Bumped into Nigel Tolley in Cardiff, very approachable. I got the feeling he’s in this for the journey and does have political support beyond the greyhound track if that goes.
-
Yes definitely. He questions the viability of Peterborough Speedway too! Pot kettle black.
-
He’s so disappointed he’ll insist on roads being called Mick Poole Way, Panthers Close etc etc.

There’s loads of other green spaces to build on. They should be asked why there? Why take away a useable facility when they could build that anywhere. create your 500 jobs by not taking away current jobs. keep the current 600,000 cars coming into the current facility and let the new one bring in as many somewhere else.
-
Didn’t The UAE pump shed loads of cash in via Etihad or something.
-
The unviable really needs to be shot down. How many sports clubs are profitable? Just about every sports club gets a benefactor’s money thrown at them. That doesn’t mean they should be built on.
-
Thanks. Do we know who owes it? If it’s the council it’s a potential plan B. If it’s private it might be the same people developing the showground.
-
Best course is to fight the showground being built on full stop. so what’s this at Fengate? https://maps.app.goo.gl/cELwrUmMtwFZFJn28?g_st=ic To me it just looks like another development opportunity waiting to happen if this is the place.

So again, like Wolverhampton et all, we have a perfectly usable facility we are fighting to keep. The sport then has to find/build another usable facility while the current one gets built on. It’s such a backward world. -
Does UK speedway need a new televised product?
Deano replied to truthsayer's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I agree. I think what also needs adding to your post is other U.K. promoters dictating when a track can and can’t run. We have so few fans attending I can’t for the life of me understand why with a 60 mil plus population to tap into, tracks can be dictated to! -

The points limit is suppose to level the playing field, yet we still see naff teams. A lot of fans walked when season after season their winning team was broken up. It also helps pull forward rider retirements. Perhaps it’s time to try a season without a points limit. -

Could there be something based the way formula one works. Say sixteen riders, two per team. Each team races a machine made and tuned by a different pit crew. Maybe have a round at each track in the U.K. -
Clubs that own their own tracks

I think that applies to a lot of commercial businesses. It does in Birmingham anyway, that way the council control re-development. Not sure which is best mind as in Sutton Coldfield our town centre is all freehold or leased by an old local charity. It’s difficult to develop as you need to get agreements across several owners. -
https://maps.app.goo.gl/ehpvQACfSGSnKH8j9?g_st=ic have a browse Steve. I remember the Victoria inn and the speedway garage.

Doubt it. Josh is good and I love it when he comes to PB, but he isn't a number one. -
