Good post. That is exactly where I am. How I see it, from previous posters who know. Is the MCF give licence holders the same, but with less red tape and cost. If riders can hold an ACU and an MCF licence in motorcross, then I guess it will be same for speedway. SCB affiliated referees, could also be MCF affiliated referees. Perhaps the MCF speedway rule book will be a simple one pager, compared to the SCB one. Perhaps under the MCF there are more opportunities for profit from both riders and promoters? Perhaps we as customers won't even notice the difference between an SCB meeting and an MCF one. After all it'll still be speedway.

It looks good. That's usually as good as they get.

Fell into this trap myself when racing radio controlled cars over the UK years ago. Everyone wants the latest spec'd up piece of equipment and they raced it, I did the same. I left the sport for two years and came back. I raced against the same people with the latest spec'd up cars with my two year old car. I still beat them. Basically, it'll only be the big guys who will pinch and see the odd 0.25 seconds per race and benefit. National League, Premier League levels, keep it reliable, use decent parts and use your skill.

The ACU and the MCF do not see eye to eye. They are the same thing, just have different views/opinions. The ACU do the same with motocross as it is doing through the SCB with speedway. Motorcross under the ACU was in decline and got stale. The MCF came along had new ideas and relaunched motorcross under a different name. It is basically the same thing, bikes going around in circles, jumping and racing. The same riders race in either organisation, dependant on what licence they hold. So what did the MCF do to motocross that suddenly draws in a global sponsor, in big arena's and has taken motorcross into the 21st Century. The ACU version of motorcross is still in decline as it was before the MCF came along. Could Speedway with the MCF backing/help knowledge on growth go the same way? that is the point we are making. What do we have to lose. The ACU/SCB have dismissed it though... just how they dismissed the MCF at motorcross. Who's laughing at who in motorcross circles now? Will we see another boom in our sport under the ACU? Will we see it under the MCF? Who knows, but is the current situation likely to get us there?
-
BSPA not getting a cut perhaps? Under the illusion they own the rights to Speedway under the ACU/SCB. Think they have a monopoly and using the threat of black listing clubs and riders if they take part? Smacks of "Old Gentlemans Club" attitude.
-
So, they have hit middle ground as an experiment to get in on the sport. Why do a BSI at Reading, when you can lose at lot less at Premier League level if it goes wrong. Premier League is potentially more cost effective as an experiment. It may not appeal to the Elite League snob, but could grab just as many fans. Where have they said that? I thought it was us on here that said it's illegal to withold trade and the MCF have used and proved it is the case in motocross. Point me to a link if they have said it. It'll be interesting. Remember the MCF is the same as the SCB, just not recognised by the ACU, which appears to mean jack do dah from a legal perspective as proven.
-
Of course. If it was Brian Pissweed 12, credit Card Max'ed Avenue, Grimsby. These people at the MCF are a bit different, they have different ideas which they have used in other motorcycle sports, with friends in big companies. How many friends does the current SCB have? I'm not talking promotors own companies. When was the last time the BSPA got a big global company on board? That is evidence the MCF are not amateurs.
-
Why even mention about paying the bills? You brought their ability to pay bills into question no one else. You are happy with speedways current direction then I guess?
-
No different to the current speedway set up then? Except it took years for the BSPA to get the sport to the dizzy heights it is today.
-
The BSPA can't stick together for their own version of "for the good of the sport". So what chances are there for them sticking together on this one.

No Gps On Sky Television Next Year?
Deano replied to The White Knight's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Remember 'LOST'.... you'd think SKY would learn. -
Precisely. If the financial sum of the MCF is greater than the BSPA....
-
That won't happen, like I said. It is different. I get the impression it will be illegal to try and stop riders from riding in an MCF event by banning them from riding for the SCB. Why have they made in roads in other sports? That's the difference. Manchester United could tell Rooney quite legally, you work for us son, no one else. At the end of the day it's the BSPA's loss.
-
Of course not, football is different, Rooney is employed by Manchester United, he gets a wage. Just like every other football player. So how many speedway riders are employed and paid a weekly wage by a speedway club? Do speedway clubs own the stadiums they race in? A few, but not many, most are leased. It's very different.
-
Fortunately the promotion has time on their hands with the current economy. Therefore a good opportunity to make sure those t's are well and truly crossed.
-
Really.... apparently not, only under the ACU. To the rest of your post, I'd want to maximise my investment and if one one of these guys came along and offerred me money to use my track then I'd make a decision on whether to hire it out, take a percentage or go into some other business arrangement. What makes the BSPA think the self employed riders are their property? The BSPA pay insurance to who? The SCB? Why not go to MCF then if they are cheaper? Obviously Steve you think speedway just can't get any better. What would happen if MCF started to lure new promotions and some current ones away from the ACU to start their own league? With the promise of lower insurance, lower running costs and a big league sponsor? Think about it, I bet your team would be right on the band wagon.

1) Viabilty - Depends on how the speedway fans take to it. At the moment it looks like a GP format individual event based entirely in the UK. 2) Promotion - It's being backed by a reletively new type of organisation, that to be honest seems to be able to pull in the crowds. What they choose to do differently with the current speedway format or keep it as it is I don't know. Perhaps they will use similar techniques to get the crowds in, that they have done with motocross. 3) Locations - They currently appear to want to use existing cicuits, but there attemps with motorcross seems to extend to bigger arena's. If they could do this for speedway! 4) Sponsorship - Well, Red Bull is with them. Perhaps speedway is next. 5) Future - What do we have to loose. Speedway is dying and getting boring on terraces. There's no atmosphere. Something like this may pull in more punters once they realise there is a track by them that rides league speedway. Techniques the new organisation use could be used by the BSPA. 6) Disruptions to domestic league - Can't see why it would, it may mean some riders getting more rides and knocking one of the continent leagues on the head. Plying there trade more here, rather than abroad. All that depends how the series takes off and how they get paid. Just a thought. I'm thinking the MCF, the way it originally came about, would have been as welcome as a fart in a space suit on the motocross scene. They new though the product they had, would eventually come out better and competitors would step across. What they are seeing from the SCB and the BSPA is nothing they haven't seen before. SCB and BSPA have had a monopoly on the sport for many years and fans are running away from the sport in droves. This is just another form of competition that they have never had, competition creates variety and I'm convinced my favourite sport will be better for it.
-
Probably slightly guilty of that myself... sorry...
-
. I agree, there is though more to the meaning of the word "encouragement". The 30 mile rule, doesn't encourage and neither does the self interest that lies within the BSPA. Which is why this fresh set of ideas looking in should be given thought.
-
Simple question... Then why not put the denial on the 'official website' too? Please point me to the denial on the official facebook page, I've looked and can't find it, although that could be down to me?
-
A missed opportunity I'd call it, if it were to be dropped now. Just think in three years, we could have seen a UK speedway series sponsored by Red Bull. But hey ho this is speedway, we deserve what we get really.
-
They wouldn't they have a business to run, bills to pay and a governing body that wishes to be involved. Lets hope some common sense is used. The last thing we want is a Rugby Union and Rugby League type split in speedway.
-
So the track could then be forced to run under the other organisation? If Six tracks were expelled for doing this event, they'd run their own mini league not under the SCB/ACU. If fans see it as being better speedway... more would/could jump? Best to negotiate with these people, us as fans can only win surely? We've been asking for a while for a fresh set of eyes and ears to step in and run something.
-
Pretty well explained there JL. Can't disagree with it neither.

lol.... Stansolo'd has the same effect on me!
