Those nights rarely exist these days! Freezing cold October nights, nah haven't experienced one of those lately! And if you have, what a successful year your club has had yayyyy!
-
'Hot laps' were stopped by the SCB I believe because of insurance....
-
Yes, should've asked earlier! TY
-
For now yes and good luck to them, if only our townsfolk had the same pride in their speedway clubs! We can't dwell on what Poland are doing, our clubs have never been afforded the backing of councils and businesses like they have and are. Mind you they soon go downhill if something goes wrong, take Bydgoszcz, so the support is not set in stone! I believe the Stars get bigger crowds than the Linnets lol
-
What do you mean they are representative of their towns and cities? Do you mean that their 'councils' and local businesses pump loads of money into the clubs? Or that the towns people support/love/are proud of their clubs? If the latter, there are a number of locals at every UK club that feel the same but unfortunately not enough.... I was at the Norwich Speedway Dinner last weekend and I remain convinced that if a new club was formed in Norwich it would be a huge success, unfortunately it may never happen.

You're on then next year Steve!!

Go Workington!!

There's plenty of minibuses to hire in Norfolk, our problem is getting a driver, it's a big responsibility and very tiring. We hired coaches to Poole and Belle Vue for meetings at the end of the season but struggled to find enough fans to cover the very high cost, a few of us were lucky enough to have jobs where we were able to book off random days, quite a few were retired people. Both trips cost about £30-£40 a head... It's really difficult to organise speedway trips because of weather and the worry of not getting enough people to cover the costs, hard work!!
-
We changed our traditional race night years ago when the GP series took off and Buster wanted stocks on Saturday nights, still think a Friday or Saturday is best for speedway to get the kids coming and for the ease of away mtgs but clubs do get half decent crowds on Weds/Thurs...

Perhaps he's treated the riders and not the fans this year, been to the F1 haven't they?
-
Your win has all been taken a bit for granted really, easy come, easy go it seems, trouble with winning so much!

Robert Lambert King's Lynn Stars Robert Lambert Dan Bewley Robert Lambert Belle Vue v King's Lynn Michael Palm Toft Belle Vue (only because of injuries) Lewis Kerr/Dan Bewley Thinking about this one

Doesn't your supporters club collect 'Rider of the Year' votes?
-
That’s not MOST clubs .... the Stars have kept the majority of their riders from year to year, for sure 2017 to 2018 was an exception although we resigned a few of the team we ended up with plus NKI came back.
-
My hope is to see Panthers in the Premiership in 2019, need to see those local derbies again!!
-
How are they gonna be paid otherwise? They would have to invest in the sport as a whole until their ideas bring in revenue. Unless they could bring investment into the sport from the start via sponsorship etc but then they'd have to be on a percentage only.
-
Only if they are prepared to invest?
-
The majority of clubs keep the the majority of their team members from year to year imo

Re the play off final between Poole and Lynn, I think they did the right thing for a few tenths of a point difference, would have been more consternation had the riders swopped teams on the two nights? Maybe the promoters need to keep the averages in house so the fans cannot have a say, the more I think about it, yes they do need to do that, then nobody would’ve been any the wiser about Ellis and Morris. British speedway tries hard to keep teams even and fair, that’s one of the reasons our rules are so complicated, promoters continually try to outdo one another to get an advantage to help them win, which you can understand but it has to led to so many loophole closures (new rules). What do the fans want, what will bring new fans in and keep them coming, imo, PASSES and TEAM RIDING. But how do we get that, is it change in engines, tracks, tyres, track shape, track material, riders’ mentality, handicap racing, I don’t know but at the end of the day you can have all the extra entertainment money can buy but it’s the RACING that counts. It’s a bit of a chicken and egg situation for the promoters, they need more fans bringing in the money to improve their clubs but they need to spend more money to bring in the fans, it’s a really hard situation but yes of course they need to be all working together and they certainly could asa promoting is concerned, I’d like to think part of the conference would be 'sharing promotion initiatives’ .....

Lakeside v Workington 27/10/10 play off final 1st leg
Trees replied to cityrebel's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I agree all promoters could try harder, I also think that maybe they lose enthusiasm when they are losing money though, what do you want for your money? They all need to look at what the promoters of the Isle of Wight are doing right. -
There are more positive people than you out there m8, thank goodness!! You don't have all the answers, nobody has, there are lots of good things about our sport, you're on such downer about it, jeeeeez! Go down to the Isle of Wight Speedway next year, might help with your lack of positivity!!

Trees replied to Super Blue's topic in National League Speedway
What on earth were Mildenhall thinking asking a Dugard to guest for them against his home team, his family team! -
But none of them are British....
