  1. Agreed. Nuisance them getting a rescue plan together that could potentially hit your team building plans. Have to keep an eye on improving ‘B’s next season and hope they do actually shut down this time. Be a real boon for you. Up the Witches!
  2. If you pick them young enough you can enjoy seeing them ripen. The older more established ones are more expensive and can go off.
  3. There was only the Stars meetings that would effect their average as play offs don’t count. Over those two meetings they scored 90 points so didn’t really go overboard in increasing/decreasing their averages.
  4. Indeed he is. Best put your tin hat on with a post like that. 🤣
  5. Belle Vue recent “cherrypicking” Brady 7.50 Jaimon 4.00 Norick 4.00 Dan 3.00. Tom RS and a bit further back Max 4.80. I’m sure a Ipswich recent historian can fill us in with much the same. 🤣 Maybe look up what cherry-pick actually means.
  6. Louis getting it very wrong there as Every rider is out of contract on October 31st. copywrite Arch Stanton 2024.
  7. Not good for the rider when that’s the case. Connor Mountains last seven meetings for us were a really struggle. Aside from 11 from 7 at Oxford he was averaging less than 3 points a meeting with a point of that being gained by defeating our RS. Torrid time for the lad and as with Joe it’s good to give them time away to regroup.
  8. It’ll definitely make the play offs but then anything could happen. You could say, lose your number 4 to injury who had scored paid 19 at a track that season only to see his replacements score 3 and gift the opponents a bye to the final.
  9. Klindt wasn’t due to covid in 2021. Ronan replaced the injured Riss. Wasn’t sure about Jordan but it’s difficult to keep up with all the changes.
  10. Post lock down attempts for silverware Connor Mountain* - Tate Zischke Jake Mulford - Connor Bailey Joe Thompson - Dan Thompson Cameron Heeps - Ben Barker Ben Barker - Aaron Summers Nicolai Klindt - Jake Allen Jordan Stewart - Paul Starke *Connor was the second oldest in the team, a few months younger than Brady.
  11. If they do drop Danny for Tom then it would remove the last “club man” they had and provide a clean sweep on how to buy in a winning team. Cherrypicking at its finest. They should adopt the cherry as their emblem for 2025.
  12. That doesn’t really matter these days as all meetings are over two legs, even the qualifiers with the bonus. I’d sooner sign a lad who can score 9/10 over two legs with a massive differential than one that scores 4 home and away.
  13. Absolutely, you’ve been a welcome addition to the NDL for the last five seasons. If we can do it, then why can’t others?
  14. Bickley, you win some, you lose some. It won’t soften our determination on rider development. We do spend money on bringing on lads, whether for the benefit of us or others and it’s been easier for us to attract riders over the past decade as we are the only ever present development league team. We do have a dam good set up as well and it’s definitely not about the money. (See Cairns) No other top flight club comes close in terms of commitment to the youngsters development.
  15. Our number 8 Jack Shimelt rode in all meetings since we signed William apart from Edinburgh away (unavailable), when we blooded Billy Budd. We had a problem with Chads injury stretching out longer than we expected, despite several practice attempts. As for running away with meetings, it was a last heat decider v Oxford at home and Sheffield away was settled in heat 14. William wasn’t even involved in the Sheffield thrashing during our final meeting. That JUST leaves Edinburgh. We wrote the memo.
  16. Scott’s average went up when we moved from Kirky Lane to NSS as he WAS equally as good on either track at the time. Harris has blown hot & cold all his career including whilst an Ace. GP round winner one minute, battling with a reserve the next. We’ll have to agree to disagree on this one.
  17. Believe you me, the Colts don’t splash the cash. We are always made up of locals, cast offs and those beating the door down to join. We’ve had many go elsewhere when their heads have been turned for cash and not always to their betterment.
  18. Surely they’ll just set the rider criteria to fit the number of clubs taking part. Be great if more teams get involved as the fixture list was very sparse this season. Play offs should be back now the Cairns thing is out of the way which will means more for those lucky enough to qualify. I find the quality of Colts meetings to be very high and hardly distinguishable from the main lads to a newbie. The younger rounds can be less so but it’s still great to see the progress being made each time they visit.
  19. Jake helps make a good point about the technical aspect of the sport. His home average inc bonus is only 0.67 whilst away it’s 3.20. Jake probably feels more comfortable on the technical tracks you might say. He’s a long track world champion, the very epitome of throttle jockey so that doesn’t wash. He’s probably not got the all important set up right for the NSS. Every Aces RS is given an engine tuned and set up specifically for use at the NSS. It’s not just delivered in a box either, time is spent setting everything up and trialing it to suit, so it’s not that either. The difference is clear, he currently doesn't have the technical riding aspect in place just yet so he is easily swallowed up at the NSS by opponents who are more technically proficient than him. His gating is as good at the NSS as it is away but the luxury away is he can pop out and just ride round without fear of being overtaken as these passing opportunities are not available on other tracks. To dismiss the NSS as a throttle jockey track is a major disservice plus a big misunderstanding of the intricacies of a good technical racetrack.
  20. There’s a case for handicap racing there then. If some riders struggle then get them out first and the “good” rides can pass them. Personally it matters not how good or bad a rider is at these so called technical tracks, if you don’t gate you don’t win - simple. Jake’s as wobbly as you’re going to get at this stage in his career but if he gates at these technical tracks he gets points. Makes me laugh how NSS can be deemed a throttle jockey track when it’s the most technical out there from a speedway racing point of view due to the amount of lines to either guard or mount an attack. If technical is popping out of the gate and sitting on THE line a la scalextic shows more skill than moving around the track effectively then I’m happy to leave them in their happy ignorance.
  21. So pretty much one a decade. I think us fans put too much on these riders tbh.
  22. I had Leicester above The Aces but that was before the final. Ipswich were easily above us before their injuries kicked in. We’re usually mid table in the home league table.
  23. Brown envelopes have clearly changed hands especially in the Jenkins/Ipswich case. They’ve put their argument forward (better terms £££) and been given commercial reasons to “poach” him even though he wasn’t a rising star this year, but can be now he’s sign for Ipswich.
