  1. There is some footage from the Shay on Roy Nicol's Aces of Yesteryear part 2.
  2. I support all the British lads when it comes to SGP or SWC whether I happen to like the rider or not. Back in the 70's and 80's even though I was at King's Lynn most weeks, I was never a Dave Jessup fan, but always supported him at World Championship level. Nobody suffered as much bad luck as he did. I like Scott, he's no angel and may or may not be a future world champion. I don't like Andersen as a person, but acknowledge that he is at the moment one of the best riders in the world.
  3. I have a KC Racing coat - not the silky version. Thinking of putting it on e-bay.
  4. Was he the deaf and dumb lad who used to ride for Boston. His name rings a bell.
  5. A few years ago Worcester was mentioned, anyone know what happened to that idea.
  6. ..and the pitch is going to stretch over the track soon as well. Sorry to say but Allan Ham exhausted the local area in search of a new site.
  7. Can anyone update me on what former Mildenhall and Boston rider Dave Jackson is up to nowadays, also former Boston and Oxford Junior Nigel Greenhalgh.
  8. A story has already been carried in the Scunthorpe Telegraph that he is riding for us from September. If that is the case then all of a sudden the Scorpions look very powerful.
  9. ... and Scunthorpe as it happens, but I'll believe it when it happens.
  10. Josh can ride Conference in september, but cannot sign professional terms until September 2006. The rumour is, and this is only a rumour, that Coventry are favourites to sign him.
  11. The local council are going to look absolute plonkers if they turn down the speedway. Having fought one corner at a public enquiry they are gonna look stupid if they do an about turn. Having said that the council has changed from Labour to Tory, but to build houses on the site, the local plan will need amending, most councils are due to revise their plans over the next three to four years. I go past Station Road most weeks (as the wifes family live in Long Eaton) and to get the track ready for 2006 work needs to start now.
  12. Yet another meeting in my archives I have just had another look at.
  13. LOL Kye is now using the full family surname Dusher-Norton.
  14. Ted was well-spoken and a pleasant guy. A very 1950's style announcer, the last I saw of him was in 1989 at Wimbledon.
  15. Of the current lot, Shaun Leigh takes some beating as an anouncer and as far as presenters go, Craig Saul is very good. The worst - Dave Willsher ex-Rye House and I have to say worst presenter, well you try enduring Terry Hardaker week afetr week.
  16. Sold their stadium toi Barretts. Do they still use that awful marching music, play the national anthem and does the first aiders still salute whilst it's being played.

    Belle Vue

...and that was the first half of a double header, the second meeting was rained off. I have the 1986 BLRC on video - there is plenty of footage around if you look. Isn't Buxton a scaled down version of Belle Vue?
  18. ...aint one of them Thommo?
  19. Wasn't that the Intercontinental?
  20. QPR football club had two spells at White City and you may be interested to know that there are proposals to build a new stadium at White City adjacent to the old place to house Fulham F.C.
  21. I remember Boston's crowds in the 70's and early 80's being very large and by the mid 80's dropping below 500 for some meetings. To be honest it's amazing they can run conference now. At one meeting I went to last year I did a count of heads and struggled to get to three figures. Mildenhall v Boston is supposedly one of the better crowds at West Row, but I must say the crowd for that fixture was very low in comparison to the days of National League racing when the place used to be packed. The sport has supposedly hit the big time again, but in all honesty I reckon most tracks are not far off having all time low attendances. The only track that I went to regularly and saw the attendance grow was Bradford. Terrible crowds to start with, but the Ham Brothers put their money where their mouths were and the crowds came back. The sport could really do with having the Hams back in the sport as promoters, IMO they were the best. I have nothing but admiration for those running at a loss.
  22. You'll hate another one before long as well. Another track could be under threat from Rugby.
