SGP of Europe - Chorzow Poland 17th May
KevH replied to Papa Bazarou's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
That's what I thought when I heard the decision taken with Loram - If Andreas lodgesan appeal, and imo he should, the FIM will find it extremely hard to justify not awarding him the points. I believe the correct decision was taken with Mark, and the five points he got were a result of his qualifying position from last year so they were deserved - he earnt them on the track. He will be at a disadvantage in the next GP because he'll have to start in the qualifiers, so what goes round comes round. A good decision from the FIM, only spoilt because they haven't (yet) extended the ruling to Andreas. -

The crowds at Waterden Road were "extremely disappointing", but it has to be said that the promotion could have been better. People living only a few miles from the track were unaware that speedway had returned.

Picture 30 - Barney Kennett Picture 4 - l to r - Les Rumsey, Ted Hubbard, Trevor Jones, Merv Jenke???, Ross Gilbertson, JSH, Graham Banks, Dave Piddock and Barney Kennett. I'll be back. ;-) -

I know Seb Ulamek is one of the wild-cards on Saturday - who's the other?

Thanks for the clarification Steve - now you can see how much we need the village back :!:
-
If the rider is Barry Crowson the photo must have been taken in either 1968 or 1970, but the only year Kings Lynn rode in the old Second Division was 1969 - the mystery deepens!

The doggie racing people might think that Canterbury speedway was the downfall of Canterbury and Speedway Well if they do - who cares? Canterbury and Speedway both benefited from the Crusaders and if you think any different - go watch dog racing

Don't do that Lioness, I at least, find many of your posts very amusing - crack open another tin of Irn-bru and hit that keyboard.
-
I can't help thinking that commercial interests will have a bearing on the final deciision - so think about it - name two riders who come from well supported tracks who have no other representative. ;-)
-
I remember that meeting like it was yesterday and it's my opinion that the apre-race clash was no accident ;-) Another meeting which comes to mind was the Internationale at Wimbledon circa 1974 - Billy Sanders made his debut in the meeting, replacing someone who was injured and rode like a World Champion - I can't remember if he won the meeting but I know he came close.
