Now read this letter, after receiving my second hand Star off a mate :-) An interesting read from a guy involved on the inside for the first time this year. He should write a list for Buster to take to the Conference and perhaps the Promoters will consider his points, even if they poopoo what he has to say it will stay with them and they may reconsider at the end of the day! Good on ya David!!!!

I should think it's because not much time is put into preparation of the tracks these days and they have hardly any material on them in the first place. I'm pretty sure nobody uses actual shale anymore either. Ask Buster ....

Well we must be a bit different at Lynn cos we changed from Saturdays to Wednesdays and the crowds aren't too bad. Although I dare say they might be better on a Saturday ..... no school for the kids, no work next day for away fans etc

Perhaps if fans were told how important grading is it may help and yeah a good mic man could easily keep the fans entertained!

So you are saying that when we had to give up all our Saturdays things started to go bad, crikey!!!!!! Many riders don't understand fan mentality for sure. Not sure that promoters do either!

You say governed by age but what if, like Kerr and Rose, they start in their twenties, twenty is young, it's their experience/lack of experience that counts?

I don't mean who owns the clubs etc, I mean more the presentation, the interaction, getting the fans going, the drums, the chants, make it a fun night out regardless. For all this the promoters will have to really put some time and effort in and perhaps look outside the box. We need to get people talking about speedway, about the good night out. The mic men will have to put some thought into what they are saying, understand the fans mentality and the music that is played is vital. The riders will have to connect with the crowd, not just a half arsed wave after a race, they need to think club, think fans, think future of their sport/their jobs. I know we aren't Polish but you only have look at our football crowds to hear how passionate we are about our clubs. Have to try something ............

Sounds like what happened over here in the 60s when tracks like Norwich were shut down and sold off cos crowds went down from 20000 to 10000 or whatever it was!!

Like your reasoning UK martin, for completely selfish reasons I'd like us to be able to keep all our local boys so yeah be allowed to have either Robert or Lewis K at reserve. I was thinking that the EL could carry on with one FTR at number 7 but with one of the many exceptional 2014 FTRs to be able to either stay at 6 or in the team proper together with some of the other good Brits who missed out on FTR berths this season but with their places protected. It would be good for them to be able to strive to get in the team proper and take more rides if at reserve for starters. We'll see eh!

Good meeting, would have liked to have seen Lynn beat the Heathens and they had the advantage in the last heat for about 2 laps but the Heathens stole it :-( Well done to them! Hope they get a stadium soon and move up a league or two so another team has the chance of winning something in the BNL lol

The promoters only have to look at the Polish model to see what they need to do to get young people to speedway and it ain't all about the racing ....... do they ever consider promotion of the sport at their meetings? Perhaps they all think they have it right? Wrong!!

Lack of atmosphere may actually put young people off, that is easily sorted with a little effort?

Promoters need to strive to build a good whole club atmosphere for riders, sponsors, media and fans. If you have a promoter who is good at this then no worries. Every promoter should try harder in this department IMO!! As a fan if your club is still in existence they will surely always be number one. I bet some of the folk bemoaning our league do not have teams to support?

I'd rather have egg and chips at home and be able to afford to go to speedway :-D

Rubbish, team racing is good still, what the need to do away with is that daft transfer window which certainly backfired!

Perhaps the promoters and riders don't make it clear how important grading is? I'd like to see more in the hope of better racing and less falls which are caused by the build up of material on the outside of tracks/near the kickboards!

Come back to the EL Panthers, sooooo miss our rivalry and my visits to your great track!! Good luck Trevor Swales, his heart is with the club, now all the fans need to come back out of the woodwork!!!!!!!!!
