  1. 3. Perhaps it was at the other riders request, thinking about it perhaps it was at Ole Olsen's request, for the crowd entertainment, who knows??
  2. Must just chuck this idea into the ring As Ole has so much say in the GP, perhaps he had a word in Tony Steele's ear when Tony R had his "problems" ......... who knows
  3. No way should Crump have been excluded, yeah he fell but he immediately remounted and did not cause a stoppage. I don't think the race should have been stopped.
  4. Of course he is he's just won the Danish Championship and congratulations to him.

£30K Starlady, most of those in the ABC1 group are earning considerably more than that Agreed, many of us are not in their league nor likely to be, nor want to be, many of them are crooks anyhow!
  6. Owwwwwww touchy, I say this with my kids in mind, they tell my of kids who they know who are apparently taking some sort of drugs, and just accept it. The mother and father of my daughter even brought drugs back from Amsterdam just because they are legal over, they are smokers too so perhaps they think the drugs are no different to cigarettes. Anyway like you say this is a thread about Mike the Bike so I don't want to turn it into a thread re the rights and wrongs of drug taking and smoking! Kids of today ...........
  7. Mike was my hero too, nothing will ever take away the enjoyment I got of watching him race on track. At the end of the day, as speedway fans, that's all that we should be concerned about. As for drugs, my drug was/is watching exciting speedway Young people these days just accept that others are taking them, surely they should be telling the authorities what is going on to help stamp the problem out?
  8. Haven't read the piece in the Star as yet but would just like to say that for Michael to go the way he did, did not only deny him a great career but denied us fans of the pleasure of watching a master in action. Silly damned arse!!! As for the drugs issue, mmmmmmmm, I used to sit many a time in the Tuesday Market Place in Lynn after a meeting, wondering just what was going on in those vans!
  9. Don't think I would have recognised him but for his smile, that hasn't changed a bit!
  10. It's a damned annoying rule if your team is well in front, great for fans of the opposing team tho. It's got to make matches closer and therefore you would think more exciting but whether it will make the racing closer and have them passing I know not ................ (which is the most important thing to me). I'm in the enviable position of not really bothering too much if my own team win or not as long as i've seen a good meeting and a complete and utter neutral as far as the EL goes as long as, again, they are exciting tv matches
  11. I was always for the guest system because it usually made a weakened team stronger with riders of the same calibre guesting for those out. That was if it was used fairly mind you, I was against a team using a guest for an injured rider ALL season! We, as fans, will have to suck it and see, will it make for better entertainment or weak v strong at times??
  12. Good riders won't lose their jobs. And anyway if the top boys are just "testing" they'll want to put their engine through it's paces. We shall see, I love to see the top boys helping out their partner for a 5-1, it's easier said than done of course especially with another no 1, 3 or 5 chasing!!!
  13. That's just what we all want isn't it
  14. The promotors know what income they have coming in and what on average they pay the riders, is this not in the main the reason they may lower the team average? We, as fans, have no idea what monies are involved so surely cannot say what points limit is best? If a rider has potential he'll be snapped up by some team whatever his average, it's those who are maybe struggling or have gone stagnant that find it hard to get a team surely?
  15. I would prefer quality rather than quantity re the amount of races, if the riders/promotors can provide 15 or even 13 exciting (lots of passing) races the fans will turn out. To me that is the MOST important thing they should be discussing, how to make the racing more exciting! More excitement = more fans?? Surely bringing in guest riders for absent top riders is to supposedly give better value for money to the fans and should provide better racing? Having said that IF there was some way of putting the riders out on more equal machinery maybe the use of guest riders wouldn't be so important as anyone in any race could win?
  16. I think they'll go for young riders with lots to prove, loads of money behind them and those who don't complain about anything.
  17. Having bought the Vintage Speedway Magazine at the ELRC there are numerous mentions in there about how today's bikes are only for flat out riding on slick tracks, and how can the top riders pass one another if they are going flat out on a slick tracks, it's a miracle if anyone can find that tiny bit extra to pass. At the ELRC the first prize was a complete Jawa bike, I wonder what the racing would have been like if the riders had all been on a standard jawa bike? Would the outcome of the races have been more a matter of skill and judgement rather than who could gate the fastest and ride the fastest line? Maybe the outcome would not have been any different given that there will always be riders who can gate better and change their set up better than the others? It would surely close the racing up tho?
  18. One tip ............... improve the racing (amount of passing in races) by whatever means, hopefully in a way that will reduce the costs for the riders and therefore the club and therefore the fans :-) Processional speedway is boring to old fans and new and potential!
  19. IMO they can fiddle about how they like, bring other teams up to the EL etc etc but the one thing that needs to be improved is the racing, although I have only really watched racing at Lynn this season it just isn't good enough or exciting enough for people. Must have more passing.
  20. We know so little about how the sport is financially run, who holds the aces, who pulls the strings, who is involved with our league and the gps, what deal the BSPA have with SKY and what SKY's demands are that it really is a waste of time putting the effort into suggesting anything! One thing I would like to see is closer racing (ie not processions) in all meetings.
  21. Scott would be able to tell peeps exactly what went wrong last night, it sure ain't cos he's a crap rider!!
  22. I was in Denmark too, OleOleOle (hate the name BTW!!!! ), and I agree the GP riders and fans were well proud to reach the final, it was wonderful to be in charge BSI having the rights to this competition spoils it for me though! Having said that I would like to see it over here again because it is a great competition (as long as they get rid of the 5 man races!!!!! which are not needed!!!) with Sheffield and Lynn having rounds
  23. So they have beaten Sweden and GB to announcing their fixtures. How nice we can all work round them once again
