I wonder if SKY would be interested in televising a six match European Champions tournament between the winners of the three main leagues, of course the trouble starts when the same riders ride for each team! Would it capture the fans imaginations? Were the three teams equal in strength?
I 100% think that riders who will only commit to part of a season in Great Britain should be given a wide berth, we don't need them, they are not good for team spirit, for the fans or for the clubs! Why should they be allowed to "use" our league for practice if they can't give their all for a club!
I think the 3/4 main leagues work pretty well together, it's the 5th league that, the GPs, that are the bug bear.
Totally opposite to you Enotian, I'd rather see only 6 GP's, making each one special for the fans and special for the riders instead of turning them into a GP league.
BTW Enotian, do you attend league racing?
Jim - Frigbo beat me to naming them all, I could though ........... owwwwww wish I had a time machine ............ lol Thanks for posting them tho, blinking great!
Has anyone got any idea what happened to the George Formby Trophy that was apparently raced for at some point at Norwich speedway. This was a query in my local newspaper today, the guy, who lives in my village, is a huge Formby fan and would like to get his hands on the trophy I think Any info would be much appreciated I'm sure!
A few of the King's Lynn riders had them when I started going in the late seventies. I can also remember a team photo where the riders were all wearing a yellow footie shirt outside their leathers with the race bib over the top I think ............... some people think these shirts are a new phenomenon!
My first meeting was in 77 also, King's Lynn Stars v ................. but I can't remember who it was, wish I could turn the clock back and really appreciate the riders I was watching back then!
I'd like to bet that if Mark Loram was in the GP's and made a decent start to the season the british fans would not be disappointed! The bloke ain't that bloody old and remains one of the most popular if not THE most popular british rider ever!
Oright HenryW aka The Fonz ............... yes Jason did what he could to help Leigh on his way, and why not, isn't that what fellow compatriots are all about
Well I'm happy as far as the standings go but it ain't too much to ask surely, especially as the tennis over ran in the first place. I guess speedway is just not up there with the likes of superbikes or grand prix motor racing where we always watch the champers being sprayed about
We love your speedway coverage SKY but can you please extend the show to cover the rostrum presentations, especially that of the World Numbers 1, 2 and 3 after a GP season, thank you!
My Backtrack arrived this morning, I thoroughly enjoyed reading Michael's interview, thanks Must get some footage of him racing at Lynn, rekindle the memory bank
