  1. Great idea. Even easier for Belle Vue as Mohammed literally comes to the mountain every week with all the kids who play football on our centre green. We need to make the picture of Dan bigger at the front so the kids and parents realise what goes on here.
  2. Belle Vue need to……. Have an advert on local radio over an extended period of time. Have an advert in local newspapers over an extended period of time. Have an advertising board on some of the busiest roads in Manchester. Have posters in shops and businesses. Had out flyers in local shopping areas. Have a float or attend local fairs and carnivals. Attend local trade shows. Give out free tickets to schools and businesses. Take bikes and merchandise into schools to accompany the talk they deliver on the sport. Be featured on local tv news’s 4 or 5 times between March and October. Get hours of live and prerecorded coverage on sports/terrestrial channels Have a regular editorial in local papers. Have a 30 minute highlights programme on a local tv satellite station. Form a tie up with local groups and offer free entry and supporters club membership. Attend (and hopefully win) local sports team of the year awards. Just a start but if they did all that it would be just a case of counting the money - wouldn’t it?
  3. People would prefer to go to United, City, County etc or the Palace, Opera House, Royal Exchange etc or Odeon, Cineworld, Everyman etc or Museums, Science, Manchester, War etc or Lowry, Whitworth, Manchester Art Gallery. The visit Manchester website lists nearly 500 things to do (of which speedway is one) but like I say people don’t like speedway so you can put any amount of glitter on this particular turd, you ain’t going to get the numbers needed. The tenth thing to do in Ipswich on the visit Suffolk website is “shop for a Suffolk souvenir”. This isn’t a dig at Ipswich but an indication what we’re up against. The other thing to consider is people like to do nothing. Work, home, TV, bed, repeat. They should promote it as a bank/school holiday thrill fest with goodies and baddies, thrills and spills in the same way as WWE because it has as much sporting credibility as WWE. The trouble is the powers that be still try to front us up as an actual sporting contest - with all the entertainment constraints attached - when it’s no such thing when you look how the rules are continually flouted and everyone competes for each other etc.
  4. We need to drop down then. Top tire Oxford is nothing to write home about from experience.
  5. It’s been done in the past. The simple thing is people don’t like speedway anymore and I find it difficult to disagree with them having gone from 100+ meetings a season to less than 20. Take away the allegiance to a club and it’s a bloody tedious watch.
  6. Don’t go to any other track as you’ll get 15!
  7. Track was gate ‘n’ go which played into the tigers hands and this was cemented by the heat 10 finish as they would have felt properly at home. The 16 or so Sheffield fans enjoyed it as would BSF/BSN but it’s not for me. I left immediately after heat 10 as I now watch speedway if I’ve nothing better to do and I had something else on at 2.30. Can’t believe it took so long to call it off or that fans stuck around thinking it would continue. Speedway fans eh. Looking forward to the playoffs and a decent crowd/atmosphere, as this bank holiday meeting was dire and could well have been one of our last.
  8. This has been going on for years, I remember Peter Collins finishing second in a world final then missing subsequent Belle Vue fixtures with injury. Sheffield should win this but we’ll still qualify so it doesn’t matter, which btw is what a lot of former fans realised since the play offs came in. Saves them doing a complete season and provides big crowds for the final - right.
  9. Shame we didn’t win but if you’d have offered me the bonus once Brady was ruled out I’d have bitten your hand off. Keeps things ticking over for qualification, which is all that matters these days. Pre play offs I’d have been gutted so maybe there is a positive to them after all. Nice close score to keep the fans happy to.
  10. Current away race average 2.15 x 5 = 10.85 Brady 1.55 Jaimon 1.25 Ben 1.74 Dan 1.12 Norick 1.55 Jaimon =7.21 7 points instead of 11. Ouch! We’ll probably use one of the RR’s as a Tac though.
  11. If the (R)Aces show their usual gating skills then it’s a lost cause. If we can master the crucial task of dialling into the starts then it might be a contest. Jaimon will do well.
  12. You’re forgetting we only beat Ipswich by that many as Doyle wasn’t the (copy-write BSF). We only secured the win against Oxford in heat 14 so hardly a walkover, despite our massive home advantage.
  13. Most would think the chances of Musielak getting 3 from 3 are probably very low - without checking.
  14. The Aces ‘ massive home advantage is coming to the fore this year, well apart from against Sheffield in the cup,Ipswich, Oxford and Kings Lynn.
  15. We’re still waiting for the carpet & brush (we got a working lift) to be delivered as well as the completed south stand etc. lol.
  16. If/when the NSS closes I’ll be lost to the sport after fifty odd years. Away from the NSS it is now a far too tedious affair and with no team interest it’s only use is as an insomnia cure. Considering I use to taking in 100+ meetings away from Belle Vue every year, it’s a sad position the sport has engineered itself into.
  17. In the league only 2 out of 5 opponents at the NSS have ridden with their complete team. The Aces have been 100% on their travels. “This is Manchester, we do things differently here.” Ref:24 hour party people.
  18. Anders Rowe was on the RS list at the start of the 2021 season. Ipswich signed Drew Kemp as their RS and Anders as their other reserve. Anders guested for Sheffield in place of their RS Josh Bates and when I queried it stating Anders was no longer an RS, they said he was on the list at the start so he stays an RS. Anders average was 5.49 which dwarfed Bates’ figure (He finished on 2.67). His paid 6 secured a narrow 2 point win for the Tigers. It could have been another of those Belle Vue/Bates things and Edwards might well no longer be an RS. https://britishspeedway.co.uk/2021-rising-stars/ https://britishspeedway.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/p21_issue_10.pdf https://britishspeedway.co.uk/2021-rider-statistics/ https://britishspeedway.co.uk/21results/sheffield_01.07.21_res.pdf
  19. He’s not off the list. https://www.scbgb.co.uk/risingstars
  20. The rule book is ignored to suit teams on many occasions. You cannot have a facility for a rider that is yet to ride for you but it’s often ignored. You cannot use an assessed average rider as a guest but it happened. You can stop a rider being included in a team even if the rules state he can ride - if you know the right people. I could go on. The fact it takes lawyers to force a sport to ride by its own rule book tells us all we need to know about this once great sport of ours and why it’s dead in the water.
  21. With that thinking, you’ve never beaten us in the play offs.
  22. See Bates is at it again, what was it this time free carvery? If that’s the way you need to win, we’ll leave it with you. At least the racing was great - oh wait a minute. The only silver lining is that Tigers fans have to endure that dross for an additional 15 heats.
  23. I think whoever gates the best will win.
  24. I felt the same when Brummies top rider Pawlicki passed our RS the week before yet it was considered one of the “highlights” from several, apparently.
