  1. I disagree with that especially in these latter years, he always congratulates the winners etc ............ I hope he goes on to win it now, he's too good a rider to never have been world champion! I, too, am glad Holder hasn't broken anything but what injuries has he, same as Artur M, nothing more was said about him! Surprised to see Zorro up and seemingly uninjured too and fantastic lay down by Lindgren, super reactions that saved him and the others from any more injury .............. Also Pedersen earlier in the meeting, how did he not break a bone, was sure he must have hurt his ankle!
  2. British Finals years ago didn't take place on a Monday night did they, might have been a few more fans in attendance had it been on Saturday night like it should be, or even Sunday afternoon!!
  3. Wasn't it wrong set ups as has been said already, probably through lack of experience on tracks with plenty of dirt (perhaps ) and not enough grading being allowed (but that is always the way when SKY are in town, schedules to keep etc!)
  4. And who is the stupid person who keeps telling her (in her earpiece I presume) to ask a question the rider has just said the answer to, it's as though they aren't listening to what the rider has just said ........... the riders are much too polite to say, "I've just told you!" ..........
  5. Congratulations to Bomber on his fantastic gate and win in the final to become British Champion once again, how the heck he got off the back of that bike I will never know, thank god he did though!! Good to hear that Scott was so disappointed about being British Champion runner up, Louis had to persuade him to be happy to be riding at Cardiff, obviously the pride in being crowned THE best British rider means more to him than taking a ride at the British GP. At a time when british (there may be a Scot or Welshman supporting the english, you never know!!) people are showing their commitment to the English football team his comments were spot on Great to see Danny King doing so well, let's hope they can keep up the good form for the BSI/IMG WC As for the ref, buy that bloke some new glasses, better still revoke his refereeing licence!!
  6. Some decent racing for a change, should have sorted out the outside earlier than they did though, luckily no riders got badly injured, Heuwen told it like it is, "they have a schedule to keep, it's a break now so they can sort it" .......... never mind the lives/bodies/livelihoods of the riders, as long as the schedule is kept to, but that's modern day televised speedway! Let's hope he can keep that always eh. Particularly had to smile when, after Crumpy had been signalling to his team re the gate position he should pick for his semi, Chris, with only one to pick from, did the same to his team
  7. The BSPA wouldn't do bad if they found out about and maybe got involved and helped to market the virtual speedway racing that youngsters take part in on the net HERE ................. there seems to be a gaggle of guys at Lynn who are well into this, it's current and could be bigger. It could easily encourage youngsters to go to "live" speedway and possibly take the sport up?? Interesting to read the follow on from Neil Machin saying how costs have gone up for the riders in PL speedway, in the Star today. That is Stuart Douglas suggesting that EL costs are probably even higher than the PL. He's suggesting, which has been suggested on here many times before of course, that the EL needs to go for teams meeting each other only once home and away in a season and then only on Weds/Thurs nights to encourage more of the top men back to the league. He's also suggesting that the EL teams could then field a team in the PL or NL as well. With many of the teams now racing on Weds/Thurs nights is this what the long term plan is then I wonder? I could see it working although these new strong teams need then to attract loads more punters or would the SKY dosh be enough to cover costs ............ watch this space eh!
  8. Yes you did, I hadn't read it, till now, all your fault then!!
  9. Will get this DVD at some point, did Barry Briggs HAVE to swear in his interview, it's pretty unprofessional and unnecessary surely?
  10. Too right, but the Swedish teams were getting 3, 4, 5000, are brit crowds down by half or more? Sounds as though the Swedish clubs have budgeted ok though regards paying their riders.
  11. So Jonsson should have altered his line drastically to allow Gollob his line into the corner, easier said than done? Gollob would have known going into that pass that he would probably get himself or Jonsson excluded, u can very rarely go through a hole before the entry to a bend, unless u can keep very tight, without causing problems ..... Who cares anyway, there's another one in two weeks, then another, then another, then another, then another, then another and so on .........
  12. So refs in FIM meetings are not allowed to put all four back presumably, I definitely think all refs (and have done so for an age) should be able to put all 4 back if they cannot make a definite decision as to who was at fault, there are so many instances where this would apply, it's only fair after all, refs MUST BE FAIR!
  13. He didn't need to put his foot down going into the the turn then?
  14. Never had the pleasure of seeing Tommy race but he had it all it seemed, talent, looks and personality, such a tragedy
  15. Yeah lol, they never do that anymore, was it just a habit?
  16. 70's music is ace .................. good old Swindon
  17. Did they even try, they didn't need to unfortunately, they were following one another.
  18. More like he's highlighting how the UK doesn't go out of their way to help their own riders!! The EL boys qualified as expected. They were taking some different lines round the NA to what I expect, right wide on the 2nd bend and the same on the 4th. Nobody tried any cutbacks or anything. Richardson made that mistake on the 1st/2nd bend and crashed awkwardly, that was the end of his night, possibly the end of his first go at EL racing this season for a while too, dunno how badly he's injured. Good to see Darren Mallett holding his own again, keep up the great work!!
  19. Although I only caught speedway at the end of the 70's I'd say: Big Sunday afternoon meetings in the UK, with parades of cars etc 70's music The certain smell of the KL programmes soup Having no worries about standing directly behind the one wooden fence, bobbing down when the riders came past Being totally filthy after a meeting, dust in your hair, ears and nose lol The flags and bunting flying in the centre GREEN at Lynn Riders sitting on their bikes on the track before each race (something they should bring back!) The water bowser lorry at Lynn Track rakers!! BLRC at Belle Vue Wembley The anoraks you could buy underneath the stand at Lynn My yellow and green scarf Golden Helmet match races
  20. It's sad that the local fans didn't support this meeting, I hope we get a better turn out at Lynn next week, fans make or break meetings. Perhaps the BSPA would be better off negotiating with SKY to show the meetings on tv then they wouldn't have to rely on fans attending and we would all get to see the meetings
  21. One or both should be able to tell a rider to straighten his bike up surely? I think this tactic causes loads of probs in the first turn.
  22. Oh dear, that's what I wondered, I hope we get a better crowd at Lynn, should be a good meeting
  23. Oh they can, as everyone knows the result could have completely turned round after the results of two more rides! If it was in the rules then so be it though.
