  1. And that comes from one who has been there done that!
  2. It says this apparently: FIM president Vito Ippolito is content with the developments in the Speedway Grand Prix. “In countries, in which the Speedway Grand Prix gastiert, it is very successful”, means FIM president Vito Ippolito. “Global seen we are locally content also with the ratings in the television as well as with the number of fans. Now must be invested into the expansion of the series to make around it a world-wide event.” In addition, the 57-jährige Venezolaner sees problems in the course haven: “Contrary to nearly all other engine haven disciplines there is no support in the Bahnsoprt by the manufacturers. We talk however about a really attractive and spectacular kind of sport. Important it is therefore that we find methods and ways, to merge sponsors into the sport who have to do less with the motorcycles, but directly addresses the public.”
  3. And all could be lost to the GB if they get through to the GPs ............... who here wants to support that?
  4. Let's hope they presume right then. If they presume right british speedway will be overun with boys wanting track time, let's hope all the tracks can keep their heads above water til this presumption is realised! What a crazy set up. The worry must be that any sponsors gained will want that GP exposure not mere SGB but who knows.
  5. The FIM pay the riders so it's up to them to put the money up?? BSI/IMG pay their bit to the FIM and if they make any more it's theirs to keep, it's why they bought the promotional rights of the series.
  6. Perhaps the FIM should take the rights to the speedway world championship away from BSI for making a mockery of it!!
  7. Is there any possibility that BSI are trying to kill off world speedway on SKY? Surely once the SKY commentators are saying it's boring it's a death knell?
  8. Let's hope you're right HenryW, who knows what thoughts the riders in the challenge have in their heads ......................
  9. The british fans must not lose sight of the fact that their favourite club rider may decide to give the BEL a miss if they qualify for the GP series from this meeting ............ a sobering thought eh?
  10. They could always use 3 or 4 dates as qualifiers and then the other 3 or 4 GPs as the championship proper .................... give all the riders a chance every year!
  11. The brits should want to qualify on their own merit full stop.
  12. Well if us brits don't support em nobody will!!
  13. Certainly looked like a good crowd, I guess the Danes don't get a chance to see much speedway during the year so they push the boat out for their final ................ Nicki made a good pass in the final to win so congrats to him.
  14. And who are the top club's crowd pullers though? I personally don't think one big league would work cos there would be such a disparity of strength in the top and bottoms teams. The main thing is to have teams of similar strengths would could be crowd pullers wherever they go? And teams that the promoters can afford to employ!
  15. So the home promotion just runs the meeting like any other but doesn't have to pay out any wages to the riders but has to pay BSI to stage the meeting?
  16. BSI/IMG clearly earn good money from other sources to keep this GP in the series ......
  17. Don't they expect the race day track to be slicker, I sure do, that's the norm!
  18. That's good to hear Swifty, best wishes to them both!
  19. Talking about the cricket fraternity and other motorsports fraternites, would they put up with that cartoon mole popping up during their tv coverage, if that isn't making a joke of the sport I don't know what is!
  20. That's the truth and the sooner rules for speedway full stop are changed so the riders can give their best in every race no matter what, the better, thinking very much about British league racing here ......
  21. I guess the Polish riders have the same mentality as the Polish fans, they are all Polish people after all and know nothing less than top spot is good enough and perhaps expect to be booed when things aren't going right. That's why they keep winning the SWC!
