  1. I didn't read any sarcasm in your post either, just giving your view.... which bit is sarcastic GRW?
  2. From my personal point of view I want our riders to race as a team, for our team, to have great team spirit, to enjoy racing for Lynn, to have a good rapport with the fans so we are together as a club. Yes of course we can have a Championship team doing just this or a NL team doing it. I can get enjoyment from all levels of speedway It's the lack of fans that keep the costs up soooo perhaps it doesn't matter which league you're in, the promoter has to get out there promoting the club, attracting new people and when they come through the turnstiles give them a treat, give them something to do at all times so they can't get bored/put off. Test Your Gating Reactions comp to run for the season so the fans keep coming back, fun photo booth, selfie comps on twitter, competition to win a free entrance ticket, put time and effort into the music, get the mic man giving interesting info about riders last meetings, club meetings, show footage on the big screen etc, special guests etc etc
  3. What hype, he's gonna realise his dream like that of most riders, let's see what he can do, go Cookie!!!
  4. Have the fans not been calling for a World Pairs comp one year and Team comp the next?
  5. It's interesting how the discussion on different club threads evolve, here on the Poole thread it's all about who Matt is gonna sign to win you the league again, on the Lynn thread it's all about the future of the sport...
  6. So is it best to lower the quality of riders to attract new fans at a cheaper price or keep the sport at the level it is, & the price it is, but improve the promotion, the advertising and the race day experience, some think one thing, some another.... hard one! Meg, you only quote part of my post, the changes I have quoted could well attract more fans. I'm not sure exactly what the answer is, it's about attracting new fans, to get younger people to things advertising is key, excitement is key, music, lights, fireworks and fire is perhaps the way to go, Brian Griffin wasn't far out 😊
  7. Moving to two nights a week will help on a few levels, will stop doubling up clashes, riders can more easily race here within their calendar, there will be interest of matches on the same night, more scope for TV. It seems the GTR plan hasn't worked, why? Because they are different to GMs, good set ups are harder to achieve, riders do not have time to learn how to set them up, they need instant success to earn money, people tell me even youngsters who had them aren't using them anymore. It's a shame as it seemed a good idea. I like the news re Glasgow widening their track and appreciate the fact the owners are rich but I'd like all promotions to consider their track shape, surface, material and preparation before and during meetings. As well as promotion of meetings before they happen and presentation during meetings.
  8. Haha, panicked there, I've personally gotta have 4 new tyres this week as well hahaFans Do Not want NL racing, Young Stars attracted 150/200 people maybe?
  9. I haven't heard that he's signed for Lynn again....
  10. Of course you can tell who is who, all riders have their own style and way of racing. Riders will never all be equal, whether on similar engines or not, they all have different racing talents and are individual blokes, gating, passing skills, able to attract more sponsors, great with the public, good at set ups, keeping fit, physical strength, dirty/hard, tiny in stature etc etc. It's only the promoters that know what finances they have to chuck about, whether their promotion is lacking etc I certainly don't want to see the most talented guys stopped from racing here, they work hard to get where they are But IF the promoters are paying them what they can't afford mmmmmmm. The promoters are between a rock and hard place, they need to build strong teams to attract the public and sponsors but it costs, speculate to accumulate or live comfortably, bit like life really....
  11. We know he's English but we want him to race for Aus, where his heart is, no probs then...
  12. He admitted at our team announcement meeting that he's not keen on the Lynn track but I thought he was at last sorting out his machinery and gating over here. Then that fateful night happened and that was that...
  13. If the fans called for a cheaper night then haven't booked tickets it must be annoying for the promoter? She is telling you the whole story not just saying it's cancelled, no surmising, you know exactly why it's cancelled.
  14. If the promoters have agreed on Mondays and Thursdays only it must help a great deal, no clashes with other countries, no clashes with Championship teams, they can get the fixtures lists out earlier etc. Listened on the radio today to a bloke called Fred Sirieix who is general manager of Michelin-starred restaurant Galvin at Windows at the London Hilton. He has helped launch the Right Course which teaches prisoners about the 'service industry'. The whole of British Speedway could learn from this guy but at the end of the day everyone concerned needs to put themselves in the shoes of each other and treat one another respectively ......... it's really not rocket science.
  15. It would be interesting to see how Polish 'promoters' would deal with our set of circumstances!!
  16. The double points rule does bring more entertainment as the riders in that race are under more pressure to get an 8-1 and try harder and/or have to tactically slow to let their partner through etc etc I like the idea of teams who are down on points choosing gate positions .........
  17. U've hit the nail on the head, it's the crowds, the fans, that make the sport in Poland, the racing isn't always great but the fans love their clubs. The promotions do nothing special, they don't need to, the fans make the atmosphere. Just like the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s here.
  18. The loaded averages were for team building at the start of this season only.....
  19. That should read, Poland are behind the UK, we've seen the big crowds, the towns and cities, even counties, turning out to support their teams, now we have what we have...and quite possibly what Poland may have in a few year's time....
  20. We really need to know we have a management team before we go any further, would be great to know if everyone is in place....
  21. If and when the new guy takes over he surely deserves support. How will you know what he's like if u don't take any interest? Up to you....
  22. You're lucky to have had your end of season meeting as long as you have m8! Most tracks had them knocked on the head years ago .....
  23. You've given him a good welcome there..... not!
