  1. Too right, but the Swedish teams were getting 3, 4, 5000, are brit crowds down by half or more? Sounds as though the Swedish clubs have budgeted ok though regards paying their riders.
  2. So Jonsson should have altered his line drastically to allow Gollob his line into the corner, easier said than done? Gollob would have known going into that pass that he would probably get himself or Jonsson excluded, u can very rarely go through a hole before the entry to a bend, unless u can keep very tight, without causing problems ..... Who cares anyway, there's another one in two weeks, then another, then another, then another, then another, then another and so on .........
  3. So refs in FIM meetings are not allowed to put all four back presumably, I definitely think all refs (and have done so for an age) should be able to put all 4 back if they cannot make a definite decision as to who was at fault, there are so many instances where this would apply, it's only fair after all, refs MUST BE FAIR!
  4. He didn't need to put his foot down going into the the turn then?
  5. Never had the pleasure of seeing Tommy race but he had it all it seemed, talent, looks and personality, such a tragedy
  6. Yeah lol, they never do that anymore, was it just a habit?
  7. 70's music is ace .................. good old Swindon
  8. Although I only caught speedway at the end of the 70's I'd say: Big Sunday afternoon meetings in the UK, with parades of cars etc 70's music The certain smell of the KL programmes soup Having no worries about standing directly behind the one wooden fence, bobbing down when the riders came past Being totally filthy after a meeting, dust in your hair, ears and nose lol The flags and bunting flying in the centre GREEN at Lynn Riders sitting on their bikes on the track before each race (something they should bring back!) The water bowser lorry at Lynn Track rakers!! BLRC at Belle Vue Wembley The anoraks you could buy underneath the stand at Lynn My yellow and green scarf Golden Helmet match races
  9. 100% ....................... the old promoters were more inventive/intuitive were they not, as were the riders probably!
  10. Agreed, they go OTT, why?? Are viewing figures dwindling or summat or do commentators believe that if they shout excitedly about the sport then the viewers will get excited too, it's got to be it cos when I sometimes have to suffer the footy guys on SKY on a Saturday they are shouting down the mic too, fgs! Yeah was a decent meeting but I still think I've seen better from there when it was first used as a GP track, Crump alluded to the track not being as good as it is for league meetings .........
  11. Don't we all have an opinion, it all makes me LOL!! It's got to be about keeping everyone and everything pristinely clean on the night, is that speedway?
  12. Leszno has loads of lines on it doesn't it but surely there needs to be grip to use them? That was another reason I thought of that they showed the Poole v Cov VERY one sided meeting on a slick as track, to make the GP look good! Let's hope I'm talking poo as per usual eh
  13. Oh dear, no change there then (slick track on race day!!) lol
  14. Clubs should own all the engines, use a club tuner for servicing etc and the riders from both teams draw lots before the meetings. Allow the riders to have several laps of practice so they can get sorted too before the meeting starts.
  15. Exactly what I thought, it was a celebration of 82 years of speedway in GB, including 2010, what's wrong with these promoters and modern day riders!! The museum was great, gave them the old Stoke rattle I bought off ebay at last, they had already got the puzzle I took though! I hope they can expand the size of it. Thanks to all concerned!!
  16. Given that, as I read in Briggos 1975 book, he and Ivan Mauger had the idea of a World Championship Series in 1972 and he writes "I've always been a great one for the idea of running a series of maybe ten meetings in all the different major speedway countries." He also says in the same book re the Wembley World Final, "as things stand at the moment a lot of the proceeds are diverted back in to British Speedway by way of the annual share-out to tracks."
  17. I had to look all through this section of the forum to find the name, I wanted to hear it as much as you lol I couldn't remember the name of it but I could remember a thread months ago about speedway tunes Most youngsters don't understand how much that tune meant to us fans (still does ), I was only a kid when I started going to Lynn and certainly not into band music but it became part of the night for me, I always marched out of the stadium at the end of the meeting too Ahhhhhhhh those were the days
  18. Oh that's why he doesn't want/need to race in GB! oh well eh!
  19. Do the aussies have a nickname for Scots then or are we all Pomgolians haha
  20. Surely Chris will do the qualifiers in case he doesn't qualify from the 2010 GPs?
  21. Ain't you got an equivalent to SKY down there, get it televised next year so we can see it on the net or whatever!!!!! Come on the aussies make it happen
