand 10 rows thick in front the starting gate unable to see through the tall geezers at the front as the ground is flat. The stadium just isn’t designed for speedway and it erodes away the enjoyment of those first experiences for new fans. I’ve introduced four regulars 14 year olds they do love it. They go to Arthur Terry Four Oaks Sutton Coldfield. There are glimmers of hope. Get some bikes in the school, they must talk about it.
  20. That we are “imminently” about to find out who our final rider is.
