Chris Louis Farewell Meeting
Trees replied to Badge's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
This meeting will be well attended I bet, it's a shame that Chris didn't race for Lynn when he was thinking about it, I wonder if racing at Saddlebow Road on a regular basis would have made any difference to Chris as a rider ................ he just couldn't leave Suffolk though!! I'd like to see Mark have his Farewell at Lynn, he raced for us longer than any club after all, under a different promoter granted ..... -
Ain't you got an equivalent to SKY down there, get it televised next year so we can see it on the net or whatever!!!!! Come on the aussies make it happen
-
But you haven't seen him race round Armadale! Probably never will!!

World U21 Final 3rd October Gorican
Trees replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
Received my DVD today .............. at last!!! .................. was certainly good to watch how it all panned out, Darcy certainly did it the hard way, nice move inside in his 2nd ride, that caught em unawares and a good dice with Henka's boy (who one day we'll see at Lynn I guess?) in his 4th but sensibly held the 2nd place Interesting to hear what he said about his preparation for the meeting beforehand. Shame about Tai, he was so fast and smooth on the day .............. that's speedway though I guess. Was impressed with Hougaard and Janowski. -
Here's a copy of an interesting post I read recently: We all heard about Gorzow in Poland obtaining the rights to stage SWC event. The local newspaper 'Gazeta Lubuska' has just revealed "the juicy" details regarding the deal Gorzow's Mayor struck with the BSI. According to the newspaper: In order to obtain the rights to stage SWC, Gorzow's Town Hall (City Council) had to comply with 41 conditions put in front of them by the BSI. Among others, the Town Hall has to provide and pay for several rooms and one apartment in "the best hotel in town" for the BSI delegation at the time of the event duration, as well as for air tickets, three cars and translators. BSI will also be given, free of charge, 250 tickets for the best seats on the Main Stand, and 50 further (and more, if required) tickets at half price The Town Hall has to "ensure availability ( at no cost to BSI) of four girls to be present at the starting gate", and those girls "must be accepted in advance (of the event) by BSI. Apart from that the Town has to act according to all reasonable requests from the BSI.. The most important condition is that Gorzow, for the rights of staging the event has to pay BSI 300 thousand British Pounds. But that's not the whole cost Gorzow have to bear. There are advertising boards to be bought, security forces to be hired and all other costs involved in staging such a event. The list of BSI responsibilities is much shorter, and consists only of two points. The BSI is to supply their own air fence, decoration box and advertising board used as a background during TV interviews, and clothes for the track staff - if deemed necessary. They will also supply six blank advertising banners, which Gorzow can sell to interesting companies, on condition that BSI will approve them. Other conditions are no less interesting. Gorzow is not to undertake any activity, or voice opinions which might be seen as harmful to BSI reputation, renown and image. In other words Gorzow has to keep its mouth shut. Also when it comes to disclosing any details from their agreement, which the local newspaper has just revealed All in all the whole document consists of 15 pages. When Gorzow's mayor together with Gorzow speedway team chairman recently boasted about the news of signing the agreement with BSI, they did not reveal any details. The City Councillors were not very happy when they heard that everything had already been agreed and signed behind their backs. After all any public money which is to be spent has to be agreed by the whole Council. And councillors learned the details not at the City Council meeting, but from the local newspaper. The last nail in the coffin - so to speak - happened to be the news that the first 50 thousand GB Pounds ought to be paid four days after signing this agreement. The newspaper revelation quickly reached the BSI who sent an e-mail to the Gorzow Mayor with questions about how the details of their agreement leaked to the press. They were very unhappy about it and complained bitterly that the agreement was confidential.

Perhaps our boys just lack belief in their own abilities, that's probably why so many stay in the PL. They need as much track time on big tracks as they can get so they feel confident on the huge Polish tracks and do the job required. Most bloody world championship rounds and of course the GP series are held on big tracks, no good riding great round the likes of Rye House then thinking you can do it in Poland etc ................. are my thoughts wrong?

An icy, slick track eh, haven't they done their homework very well?

A little birdy tells me he won the meeting too Update to this is a meeting report that was posted by Howard on the yahoogroups speedway list .................... Just home from Undera & Broadford, I'll split the reports into two. On a track where the riders I spoke to all said they liked and loved racing on Undera had a really enjoyable meeting. Highlight for me was the return to the track of Mark Jones and it wouldn't have mattered to me how he went, I was just glad to see him back where I think he belongs. Turns out he won the meeting !! In the heats he had three wins from his first three outings and a third place in his last heat where he knew he was in the final and was happy to stay third after that's where he found himself after they gated. In the final it was a terrific tussle in the first attempted running between Mark (red) and Jake Anderson (yellow). There was never more than a bike length in it with Jones gating, Anderson passing Jones up the inside on lap 2 and Jones returning the compliment soon after. On turn 3 of lap 3 Anderson went in hard looking to go underneath Jones again but unfortunately came unstuck. Jones won the rerun fairly easily and to be honest the gap of two years since he last rode didn't look to have lessened his skill on a bike at all. After the meeting he said more than anything he was pleased he hadn't forgotten how to pass (referring to the pass on Jake Anderson in the final).
