  1. And don't forget WE are in the second tier of Speedway! He doesn't need to be as good as his dad! 60% would be amazing. 40% would be acceptable. Surely the thing is that he has someone in his corner who has been there seen it done it AND got the T shirt. Funny thing is Sheffield get criticised for recycling their asset base every year and then when they try something different guess what!
  2. your alcohol affected memory is quite correct. In fact James and Andre were the only Tigers to beat a Rocket all night! I seem to remember we weren't so bothered about the result that night as none of us thought we were going to win. Seem to remember Edberg riding round in his Jock strap. Should have rode a bike . Boom boom! BTW didnt we finish second in the play offs in 2010 as well? With that fantastic comeback against the monarchs?,
  3. Slight correction! He made his debut for SHEFFIELD on his 16th Birthday the season before he signed for Scunny, so we'd heard of him cos he'd been riding second halves there every week!!
  4. You're right of course, but those who were at the STAARs meeting the other night will have heard how parlous the situation is. They have a 3 point strategy for survival. 1. Win at home, 2 build the asset base, 3 control the finances. This season is about guerrilla tactics for survival, and that means winning at home to keep the several hundred more that go to HOME meetings happy. The view shared at STAARs was that you won't get a better rider round Owlerton on an average as low as Richard's (which obviously has the downside of his away form in the past). If this is the last throw of the dice they HAVE to win at home and anything else is a bonus. Not great but reality.
  5. Whatever the ins and outs of what really happened, there is still something not right about the change to the result at Lakeside. By deducting Eddie and Nick's points scored on the dodgy bike, they have turned a Coventry away win into a home win, fair enough. But let's just say that it was a Coventry home meeting and they had won the meeting 55-35 say. By deducting 18 points from Coventry they would still have won by a couple of points and the opposition riders would have lost hundreds of pounds. They don't give the opposition the benefit of the points deduction which is, in my view, crazy. It happens every time a rider's points are taken away. The just action is to take the points away and to restate all of the races that the rider rode in. Moving every other rider up a place in the heats where (in this example) Eddie rode and in the Heat Nick was on Eddies bike. In this way the 18 points would be effectively given to the other team, and the riders who have been adversely affected by the illeagal bike are reimbursed.
  6. Regardless of the Percentage, that 1.5 miles per hour would mean that the next fastest man after Ricky Ashworth would have finished 40.4 metres behind him, which is extremely significant in a Speedway race!!
  7. Have the same photo Nutz (in fact a whole sequence). Wrong decision IMO
  8. To take this debate to the ultimate extreme, just give the thing to the rider with the highest average and have done with it. Then nobody can complain. After all what's the point in having the meeting if the aim is for the guy who is most consistent home and away all season to win it. Well done Champ! Best man on the day!
  9. Damn wish I'd known. I went to the 1987 final on the coach with you and Roland Danno
  10. I was lucky enough to be there last season and I remember Jason Crump describing it as being 100mph into a right angled bend. The track is so huge they only do three laps, and the "safety fence" is solid concrete. A great show though with extreme Motocross and midgets in the bill. Wish I was there this time.
  11. Kyle will walk over hot coals to be in the PLRC. His first goal of the season was to be in this. Luckily it seems nothing is broken from initial tests, nerve damage mainly
  12. SAINT. I've waited long enough!! It was Ricky Ashworth!! Agree re Richard Hall and posted the same on the Sheffield Forum this AM
