  1. Never been to an amateur meeting, but if what you are saying is true then the BSPA should be looking at ways to make more people access league racing. Lets promote a system that encourages the semi proffessional rider, with reduced cost machinery that this thread talks of. This could draw more local riders, ones who are Tesco stackers by day and the clubs 2, 6's and 7's by night. If it means scrapping points limit and averages to maintain team consistency then so be it. The richest clubs always seem to end up a the top end of the league anyway. Poor clubs just end up paying a wage they can't afford if they have the misfortune to end up doing well! lol.
  2. I was of the understanding it will be owned by a consortium of previous sponsors. Mole would be a co-promoter and play a relatively small part, but an important enough role to help co-ordinate a revival. Therefore, nothing for him to sell on, but a huge amount of goodwill should come with his name linked to the business.
  3. Great to see the Birmingham "B" back on track again. Thank you to Cradley for giving us the opportunity. Enjoyed it, although it was cold.... I wonder how long it has been, prior to last night, a full 15 heats has been raced between these two teams?
  4. Seems odd how the commitee were allowed to vote on something that ultimately the commitee were confused what the applicant was asking for. Perhaps this should make an appeal easier to plan. Simple one liners in the next application. "I want an extension to the curfew"
  5. Why stop at Berwick? March down to Cumbria, Tyne and Wear then onto Teeside......
  6. But Scotland helped crank up the debt? It'll be up for negotiation, it won't be used as a threat.
  7. I hope it isn't the man in bold, if it is I can't believe he'd have the cheek to try again. Anyway, I'll hold my hands up as you will know more about the commercial running of speedway more than I'll ever know. Fingers crossed you'll be making the trip to brum again next season (be good to catch up again ) the good news is both fanchises working together for one goal. Just for food for thought though, Tony Mole bought the rights to Birmingham Speedway while it was at the wheels project and he closed it at the end of the season. Someone somewhere may have done the same when Milton Keynes folded.
  8. This is the reason why I love speedway. Not just for the excitment of racing, but the way fans want to help out at every opportunity.
  9. I would have thought that if the MDL team were leasing the name "knights" and they would have had permission from the BSPA to run a speedway franchise, then the BSPA would be aware of that set up. Then in another conversation the new separate promotion have had talks with the BSPA to open a new track. Therefore in conclusion the BSPA must have known both parties. Unless I'm missing something?
  10. Yes it is a bit confusing isn't it. Someone somewhere owns the rights/licence to run Milton Keynes Speedway possibly since it's demise in 1993, but, not necessarily the rights to use the term "Milton Keynes knights" as this appears to be owned by someone else (the chapmans maybe?). It does appear odd why one didn't know of the others existance, as they both must be known by the BSPA.
  11. Reading the trip advisor reviews mate, I think they are fortunate not to be offerred any food or drink lol.
  12. It was a meeting put on to give Oxford and Birmingham fans some publicity on their quest to return. It was probably a quickly hashed together meeting as I understand CVS would have only been approached a few weeks back by the Birmingham Speedway Supporters Club. He obviously supported such an idea, but these things need to be additional funds to a promotion not substitutional. It also needed to happen while the blood in the Brummies team was still warm. Good on CVS for chancing it, perhaps if the fixture had been in from the start of the season then more riders could have been available, but in truth we really didn't expect to fold. Seems logical to include Cradley and Wolves in the line up, but at such short notice this is what we got.
  13. Great offer by CVS to give us Brummie fans some exposure. I won't be missing this one.
  14. Apart from the copper being there, everything went to plan really. You played a big part in the planning Peter and I know everyone is very grateful for the "James Bond" style surveillance you put forward lol.
  15. Interesting. So who previously did you think had these skills? Do I assume it's the people you mentioned in your previous post?
  16. Nigel speaks some sense when it comes to the concept of selling speedway in Birmingham. When you have Poole who have been going for yonks, Wolverhampton who have been going for yonks along with Cov, then there is Birmingham where most of the city can't remember it. So perhaps those in Birmingham judge it against all other current attractions that are perhaps more with it and upto date. If speedway feels twenty years out of date, the new fans won't come back in their droves.
  17. Promoters are already being hit in the pockets by dwindling attendances. That should be enough to kick off a change in direction. If they aren't changing now, then a boycott certainly isn't going to work.
  18. I didn't suggest 24/7, you don't know what story he has told the police about a potentially nasty biker community. The guy is a born gain fibber, I can't for the life of me think a brummies fan would actually tip him off (in all honesty I don't want to believe it neither). Unless just maybe he was telling the truth, but I can only assume.
  19. If Cardiff kicked speedway out, I'm sure fifteen or twenty years after, the same posts from the then older generation will be saying the same thing.
  20. lol, you're on a hiding to nothing mate. If you can translate gibberish then your ahead of me. You'll never get a straight answer, one has to question why? He knows his history, just something happens between brain and fingertips trying to put it into words. Que more gibberish and lots of quoting and re-quoting himself.
