  1. That's the problem if you've only encountered 21st century UK speedway. The crowds are lacking in enthusiasm and also very low - chicken & egg? In the 70's and 80's riders got stick because they were good and rode for the opposition. I'd boo with the rest of them but I'd still be in the pits chasing after autographs. The riders were in on it too and some played the game brilliantly adding to the whole event. I'm not advocating WWE style antics but more of Wednesday's interaction between riders and crowd would be great for the sport imo. Tai let it get to him and many did back then in the heat of the moment, it's his comments on social media when the dust has settled that surprised people. The PC brigade have worked their spell on a sport as rough and tumble as ours and now there's no real villains - manufactured or not. Our sport with its 60 second rush of adrenalin is made for such characters. Imo.
  2. At least Tai can get a job as a spy when he hangs up his kevlars. If he can pick out one or two knob heads allegedly giving him grief about his Dad whilst on a motorbike with a helmet on and a few thousand fans shouting "who r yer" at the top of their voices then he could pick out vital secrets in various locations around the world. The only thing that would stop him is if it's all BS from the ringers apologists.
  3. Belle Vue would have finished top on points difference even if the ringer had been in the side the night we beat them. The Aces topped the table for an incredible 12th time in their history, far more than any other club. I think Cookie should have taken a more laid back approach to the incident. Like Jason Doyle is doing right now in hospital.
  4. I use to love Telford with riders backing it in or messing up on bends 2 or 4. Since its demise Wolves fits the bill perfectly so for that reason I hope they stay.
  5. You couldn't pat me on the head whilst giving me a sugar lump just to complete the picture. Oh and a drink in a none spill cup.
  6. I remember Klindt reporting in the star about Leicester riders not being paid a few weeks back. As captain he has to sign a report for the referee to indicate if they have been paid or not. What's the time limit on payment? That night, the next day, a week or 28 days? I'm just trying to see if there has been a misunderstanding with these "in the know" types, as I can't see them maliciously spreading rumours. There was a minor ex ace spouting off a while back but he had an axe to grind and I think everyone took it with a pinch of salt at the time.
  7. The Swindon team spoke out and protested that resulted in an Aces win a while back. Just recently Lindback refused to ride for his Swedish team over money. If it's an issue they speak out.
  8. When I'm making a purchase, going for a meal or visiting some other establishment I like many others check out the web for information. Only the other day I backed off making a purchase after reading information on a website. Any would be sponsor of this great sport of ours would do the same and with little in the way of impartial web information would end up on Facebook, Twitter or here. What do you think these potential investors would think when there is continual reference to financial irregularities by their would be benefactor? If there is substance to these rumours then to keep on and on about it on THE UK speedway fan site is crazy. Sure it makes you look big and clever but just think of the bigger picture for once. The fact that nobody including riders have come out and said anything concrete makes me doubt it validity. So this then makes it all the worse to have tittle tattle parading as fact mentioned time and time again on every thread they can. What's in it for you and more importantly what's in it for the sport?
  9. Up to the 20th of June we had rode 8 away and only 4 at home so it could have been a struggle. However up to the corresponding date last season we rode 9 away and 4 at home but somehow in a stadium with higher rent and no sundry income we coped better? The team was pretty much the same too. People might say that we had the Craven to refund but we had pages and pages on here saying it hadn't been refunded. In addition to all this the crowd numbers are double those of last year. If we could manage last year we can certainly manage this year. Sorry to introduce logic and facts into a rumour fuelled topic. I'm almost expecting a warning from the mods as it seems these two things are frowned upon on here. P.S. Still waiting to here anything of substance from these "in the know" types.
  10. What did you hear? You can PM me if you lack confidence in your rumours having substance. Cheers mate.
  11. The best prepared award is for things like kick boards, white line, track surface. It is absolutely not a vote for most entertaining circuit or best track for exciting racing. I'm guessing any passes last night where on the inside? If so I'd be issuing fines.
  12. Going against the grain here are a few facts. It's considerable cheaper to run speedway at the NSS when compared to the dog track. We now have the highest attendances in British speedway with an average of 2500 without taking into account the 6000 on Wednesday. We now keeps all bar, food and parking revenue. In 2014 we had 14 nights of speedway due to running two double headers. Average crowds were around the EL norm of 1000. 2014 1000 x £17* x 14 = £238k plus extra for double headers = £245k 2016 (EL only and not taking into account monies from Colts, shared events and SWC and income streams mentioned above) 2500 x £19* x 15 = £712.5k Wednesday will be 6000 x 19 = £114k Total is near to £600k up on 2014 but with cheaper operating costs. Just to play devils advocate. If you want to half our figures and take off £150k for the Craven fiasco then we're up only £206k Hope it helps. *Average of Adults, concessions & kids. To the poster who said the stadium is half empty every meeting, it's not as that would be 3000. We are not averaging that - yet.
  13. On the subject of referees I just want consistency across the board. Everyone then would now where we stand. If you lock up in front of a rider who subsequently falls then exclude the rider behind (Ellis) or the rider in front(Nicholls) not both. Like wise if you move at the start you get warned and on your third warning you're out (Cook) don't just let it drag on (Everyone else) or if you do, do it for everyone. There are loads of other anomalies and perhaps using instances involving Aces riders it's the best as those tend to be somewhat skewed anyway. You even get discrepancies in the same meeting where a ref will seem to pay back a team after making a dodgy decision against them.
  14. Rumour is Fords packing in at season's end. It's been an trying year due to the expensive squad he's been running plus "sundry" expenses. Like 2009 he's not happy about cash flow as a play off final is a must not a perk. The redevelopment issues only and to the rumours. Much as people go on I wouldn't like them to shut. Just hope that they can continue next season in some form or other.
  15. A promotion that could deliver an improved customer experience with a clean environment and excellent viewing. Provide a superb race strip that has magnificent racing. Work hard to minimise annoying rain offs. Build an entertaining successful team with up and come Brits and a GP star. Work with other speedway organisations to bring big world events to us deserving supporters. Increase crowd levels by over 100% I could go on with my list of dreams, maybe a training centre to help find the next UK champ, but in this day an age and the state current of speedway - no chance, surely.
  16. Maybe the UK should charge a notional training fee that only needs paying when riders turn their backs on us. If not the poles could take on these raw young lads and put them through their version of MDL - NL - PL - EL
  17. So Poole didn't like the form of Andersen so said he had a long term injury to get Lindback in on a weirdly low re assessed average. Then they were worried about Pedersens form so rested him in favour of a stronger replacement. After signing Lindback his form took a knock and this coupled with being at a track he won't score well at decided to rest him in favour of R/R. Meanwhile just four days after Lindbacks debut, long term injury victim takes to the track, beating opponents in the process. If this was the plot of a work of fiction it would be laughed off for being too outlandish. Funny and sad at the same time.
  18. In a way I'm an example of a fan deciding not to attend anymore. I use to go to all Aces away fixtures, open meetings, fixtures from other leagues and if I was in a particular part of the country with a track an hour or so away I'd pay it a visit. I watch 20-30 less meetings now as a result of the cheating etc that goes on. I'd never think of penalising Belle Vue so I have a season ticket and go to every match apart from the play offs, I've never seen one as it doesn't fit right so I give them a wide berth. I was interested in the post from a Poole fan saying crowds in 2003 were around 4000 put now they are half that. Even Poole fans can't stomach what Fraud gets up to and it was around then that his modus operandi kicked in (2004 to be exact, remember "self confessed cheat" Matt Ford). True fans can see the damage he does to the club and the sport as a whole, save for a few devote followers. I think I'm correct in stating the Ford is the least successful Poole promoter in terms of bums on seats. Great shame.
  19. Do Poole have year bars for hanging on their cheating scumbag badge?
  20. Must be, Hans is out with an injured hand.
  21. I think all the fans who continually go on about the spaced out fixture list and demand weekly speedway will turn up, won't they!
  22. Looks like Poole have new sponsors lined up. http://www.heritage-envelopes.co.uk/
  23. The joker doesn't overly bother me and having any system to keep meetings close is fine by me. I think a rider finishing second should score less than the winner but the thing for me is the fact the new tr just hoodwinks us poor fans once again. I use to love the hush that came over the crowd as a tactical was announced. Coming out in yellow and black is....... Ivan Mauger/Ole Olsen/Eric Gunndersen/Hans Nielsen. It gave us an extra chance to see these guys in racing mode. As was shown both systems have an equal impact on results but one gave the option of seeing extra track time to star riders. The new system short changes us in comparison so that's my only gripe.
