Worryingly they don't need existing stadia to do that. They could build a track in the middle of nowhere and just run it 24x7. Perhaps that's their long term aim, but I feel more stadia under them will get sold once they realise this.

Anyone one know how much in total speedway has received from TV since SKY took it on? I'm guessing it might have been enough to have bought a few stadia.

Can any other professional sport in the UK claim to have lost as many teams over the past 70 years that speedway has? Can any other professional sport in the UK claim to be as poor at ensuring and securing its long term survival than speedway?

I’ve done it myself, just take a break from speedway, forums come back refreshed one day. Time heals and fingers crossed your health recovers too. All the best whatever you decide.

Speedway isn’t going to die that easily in Birmingham. We beat the council to get permission in 2007 we can beat this bump in our history.

A change of name to the Birmingham Heathens, could draw in the Cradley Promoters. This was mentioned in the meeting. To be honest though this is where speedway fails as you just alienate everyone. The Scottish Monarchs, London Lions, Poole Wildcats, Eastbourne Dons all had a limited time in the sport. There are more. like Workington, we need a field!

It’s not that simple. Why should an Indian or Bangladeshi or anyone else from those parts not from Pakistan find it acceptable to be called a Pakistani when they aren’t? Those countries do not get on. Many Irish whether on holiday in Europe or the commonwealth get called Brits. Mainly through appearance and shared language, lots find it offensive but put up with it.

There was plenty of talk about the rent increase, it seems with the chinese now enjoying greyhounds being beamed across the world, stadium owners no longer have to open up shop in order to make a money. So perhaps long term, stadium owners want 100% stadium availability for around the clock greyhounds, at a few select stadiums.

Well the room was full, standing room only. Very promising, but no purchase has been agreed. Nigel seems a decent guy a speedway fan and businessman. The 1,000 break even is a challenge which is driven by the rent increase. There is a share option for fans of which I’m happy to chip in

That’s awful and I’m sorry to read that. Stadium owners can be very thick when it comes to hospitality.
