Belle Vue v Swindon 14/5/18 BT Sport
ouch replied to Rob B's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Whilst watching this back I was reminded about the RR in heat one that I’d like to gauge opinion on. It’s my belief that if you are running RR and one of your reserves needs to take one of the rides, you always run the reserve in heat one as it gives him a go on the track and (hopefully) an advantage in heat two. Mark doesn’t do this and I’d be interested what other fans thought. -

£10 a tickets is the way to go. If two adults aged 18 and over and two adults aged 17 could get in for only £40, the place would be rammed. Missed opportunity. -

Quality rider. I think he will up his 7.26 starting average.

Looking at the other fixtures that night, if I couldn’t get to the NSS I’d stay home and watch the tele. -
Steve’s replacements have so far averaged 5.00 so it’s down on his start average of 6.77. In his two competed meetings Steve averaged 8.00 but this isn’t really indicative of his expected season long form as this was against the best team in the league.

That look was carried over from the refs blunder in Ht 13. It’s still there now. Unbelievable. -

The problem is as I’ve said before, people don’t like speedway. Belle Vue have tried everything under the sun over the last decade or so but to no avail. A nationwide promotional push might help but I can’t see it happening. If you need an indicator of how difficult it is to pull punters in just think of your circle of friends be it 20, 50, 100 or more, then try and coax them along and then see how many out of those that actually come, return on a regular basis. This is friends asking friends not just some ad in the paper so the chance of success are far greater. See how it goes and report back. -
UK gating championship due to its location. Might as well do flying laps. Zzzzzzzz

If we were talking the away leg then Klindt would be fine due to his gating but at the NSS he will be picked off for fun. After all the calls to pick Auty he’ll probably pick him at Wolves lol. Aces rarely do well in two leg ties as Wolves just ramp up their already massive home track advantage. If it’s dry, dusty and difficult to pass they will likely win today. If we have a more normal circuit then the FTG Wolves will make for an entertaining meeting, especially for super seven ride Dan. Oh no he can’t now after the latest rule change. -
Fixed race nights... early indications!!!

The big problem with speedway and it’s difficult for us to understand is that people don’t like speedway. We’ve all had the “is that still going” chat and even with that they don’t come again. Similarly I have mates that I keep asking to come along without success. Belle Vue have done school visits, work visits, radio adverts, city wide posters, been on both local evening news channels, been on Sky, ran cheap entrance meetings both Aces and Colts, we’ve been in shops, we’ve had posters for fans to give out, the list goes on and on but people just look and think it’s not for them. The demographic of fans is and has always been the most precarious as once money gets tight then speedway or similar is the first to go. Multi channel tv and the screen society has diverted their attention way from a night at the speedway. Dont get me wrong though the powers that be have done a great job of turning away fans, a mind boggling achievement in my eyes. 2000-3000 crowds are still possible as we had only two decades or so ago, if the current group of promoters stop being dicks. -
You just need to get Ronnie Allen back in the box.

Heh heh, I think for a laugh heh heh if he falls off and goes to the medical staff heh heh to get signed out of the meeting heh heh they should refuse heh heh.

British u21 final Berwick may 1st 7pm
ouch replied to soupy's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
It’s a WWE style of manufactured excitement. Speedway is generally very very boring and rather than look into changing that they just tag on a win takes all final. The heats last night felt like a box ticking exercise to get us to the semi and final. It was a truly awful experience. -
or generator.

I couldn’t work out why they changed the rule from 4h + 4a to rolling averages. Looking at the latest set of averages the only real big change is super seven ride Dan has been moved up from reserve. I think it makes us weaker - which is probably the point.
-
Great match again with plenty of exciting heats and all run in a quick and efficient manner. I handed in my form to join the new supporters club, sounds good. The seven day thing was implemented last year just to have another pop at The Aces. Even though it’s now in the rule book it wont be used, well not until another pop is required.

Excellent meeting with plenty to entertain, especially in the second part. Some real close encounter racing with skilful control on display. Love The Colts, if you’ve not been, go.
