  1. Seems buzz got injured playing golf whilst trying to get his mind off his injured Dad. 💩
  2. With their big home advantage Poole will win this one. I don't envisage a track requiring throttle control like last time and I think the regular gate and go type fare which is the norm down there will see them trump The ®aces.
  3. Why did Wolves run a double header and why do Belle Vue have five home matches in 16 days then 1 in the following three weeks?
  4. "Problems are not stop signs, they are guidelines". May your passage be peaceful my friend.
  5. When a clubs comes up for sale any current promoter would make a financial decision on the likelyhood to make a success out of it. Fords assessment of his own ability to run Belle Vue successfully is indicated by the fact he didn't jump at this diamond in the big city and stuck with his seaside town club. There were numerous issues at the velodrome during its infancy. The Glasgow promotion are an embodiment of the phrase, if you want to make a million in (speedway) start with two million.
  6. No problem. I was going to hook you up with the butchers daughter who works in a pub, she's a right goer. I'll have a rethink.
  7. Good luck to the lads, I hope they win. Giving this one a miss as Poole are back in a couple of weeks and it looks like we've qualified already.
  8. Yes we don't want to meet Wolves, we'd be better off against Swindon or Kings Lynn. 🤔
  9. I spoke to the management tonight and if you contact them and tell them what's what you won't have an issue. Come say hello if you visit and we can have a pint if you're allowed.
  10. Does it matter? I've done some calculations and think we can still qualify for the play offs. That's still the aim isn't it?
  11. I'll have to get a job in security as it looks like I have the necessary skills. 😏
  12. Thanks. I think you'll enjoy it on here and there's plenty going on in this NL section to keep you interested Out of interest, what were you doing to prompt the security staff to approach you and start reading out the dos and don'ts?
  13. I take it you didn't like the dreadful motorway traffic when going to Hyde Road either? Dog not welcome. Clutching at straws here me thinks. Food and drink issue covered by other posters. I need more information about security as I've only had my bag searched and they've helped me with a couple of things. I always have a laugh with the regular guy on my block. I've found if I behave then I don't notice them. You mustn't like Wolves and other such tracks where parts of the stadium are out of bounds? Some air horns are ok. There were plenty at the SWC. The crowd was as you would get for an NL meeting anywhere and the atmosphere was down to that. This is not unique to the NSS. Aside from the smoking (thank god) and the butties your Hyde Road paragraph describes the recent SWC well though it was actually better. You could even have a go a Ole again! Great shame you won't be visiting again but many thanks for sharing. Welcome to the forum as well, at least you NSS experience saw you sign up to share your views. Hope you enjoy it.
  14. Everybody can agree with that but unfortunately us fans are in the hands of the promoters. Jokers, copious amounts of guests, poor track prep leading to cancellations, the play offs, crazy fixture planning, nonsense rules the list goes on of loss making decisions (both in terms of money and crowds) that us poor few have to endure as we cling on to the sport we love. Like you say I'm all about the 60 seconds of adrenalin fuelled action. Block out the rest and it's as good as ever.
  15. The Swindon meeting will have to be part of a double header as we have five meetings scheduled over the next three weeks and the last Friday (16th) that we have tbc, Swindon are away at Lakeside. It might come to awarding Swindon the four points but I don't think Lakeside would be to pleased about it. This happened many years ago when the Aces could have qualified for the play offs but they had a match outstanding at Peterborough. Matt Ford on behalf of the BSPA put a statement out saying it was tough and they were going ahead with the top four at the time. I don't think that would happen again, well unless The Aces are in fifth ever again.
  16. The £180000 Glasgow paid was only for the electronic bill boards according to the Star.
  17. I'm glad that we can finally agree that the effect of the play offs on crowd size can be gauged by comparing levels before and after their introduction. We needed this kind of analysis to finally put to rest these perennial for and against spats. Whilst I'm happy for the Swedes I have to admit to being gutted for us Brits. I guess it shows the "one size fits all" policy doesn't alway pay dividends. Thanks for the information especially as it leaves you open to abuse from the usual suspects.
  18. http://www.bellevueaces.co/newsitem.aspx?id=1863 Apology from Belle Vue website. Tickets can used whenever or a full refund.
  19. It think they realised they weren't needed, or at least the cost and faff wasn't warrented for the NSS. John paid stadium rental whether we rode or not and that's where the vast majority of the quoted 3K went. We do not have that problem.
  20. Not touchy at all so it's yet another thing you've made up. Personally I prefer riders using foreign leagues to try out their fitness after injury, that way when they are shown to be still unfit it doesn't impact our league. To suggest young Max would willing miss meetings is cr$p. He would ride twice a day everyday at this point in his career. Talk about kicking a man when he's down. Disgusting, you should be ashamed.
  21. Probably - what a useful word for some. The irony of this post is almost poetic.
  22. I wonder how rolling averages would work with him. You sign him on his near 8 he rides a match or two, he gets a new low average then you strength up to your new team total.
