I've been trying to keep out of this! As an old West Ham supporter I have a lot of sympathy with those who say our Sverre was the greatest ever . He wasn't of course, but it certainly seemed like it every week at Custom House. I don't think Sverre knew where the inside of the track was or even the middle. For some reason it seemed as though he had to ride with his handlebars touching the fence every race. It was not only spectacular but it worked as he beat all the visiting stars. But, sadly, the greatest ever, I don't think so... I dont think i ever said he was the best ever (perhaps around Custom House). Just the most exicitng! CHK wrote:

In the second half at West Ham in the 60s they used to have Handicap races for the junior riders :!: looking at my old progs i found number of races eg Grand six lap elimination handicap 27th sept 1966 R Mike Stevenitt scr B Don Smith 10yds W Reg Trott 10yds Y&B Brian leonard 30yds G&W Molly Simmons 30 Yds Result B Y&B W Time 116.2

In the 60s, at Cutom House, they used to run 5 rider races in the second half of the meetings, with a green and white helmet colour :!: I'm shure this would be a better option than green and save all the mix up with the now mostly yellow helmets. What happend to Yellow and Black :?: To keep on thread what about coloured HB covers
