  1. Wow... 18 years since I have posted on here. So long without speedway in Exeter. I still watch and enjoy Speedway and was interested where it was being broadcast next year, hence my visit to the forum. The reason I am posting though - I am a VirginMedia customer and get Eurosport as a part of my TV package. When Eurosport announced their closure, VirginMedia contacted me to say they were giving me TNT Sports for free until the end of my current contract as I was a regular Eurosport watcher (I didn't watch anything more than Speedway and Grand Tours but that was enough to qualify it seems). Not a long term solution as my contract expires next February, but gets me through this season and to the end of the current Speedway TV contract. Thought others might be interested, as it might be worth contacting VirginMedia to try and get this 'deal' if they have not been offered it.
  2. No plans ruined - just ideas as nothing further was booked....... 400 Got refund through this morning but going to delay sorting anything else out until New Year as I've got another hol to enjoy first
  3. Flying with BA was £52 return. No wonder they said the route was unprofitable!!
  4. I wasn't going to the Latvia for the GP but this does effect me as I did have flights booked to go there. So far, I have heard nothing from BA themselves - they have given me no notification of the cancellation and no refund as things stand. British Airways to halt flights to Riga in 2007 British Airways has announced that it will stop flights between London and Riga from 25 March 2007. BA's official representative for the Baltic countries and Finland, Toms Andersons, explained that the route was not profitable enough. Anyone who has bought tickets for flights after that date will get a refund. BA has been operating flights on the route since 1997. Riga airport’s marketing director, Liene Freivalde, said that Ryanair and airBaltic will keep flying to London while KLM, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, SAS and CSA will offer intercontinental traffic to other airports around the world, via hubs other than London.
  5. Received this email through my website. Please bring to the attention of anyone you think might be interested. Thanks Paul. International Open 2006 in Argentina I am writing this e-mail to invite you to take part in the ‘International Open 2006 in Argentina’, which will take place between 8th January and 26th February 2006 in Bahia Blanca, 630km (390miles) south of the city of Buenos Aires, with a population of 150,000. It is the middle of summer at this time of year and the city is very passionate about Speedway, last year saw the fiftieth anniversary of the sport, which has a lot of tradition in Argentine society. There are various touristy towns with beautiful beaches an hours drive from the city, which you could enjoy in your free time. The championship will take place in a small area of no more than 250km (155miles) from one track to another, which means there would not be a lot of travelling involved. Argentine tracks are between 300 and 350 metres long (980-1150 ft), very smooth, wide and bump free, which are the optimal ground conditions for good bike-control. Most of our riders are young with a lot of energy to win and to develop themselves within the sport. They always want to learn from the more experienced European riders and they always aim to take part in European leagues. All of the bikes that they use are Laydown and most of them have Jawa engines, but the economic situation and the lack of parts mean that the mechanics have to devise means to get the best performance out of the engines. In previous years we have been proud to host riders of different riding levels, for example: Armando Castagna (Italy), Claus Kristensen (Denmark), Tony Svab (Czech Republic), Emiliano Sanchez (Argentina), Simone Terenzani (Italy), Thomas Sthaldert (Austria), Peter Heller (Germany), Manuel Hausinger (Austria), Dean Garrow (UK), Crish Hesmer (Canada), Gaetan Carignan (Canada) etc. Taking part in the ‘International Open in Argentina 2006’ would give you the great advantage of being on the other side of the hemisphere and give the opportunity to young riders to be able to train and get international experience competing on different types of tracks, with different riders and ways of competing. For the more experienced among you it would be a way of training during the winter break in Speedway in the northern hemisphere and to be in tip-top condition to start racing in the different leagues there. The organisation ‘Speedway Extreme’ is being promoted by its president Carlos Villar* and a group of young enthusiasts and experienced people from the motor world, who hope to make the sport bigger and more popular on a national and international level. Anyone who is interested should reply to this e-mail by 30th September to allow time to organise and plan in advance to avoid any complications. We also ask you to tell your rider friends and if they are interested they should get in touch as soon as possible! *Carlos Villar (30) is an ex-Speedway rider who had an accident in 2003 riding in the British league for Berwick Bandits and broke his spine, which left him paraplegic. With his experience, strength and will he is organising this project and we hope for your support and collaboration. 6. Think you will find you have a bet on Hans Andersen to be World Champion @ 25/1 - not a 25/1 bet for him to win Wroclaw GP If I'm wrong then well done - nice odds!
  7. Been there once - it's an excellent track but I couldn't help you on how to get there as I was too busy making sure I didn't hit a tram while being told to turn left etc at the very last minute by a Pole. Hot-Dogs on the 1st/2nd bend highly recommended!
