Christ, it's only a bit of fun. I drag this one out every few years as some sort of pub quiz trivia. Looks like I misread the room. -

Well, I was answering the point you made about the expense of taking teenagers to speedway and showing it can be done for the price of a pint. If you had a speedway pot and spread the cost over a year it's £49 per month or £11 per week. Many families including me spread costs over a yearly period as you're correct in saying £168 a month is a lot, it is however similar to a family of four watching a 3D film every week. I think that's too much and as such rarely visit the cinema whereas years ago I attended weekly. I suppose I prioritise my leisure £. Having said all that I do believe the sport is overpriced but we appear to have painted ourselves into a corner there re costs for the competitors. -

Don't envisage a frosty atmosphere around the table more a supportive discussion on moving things forward - it's just the way we work. It would be a bit churlish to have a pop at Max as his fabulous performance during his steep learning curve (including the heat 15's) with us has helped see us into the play off zone. He will get all the support and encouragement from the management team and I'd be surprised if he's not another Aces world champion, just a shame he's not British. Out of the last nine British born world championship wins, six have won whilst an Ace and with the new academy going on stream I can only see that raising so it's win win really. -

Family ticket is £42 for 2+2 so that works out at £3.50 each for the two children under 17. Students 17 and over are then £13 each. -

If Richie wants to better himself then he has some terrific facilities at his disposal from early next year covering on and off track aspects of the sport and all only twenty odd miles from home, but he needs to want it. Whether we can help turn him into the next British number two and Cardiff regular remains to be seen but even pushing on like his brother and fellow Aces asset would be a move in the right direction. He didn't get job at Belle Vue as it's doubtful he would have hit Josh's average of 6.40 and I'd go as far as saying he probably wouldn't have lifted his poor 2014 figure just .42 to match his replacement at Lakeside currently on a splendid 5.95. A few years back and Richie would have got his place with The Aces but the days of us languishing near the foot of the table are over and we need riders to follow that mindset. Brady Kurtz doesn't double up, yet he has two points on Richie in the PL so it's not just lack of racing. At the end of the day he needs to want it but rest assured he's part of the family and we will offer him an extremely high level of support to see him achieve what he wants. -

The thing with Cardiff is that it offers excellent viewing in a lovely seating area with state of the art lighting and sound systems and its run a night when there is no school the day after. If only we could run under such conditions....... -
Coventry refuse to ride v Poole and get a fine. Belle Vue refuse to ride v Poole and get a fine (and 3 points docked). Poole refuse to ride v Lakeside and get a .......... wait minute.

I'm hoping the Zagar that gates turns up. -
BV had never pandered to Poole but have been stitched up on many occasions and not just by Poole, all with the blessing of the authorities. We did however expertly sell a pallet of bricks down south. ££££

On the thread for the last match lots of Aces fans were bemoaning the guest situation, it didn't matter win or lose. The only difference between the two threads was Lakeside fans were ranting about the FDR system but that seems alright now......Jack.
-
It's an away fixture and try as we might, like last time we couldn't change it. We did try The Lord Fraud approach but were then docked 3 league points. Face didn't fit it seems.
-
Wow, unbelievable. The law of averages would have seen him compete on more than one occasion. Fixture planning needs addressing but the problem, like so much else in speedway is whilst it suits some clubs nothing will change. Thats what turns fans off as it's bad enough if fate dictates the need for multiple guests, but when it's engineered it becomes very hard to take.
-
Great result from the Aces but shame about the guests and shame about the need for guests. The two fixtures we ran a Lakeside have been extremely badly placed and I can't help thinking it's planned that way. Fitting 14 fixtures into a 35 week season makes me think it's a actually harder to come up the the dates we've been required to race there. Maybe and infinite number of monkeys for next year instead of the usual one?

Are There Better Ways To Limit Team Strength?
ouch replied to Grachan's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Rider control, if it was run like it was in the 70's we'd have to lose Zagar and Coventry would lose Robson. -
Not an option for us. Tango man and his cronies would get together and dock us three points. The rest of you can run or not when you fancy or chop and change teams and have guests for whoever etc etc. Bent as........
-
Richie would never be allowed to ride EDR for the Aces. Another team, maybe?

Coventry Bees V Belle Vue Friday 26th June
ouch replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I don't think Jason is dirty just out of control and not a clever thinker on the bike. He was years ago at the Vue and I'm surprised and disappointed he's not been coached out of this during his years away. The play off semi or final should be good between these two teams. Just hope Scott & the reserves don't have stinkers again. Felt for Stefan when his bike went pop. Hans is a problem for The Bees as whereas Scott's was a blip Hans is regular. I think that will intimately cost them. Correct, whenever these back room deals go on between the in crowd and we end up getting shafted, I'm sore. Bent the lot of it but whilst some fans are happy who cares. I'm alright Jack! -
I've given up. Fancy though it's alway great when we're not looking. Bit of BS I think but if the home fans like it then hey ho.
