  1. Just spoken to someone at the stadium - they are waiting until 4pm before they decide if the meeting is on or off.
  2. Does anyone know the lineups for this meeting? There is nothing on the Fen Tigers website yet but a few minutes ago it was announced that Mark Baseby is riding in the British Masters Grasstrack Championship down in Kent on Sunday: http://members.boardhost.com/Grasstracknet/msg/1313056397.html I can only assume that Mildenhall knew about this fixture clash before they signed him earlier on in the season.
  3. Really sorry for Lewis who is having awful luck with injuries this year. Ironically his fall in Heat 10 arguably won us the meeting. If he had stayed on to score a point then Dudley would surely have got an 8-1 in the next heat and the final result could have been very close indeed. Impressed by Kyle Hughes who is a class act at this level of the sport. Good to see Jake getting his confidence back again. Good also to see so many Dudley fans making the long journey down to Norfolk - they certainly outnumbered the few home fans in the Royal Box last night! Hope both Lewis and Scott make quick recoveries otherwise Dale is going to have real problems.
  4. Sadly I could not make it to the Forum last night. Was anything said about the outcome of the Court case?
  5. I see that a Judgement has now been delivered in the Court case about noise nuisance from the stadium and potentially it appears to be bad news. Basically, the Judge has awarded some damages to the claimants for past noise nuisance although the amounts involved are relatively small. More importantly, the Judge is also going to impose future noise restrictions on the stadium if the parties cannot come to an agreed limit on noise. Between the hours of 8am and 8pm he is minded to restrict noise levels at the boundary of the claimants' property to an average of 45dB over a 15 minute period. Even tougher restrictions of 37dB will apply after 8pm. I’m not an expert on the subject of noise levels so don’t know how this will affect the running of speedway but it is bound to have some effect - to give some idea of how really restrictive these limits are a normal conversation gives rise to about 55 dB of noise! The full Judgement can be seen at: http://www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWHC/QB/2011/360.html The Judgement runs to 64 Pages but the important bit about future noise restrictions is in paragraph 245. Hopefully Dave Coventry will be able to shed some further light on the situation at the Fans' Forum tonight.
  6. Does anyone know the final outcome of the recent court case? The hearings in the High Court appear to have stopped about 10 days ago and the Judge involved has now moved on to another case. Despite this I can’t find any mention of the outcome on here or elsewhere. Has anyone got any further information?
  7. Great to have such a positive outcome after all the ups and downs of the last few months. The link with the Ipswich promotion is especially good news. I just hope that His Honour Judge Seymour doesn't put another spanner in the works at the conclusion of the current court case!
  8. More of interest in the Cambridge News today concerning the current Court case: http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/Newmarket/Racetrack-row-pair-had-home-torched.htm
  9. I enjoyed the Fours yesterday and congratulate Birmingham on a well deserved victory. However, I also felt ripped off by all the extra charges at this event. The biggest rip off though was the price of the beer in the Showground bar. They had the cheek to charge £3.20 for a pint of Carlsberg and then serve it in a cheap flimsy plastic glass. No doubt the Health and Safety brigade had something to do with this or was it just penny pinching by the Showground owners. The irony is that the Harvester pub at the entrance to the Showground charge just £2.25 for the same beer and they serve it in a proper glass! I won't be returning to the Showground in a hurry .
  10. Everyone seems to be blaming Ray without knowing any of the facts. According to the story in the Cambridge News* today there were no "offers on the table" because everyone who looked at the books realized that the Club was losing money hand over fist and they all walked away. Instead of blaming Ray people should be sympathising with him. He is a pensioner who stepped into to save the Club last time round and, like Simon beforehand, he has lost thousands of pounds of his life savings in a very short period of time. Then all he gets on here and elswhere is a load of abuse. Who would want to be a speedway promoter? * http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/Sport/Other-Sports/Fen-Tigers-set-to-shut-up-shop-for-season.htm
  11. I am deeply saddened by this news. Jean suffered with her health over many years but she always managed to keep a smile on her face. My deepest sympathy goes to Ray and the family. Graham

  13. Presumably the Stars v Newport meeting planned for 29th August will now be re- scheduled because having two meetings in two days will prove a bit expensive for the home fans. Finding another date could prove difficult though after all the recent rain-offs.
  14. I watched the programme yesterday and it gave an interesting insight into all the hurdles Russ and Claire face - and that was even before the latest setback! It seems like a huge financial gamble trying to establish a new speedway venture in a country like Spain but I hope it pays off eventually. On a personal note it was nice to see a few shots of Russ riding around the Norfolk Arena.
