  1. Bad news yes and a disgrace, but, the stadium didn't come up with proper evidence to their claims by the sounds of it. Also doesn't this just mean it goes back to the appeal court, so any injunction could still get thrown out? The stadium owners had claimed that they had become immune from proceedings as the activities had been continuing for at least 20 years. However, Lord Neuberger said that the evidence “fell well short” of establishing this. He said that, when and if the matter goes back before the judge for further consideration, he should be entitled to consider whether to discharge the injunction and award damages for future nuisance instead.
  2. exactly there is (as we've seen before) the catch 22 scenario developing. Owner signals intention to sell and wants to find new land for stadium. Council says, you have a stadium and own the land, which we want to remain as a stadium, we don't want you anywhere else. Owner sells stadium and goes to council to ask for available land. Council says, you had a stadium, which we support and don't want houses, there is no land. You sold it to a developer who kicked out your team, not us. Developer flattens stadium and waits, team goes into permanent hiatus.
  3. If coventry can't see this issue through, then no team could in my opinion. The Ricoh could actually be an ideal short term stop gap if three years doesn't end up being long enough.
  4. It might help, it may not, to know that developers own most of the land surrounding urban conurbations. The whole green stuff surrounding Sutton coldfield, farmed by farmers for centuries have been owned by developers and speculators since brick built houses were invented. The land is leased off until eventually planning concent is given. It could go one of two ways, Oxford or be permanently leased like lots of other land.
  5. Probably best to wait an see what Mick Horton has to say. We all knew it was up for sale, so it should be no surprise it's finally been sold really.
  6. Have you PM'd the OP? Might get an answer quicker. Fingers crossed you get an answer before tomorrow.
  7. I guess even though it isn't a Rolo, you'd hope he doesn't read anything into it, and gives you a big shiner.
  8. I do like the idea of big clubs dropping the big guns when riding against a smaller club. Could bring back weekend racing at top level to help crowds when a smaller club is in town. Perhaps each club could be graded A or B for that purpose. I like the idea of more variety. Something that the Premier League tends to give.
  9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcvU3bYHUnA Gary Stead and Emil Kramer memories
  10. Probably like here, once used to it, everyone wants quality riders and won't turn out for anything less.
  11. There isn't that many "average" speedway supporters though.
  12. At the end of the day, Barker is looking for work for next season. Wouldn't begrudge the kid what ever he chose.
  13. Doubling up just makes the rider shortage worse. There wasn't a huge problem when it was first introduced, but now when one rider retires, two sometimes three team spots go. It was introduced as a disguise to help develop riders, but now it's the norm to fill empty places. The BSPA need to address the root cause of rider shortage, otherwise the situation will just implode on itself.
  14. Elite League - Birmingham Positive - The thrill of watching a really good close race. Negative - The atmosphere, to honest, it's dire 99.9% of the time. To the point where sometimes I really wish I hadn't bothered going as I just don't get any buzz from it.
  15. Speedway = Amateur Speedway = Childish Speedway gets what it deserves.
  16. GP's everytime. After the one off, I occasionally felt cheated as good riders dropped a chain and that was it, end of world final for them. oddly though, Tia winning the world championship has rekindled my brothers interest and he hasn't been since Tatum rode for Cov!
  17. Makes sad reading, always enjoyed and looked forward to my visits to Glasgow with the Brummies. The main stand had a good atmosphere. I would also include Berwick and Edinburgh in the same sentence.
  18. Is it just me that struggles with some journalists reports.. "He also insisted that the Elite League in England is not a much weaker than the rest of Europe." I mean... I felta Italiano readinga thata sentence.
  19. To be fair with Tai, his energy goes into his racing and obviously not out of his gob. Yeah yeah yeah....
  20. I guess you have evidence they were buzzing with charisma at such a young age? Or did the charisma come with experience.
  21. Is this the BBC's retaliation to the croppers mentioning the sport last week!!
  22. Struggled to get into the sport this year. Don't really miss it when I don't go. When I don't go I would forget about it, but for the odd mention on BRMB sports news. Since we went Elite League, it's lost it's mojo.
