  1. I can name six pubs off the top of my head in Birmingham and Solihull that went exactly the same way. It’s shocking how the law just lets it happen.
  2. This one? https://maps.app.goo.gl/3t3YLS6qnxS333E58?g_st=ic
  3. It doesn’t have to be the athletics track neither. Just use another part of the park.
  4. The Directors of Corbally Group are Irish, if you go to companies house.
  5. Exactly my thoughts, but see my post above with text taken from the article
  6. It says in the article the company with the current lease. taken from the article: As for the council's stance regarding the future of Perry Barr Stadium, a spokesman said: "The city council owns the freehold of the Perry Barr Greyhound Stadium, while the Corbally Group are the long-term leaseholders – so any redevelopment on the site must be agreed with the council as the landowner and through its planning process, in line with local and national policy.
  7. I’d like to know why the council lease the land to a property builder/speculator, then question why they want to build houses. I didn’t realise the greyhounds were sub-letters too.
  8. Of course, it’s guaranteed. I bet a different Danny King turns up as well.
  9. A few times this season, I’ve experienced a parade and warm up. Then a rider almost missing the two minutes for heat one. You’d think they’d be ready. You are then left waiting the full two minutes while three riders dig, have a chat, drink a beer, have a slash, polish their helmets, admire tattoos etc.
  10. Sometime back in the 90's, the old WTC 4TT format, the final was held at Coventry. I read, Saturday practice, the Danes, Swedes and the Americans were all there testing set ups, not one Brit turned up. We came last that year, absolutely tonked, fans blamed it on a smooth track set up for the Danes. The Speedway Star blamed it on lack of Brits getting the set ups right for the track. Perhaps it's work load, but I get what you are saying and kudos to those riders who want it and network with the promoters to get it.
  11. The Facenna‘s in my opinion are one of the best things to happen to Scottish and British speedway.
  12. It’s only another competition though and it should be allowed to evolve. Traditional speedway will still work alongside it. Fans will prefer one to the other, some may prefer both. Same with riders and promoters.
  13. You could even remove rider averages as a way of setting up a team. Pay riders all the same, but the winning team shares a winning bonus. All riders have the same machinery, transport and kit, so similar expenses. If the machinery is standard make it sit on and go etc. Riders sign up for a season at a time, with a pool of riders to cover injuries across the competition etc.
  14. The same bikes have worked on ice rinks. For me it’s exactly what you suggest, something that grabs imaginations and marketed. But, used alongside traditional speedway for us die hards.
  15. T20 was introduced in cricket to give it a different impetus. A different audience. Speedway has always been four laps, four riders, x number of heats, seven riders etc. why not just introduce a competition that changes all that. Create an environment that eliminates first out the gate, wins every race. Riders don’t have maximum rides one rider one bike per meeting change the point system etc introduce a nomad team for fans who don’t have a team to follow change to county teams anything.. what can we lose
  16. I don't know how long you have been watching speedway, but traditionally UK based riders are awful around Polish tracks. It's a completely different set up using different surface material. Likewise the Poles are pretty awful around ours. I used to wince watching the old 4TT format when our best at the time the likes of Screen, Dugard, Loram etc looked second rate on Polish soil. There's a lot to be said about coming second to Poland in Poland, that to me is a big achievement and it's pretty sad that because we didn't win all the toys come out the pram.
  17. We need to allow the 50% loss of skill and ability the instant they put on the Brummies bib.
  18. One more “ How come we’ve lost almost every match, yet commentator keeps saying we might make the play offs?” Now in the lads defence as a Brummies fan, it does feel a bit strange.
  19. I’ve introduced , this season, four almost five 15 year old lads, school mates of my sons. They enjoy speedway in its raw form. They are happy to go to every home meeting. I’m taking two to Cardiff too. The problem is the questions I get asked and I wince. Here are a few: 1. “How come their ( the opposition), number 1 and number 3 have raced for us this season?”. 2. “What’s the commentator mean by he is doing well riding for two teams as well as appearing for us occasionally?” 3. “Why is it every week I come it seems to be the same 14 riders but a different team?” 4. “Where’s Poole?”
  20. Reading the comments speedway needs to distance itself from animal sports. It will only end one way if speedway remains a tenant of greyhounds.
  21. I was thinking on the lines of a nomad club, tours the UK. Maybe plonk them in the league structure with a team, but don't use riders that we currently see week in week out. It may appeal to those fans that no longer have a club, give them a club to follow. The team that tours the UK, give them some mystery so fans have to work out who they are.
  22. I’ve often thought speedway could have a “barbarian” type team like rugby. Perhaps made entirely of riders not racing in the U.K.. perhaps even wearing all black almost unidentifiable. A try and beat ‘em competition.
  23. If speedway is a franchise business it needs to be run like one. Someone sets the direction and the franchise owners buy into that model. At the moment, everyone having a say just defeats the object of leadership and direction.
