  1. When we opened we had a lot of old fans return. They begrudgingly gave the play offs a go even though they didn’t much care for them. When Tai was drafted in for the play offs that saw a Wolves victory the old school don’t see it as the sporting contest from years ago. Now it’s just an occasional fun night, not to be taken seriously and this has led to fans drifting away again. The joker didn’t help either. If you had a time machine and you went back and told a fan how the sport would end up and how it would be run, they wouldn’t believe you. Seeing it unfold with my own eyes, I still find it unbelievable.
  2. Yes, but I mean as part of the meeting where scores count. In most cases like the meetings last night the other three laps are pointless.
  3. With gate & go being the norm at over half the Prem circuits and a pretty big part for the rest, is it time to embrace it and run flying laps as part of the meeting. Maybe run 10 1 lap, 10 two lap and 5 (nominated) four lap heats all adding to the score. We could also have match races where they start half a lap apart and points are scored by how close a rider catches up to the other. We’ve got to start thinking outside the box as your regular four lap race just doesn’t cut the mustard anymore imo.
  4. I have put my suggestion on but it seems any attempt to come up with things is ignored in favor of your now tedious rhetoric. We know you views, sport repeating them after EVERY post. Christ, I noticed you less when you were riding.
  5. Cook (until recently), Fricke, Tungate and Drozdz so that’s more than half the team only ride for one team in the UK yet the decline continues. Its doing my head in reading this thread as it’s going round and round rather, I suspect like a BSPA meeting. Everyone of you make good valid points but they are pretty much equal in respect to the decline of speedway. Stop trying to make out one is vastly more important than the other. Its like arguing over what caused the hole in the boat as it sinks.
  6. Why aren’t Cradley coining it in by running in the NL? Brandon to Leicester’s track is a similar distance to me and Belle Vue. Seems fans can put their love of the team to one side if things don’t suit.
  7. If teams are so important why didn’t Cradley at Stoke or Wolves work and why such resistance to Coventry at Leicester?
  8. Much love to Steve Worrall, back from injury whether he deserved it or not, eh Starman2006.
  9. I don’t think we should jerpodize the clubs future for one rider even if the fixture planner is so inept that they cannot plan correctly. We need a top league for a TV deal. Are you saying the NL will stop next year?
  10. Can’t see doubling up next year. SGP - There’s only 2 riders currently. World u21 - Not much of a crossover there. GP qualification - Same European Championship - Same Euro Pairs - Same Polish fixtures - Sunday. Fitting twenty odd fixtures into 30 odd weeks should be done without the need for clashes.
  11. I think The Aces will make the play offs but its dependant on which other teams drop out as that’s had a major effect on our season so far. If three more close down then we’re gaurenteed a spot.
  12. “Top four teams progress to the play-offs (All play-off ties raced over two legs) .- The team finishing top gets to choose from the second, third and fourth placed teams who they wish to race in the semi-finals”.
  13. Indeed, he averaged nearly eight points for us from 2A 1H. Handle him correctly and he’s a match winner. Always loved the guy and really sorry he never bedded in with The Aces.
  14. Somerset has provided becent racing during this “modern era” and that’s only 300mtrs. When Glynn was digging up Leicester the other year, I don’t know if the cost is huge but if the shape of tracks need altering would a benefit meeting help cover it as was done with the air fences? Also, surely surfaces can be altered to make for better racing?
  15. I love any attempt to improve crowd figures but one thing is always missing when these things take place and that feedback. To have some numbers about the success or otherwise would give us fans some much needed data for when we are listing the things we think promoters should be doing.
  16. Weak at the beginning, strong at the end. It’s a regular process due to the play offs. Turns many diehards away unfortunately. I’m baffled every year why people seem surprised.
  17. Why are you speaking about yourself in the 3rd person?
  18. I tried to get the thread back on topic by asking about the points deficit for the table topping team. A strange occurrence I thought worthy of discussion, with some stato posts about years gone by maybe. But no stick with the insults and attacking the poster. Anyway, looking forward to welcoming the rebels tomorrow, all ways a good match up no matter where you are in the league. I’ll miss our Charlie & the lovely Leanne though.
  19. Fix items for me include..... Racing. We have tracks actively favouring gate and go or at least turning a blind eye to it. This can and should be put right and a track commissioner should watch meetings and assess what needs to be done. We have a track playing about with its shape half heartedly, one with no outside line, one with continued surface issues and one that may have changed now, where the material used wasn’t good for speedway even though it suited other sports. All fixable. I’ve left out club names so we don’t descend into name calling again but if you feel insulted then you’ve obviously identified your track which speaks volumes. Cheating/rule bending/ unsportsmanlike behaviour. Quite simply this removes the sporting contest element and pretty much renders meetings as glorified challenges. Easy fix. Speed of meetings/presentation. I think meetings are run efficiently now save for falls or injuries but I can live with that. Rider interviews, comprehensive communication, decent sound system, viewing and comfort as good as clubs can manage, entertainment (Chase), decent affordable food & drink. I’d like to see characters back with some friendly needle between fans and riders. I’m not bothered if it’s a bit staged as long as it keeps kids (of all ages) entertained. All doable. More stable teams. Riders the fans can identify and mix with year on year, at least a core of three or four. Consistent fixtures. If it’s every two weeks then so be it but three blank weeks then six meetings in a month at the end is a no no. I’d have liked to have seen a better attempt at fixture planning and still would, rather than jumping in with FRN. I think it should be compulsory for all clubs to run a junior team, even if only MDL standard with meetings following every main event. If both teams are using R/R then a junior must be used in that place. Just on that, if three riders are missing from one team or four from both combined then the meeting is postponed as would be the case for a rain off. Postponements arranged in 24hrs and must take place within the following four to six weeks.
  20. Get Josh Auty! Beat him to it. lol
  21. Aside from Busters infamous Kings Lynn meeting, the only changes to line ups at the NSS this year have been due to injury.
  22. If it’s like Leicester & Belle Vue it’ll be less 10%. Lol.
  23. Has it ever happen before (in any sport) that the team topping the table at the half way stage has a deficit in the for and away race points? Strange one.
