  1. I think you might be right to a certain extent, when your team is winning everyone is happy. King's Lynn do have their fair share of loud mouth, negative nellies though, just look at this forum lol
  2. Thomas Jorgensen since 2018, Erik Riss since 2018, Lewis Kerr since 2010 with 2 years out, Robert Lambert with Lynn 2004-2019, Wolves: Rory Schlein, Kyle Howarth and Sam Masters, Belle Vue ...... there are loads basically, can't be arsed to double check any more ......
  3. But it is the modern way on the whole, there are loads of riders who have remained at a club for a few years!
  4. Given the fickleness of speedway fans these days the promoters have to call off meetings if the forecasts are poor! They need every paying fan they can get through the turnstiles .....
  5. Well maybe the ref needs to be allowed the option for the good of the sport. I often think, for the good of speedway, that riders should ALWAYS be allowed practice before a meeting starts then we wouldn't get the processional first few heats ....
  6. It would be great to get an update on the Swindon situation, I'd certainly want to be knowing if I was a Swindon fan!
  7. No, it could've been taken either way tbf ........ why would the ref not want to get the meeting on if at all possible. We thought a few of the guys might give it a go after all the preparation and the fans waiting ......
  8. He was wrong to do that, Chris Harris was also up for giving it a go .....
  9. So what is their attendance? 200? 400? 500? 1k? Yes Barry ran NL meetings. He took notice of covid restrictions and decided not to promote league racing so his outgoings were low? So he could only promote a few fun meetings in the summer?
  10. I think you're wrong, when they promote on the internet the fans should be sharing and retweeting their posts so it reaches all their followers then maybe their followers do the same thing so the word gets out to thousands. The trouble here is fans don't share or retweet, they just like posts, twits! Shame with riders, they need to do the same ....
  11. I'd like to see what Barry could do as a Premiership promoter with meetings April-September or even Championship speedway. Would the worldwide sponsors cover the costs? I think if Premiership, Championship and NL promoters only had to promote a few summer shows it would be a piece of cake! I don't want my club going this way 100%, I want league racing with the best riders involved possible. Yeah I'd like a few initiatives that Barry offers but when our promoter is trying to get the meeting done and dusted by 9/9.30pm on a chilly school night in April it's a different kettle of fish to August school holidays!
  12. You are very good at selling yourself and your product Barry ...... compared to you other promoters are not.
  13. VERY sad, will miss Phil's postings on here, RIP
  14. You say that but if current speedway fans have a good night, tell their friends then the crowd does increase doesn't it, word of mouth and all that. Current speedway fans all need to do their bit by retweeting the sharing the promotion of the club instead of just liking posts. Most speedway promoters are not just trying to encourage holiday makers over a few weeks during the summer, they need local people who will come to watch and support their clubs March-September?
  15. I dunno what coverage the Stars get on the King's Lynn radio station but it certainly gets plenty of coverage online from the Lynn News and on BBC Radio Norfolk. The promotion did have their A frame trailer sitting on a main roundabout verge when I drove home on Thursday. They have had leaflets out through a local company as we have had them in my store 40 miles away. They do loads of promotion online but if the fans don't share the posts and retweet the tweets they probs struggle to get them out far, fans don't seem to understand this about online posts, they tend to like them or comment but not share or retweet! If I was them I'd put plz share on every post lol
  16. It's great that you and your paying public enjoy your show Barry, non speedway fan holiday makers will definitely enjoy "the show" because that's who you are trying to attract. I 100% agree that all promoters could do more particularly in the summer holidays to appeal to the kids. I personally go to speedway to support my team and/or my fav riders. We run our Supporters Club with the fans in mind so, in normal times, we facilitate members going on the track walk, visiting the pits and having photos, doing the coin toss (with photo), watching a race from the centre, watching from a hospitality box, all sorts of competitions for the kids, free raffle for members, we have printed out A4 race cards for the kids, run a 50/50 draw every meeting, SUPERDRAW once a month, Member of the Week in the prog and online, run the End of Season party, we've done quiz nights and rider nights in the past. We wish our riders good luck online for every Stars meeting, we post about their Championship matches and scores etc. We currently take photos of our riders and put them online weekly. We buy our riders personalised artwork at the end of the season and chose members to present them, we run the rider of the year voting and our members present the trophies ..... It's amazing how big the list is when you promote everything you do ....
  17. I have often wondered if 2 lap races would be exciting or not, they didn't ought to let the riders get spaced out for sure. I love league racing (my team still exists) with two teams going hammer and tongues at each other and if every promotion has a good centre grey guy giving partisan commentary and banter involving the supporters from both teams that can make for a fantastic night out imo .... we generally don't have these guys at every club .... There's lots of other touches promoters can give to race nights too that don't cost a cent but which enrich the night for the fans. As for doubling up and down, we just have to do it at the mo, I personally don't have a problem as long as I think the guys are giving my team 100%, it never enters my head on a race night that he'll be racing for a different team tomorrow!
  18. I expect Troy's form to now pick up for Sheffield really!
  19. Nobody does that these days, even the slightest possibility of a spot of rain they don't turn out!!!!
  20. Been there, done that, got the treble twice .....
  21. The promoters need every single fan they can get coming through the turnstiles so an early all off when the weather forecast is rubbish (which will 100% put fans off attending) is 100% the right call!! All our clubs could be in a Newcastle/Brum position .....
