  1. The BIG MAN was wonderful company.....he and Ian were magical, but it went horribly wrong and Ian got left with most of the Newcastle debts, which ended up with him losing his house. The fall out was monumental..and Ian was understandably very bitter.....Brian was amazing company a genuinely larger than life guy. It's good to know the old boy is flogging yachts in the sunshine...that sounds like him...he would make a brilliant subject for Tony mac..send his my fond wishes..JAMES EASTER.
  2. I would genuinely doubt that Rick Frost would contenance anything so stupid. He owns a HUGE very very profitable business, his sponsorship factors would be legitimate and legal. He is an honest and shrewd man. His disenchantment is more about internal Speedway factions and the way the "circus" decisions have been made with the resultant adverse effect it has had on his promotion.
  3. Simply cannot wait...I love this magazine..read it from front/cover. Tony Mac is a brilliant journo...and if you need an Xmas prezzie..get a sub to this mag...
  4. Totally correct Phil.....the only problems in all of this would the 1. The Showground who just may say "No more"...and any incoming tennant would need some form of guarantee on a lease 2.What price Mr Frost would set on his assets. 3. If the business has lost money...then what level headed buyer would pay good money for it ?..4.I would suggest that any incoming prospective promoter must not have the name of Ribbans !!!
  5. Nobody with an ounce of brain cells would pay 1 single penny for any "Rider Assets"...it simply doesn't make commercial or legal sense. The only way in law a rider has asset value is if all contracts were held by say the BSPA...then they could apportion/value that asset. The value of any business is in its Goodwill and actual (physical) asset value. You can ask what you like for a business..even say £500k...but something is only worth what somebody will pay....simple really.
  6. You would all be staggered to know that there are/were bIG names who signed a massive contract...but getting teh dough is another factor all together. I can recall people who were owed £25k..and still went to Poland in teh hopes of getting paid, which of course they never did. One deal was the rider was deducted 10% on his deal every time he missed a match..for whatever reason..including injury..and that is by reports quite normal. With a new pay deal..75% of not very much is still better than 100% of **** all....business sense is beginning to take hold..possibly 5 years too late, but better late than never.
  7. Indeed a thoughtful and erudite posting, point well made.
  8. Middlo is simply the most ideal man for the job. England Team Manager is seriously the very worst Speedway position ever and he has done it with honesty, enthusiasm and ability. Some of these comments on here obviously come from people who have never ever held any job in the sport, who like to express their opinions, which as long as they are polite and honest they have every right to do so. So Middlo Couldn't persuade Nicholls to race..what a joke..if you only knew the real story !!!...Middlo is putting his business, family and heath first, how sensible and right. And by the way he doesn't read this forum, so criticise all you like, if it makes you feel better.
  9. Its because of the severe winters in Finland...the base, and initial top surafce goes in before the frosts and deep snow. That's the main structural work done, as was in progress when I was at the stadium 2 weeks ago...impressive stadium and shape. When they get to spring all they have to do is to let teh natural frosts come out, then finish off the man job...thats same principle as operated in Sweden on existing tracks.
  10. The track isn't narrow..they have taken in the apex of the turns..and plenty of room going in....it will be a great race track
  11. There's more chance of Hell freezing over than the Louis' ever ever taking Ippo into what is after all a failing league...especially as the Sky cash cow is about to fade away.
  12. A sensible question..I know of a nice stadium in Sarasota....questions need to be asked !!!
  13. What i need to know please..dates of GERMAN LONG TRACKS...prefer GP..but any good meeting will do, especially in Bavaria...also any German Speedway/Long Track..14 September.......many thanks
  14. VERY MANY THANKS....2 visits to Finland !!!......Anyone in Germany who knows anything about the Long Tracks..I would be very interested
  15. has anyone got any information please on the 2014 Long Track finals,...one of which I believe is at VECHTA.... thanks in anticipation james
  16. Simply cannot wait for new events at Kabul, Baghdad, Mumbai, Yellow Knife (Look that one up),Tehran, Pyongyang,Ulaanbaatar, and possible Halifax.....positively drooling my dears !!
  17. Yep..can remember bringing him and Jimmy over on a Getingarna tour of UK..both 16..I arranged all the meetings with Anders Michanek...great fun. Then helping them both get English clubs with Bob Radford..despite huge hurdles placed by the implacable and rigid Dick Bracher of SCB..a man who had so much control but frankly knew bugger all about speedway.
  18. Not related to master Gollob..but a few years agao we had a young lady watching the pre-meeting fireworks...Got a hot particle in her eye..taken immediately to this very modern Bydgoszcz hospital A & E...seen in 10 minutes..sorted..back in the stadium by heat 8...I defy anyone in UK to get such superb attention & treatment.
  19. Just thought his detractors, would be delighted to know that his funeral was attended by well over 300 people. Chapel was full, outside was full, many people heard teh service from teh Car Park. Lavish eulogys from experienced senior people from BBC..Sky..Newspapers...Sussex County Cricket, Brighton FC..etc..etc. Extremely moving, the old boy was plainly held in High esteem by people of judgement and knowledge. as they said..quiet he was not, enthusiastic he for sure was, with a deep love for his Cricket,Football and speedway. Only hope when I turn up my Toes, people will think as highly of me. Top Man Millard, you certainly were a One Off.
  20. Well done Tomasz...a nice little earner £20 e/way @ 12/1...a little information always helps..
  21. Well said Master Kevin....I always liked him and enjoyed many a beer at the Speedway Star Golf day...highly thought of at Sky TV...and in his earlier years was highly inovative with his Speedway Info lines..which made him more than a few shillings it must be said....will miss him
  22. I am fortunate enough to have been able to count Tony as a friend...I will miss him immensley, the Speedway Star Golf day will never be teh same. RIP my old mate..always great company.James Easter
  23. Sadly, very sadly have to advise all our many clients that David Comellio passed away today after an extremely brave fight against Cancer. Our thoughts and I can hopefully assume those of our Travel Plus family are with Joy at this very sad time. RIP my friend......James Easter
  24. Very sad news today from Kathrin, that dear old Guenter Sorber passed away at home today. He was a giant in Speedway from early 1970's right up to turn of the century. Not everyone's stein of Bier, but he always had a true and lasting love of the sport. Thoughts are with Astrid and Kathrin. James
