Kent Kings meet Borneo's first ever speedway rider at Margate http://www.kentkings..._web500x333.jpg Kent Kings at Margate Beech Cross. http://www.kentkings..._web500x333.jpg Photos supplied by Essex Sports Agency.

Margate was fantastic with over 1000 flyers handed out and lots of interest. We took three bikes, 2 riders, 1 new set of kevlars, a couple race jackets, lots of posters and flyers. For an early view of the photos check out our Facebook page, full photos will be on the official website later this week thanks to Tony & Denise Fowles. When you check out the photos later this week there are some very interesting ones that could have the following captions. "How many Kings does it it take to put up a gazebo" "Kings sign Borneo's first ever speedway rider, but will have to make a much larger race jacket" "Morley decides to try four wheels instead of two" And Finally "Only Fools & Kings Jolly Boy Outing to Margate"

Thanks for the comments all, Just a quick update that myself, Ben Morley and David Mason will be at the Margate Beech Cross event this weekend with our flyers, racejackets etc. Also watch out the week after next for our Press Release about our unique new sponsorship deal with another sport..........

If anyone is in Margate this weekend come and say Hi as we promote the Kent Kings at the International Beech Cross event.
-
Kent Kings new signing and No 1, from Canterbury, Kents own - Steve Boxall. Check out the website for full press release.

Hi Thanks for the feedback. As I have said before, the drip feeding of the riders is aimed at new potential fans and is a way of keeping the local press interested in the Kings week in, week out. I appreciate to hardcore speedway fans it may seem strange but we are promoting very hard to a new audience and yes it is working as the publicity we are getting in Kent is tremendous. Speedway fans for years have asked promoters to promote and that is what we are doing. We have a promotional strategy in place and are working through it.
-
There is nothing that says you have to declare by the preview issue but I have reminded the promotion it is out then. It will certaintly make predicting the league interesting if the full team has not been declared.

Hi We didnt have a stand at the Celebration of Speedway although I was there throughout the day, wearing our new Kent Kings coat, and was interviewed in the Marquee and also by the production company that were there, about our new venture. It was great to see so many people come over and introduce themselves and put faces to names, and also so meet many new people who were so pleased to see that we are running. Also managed to hand out over 250 of our new business card/flyers. Hope that clarifies the situation. Regards Nikko

Kent Kings are pleased to annonce our third rider is Connor Coles. Full details on our website later today.

Had a great day at the Celebration of Speedway at Paradise Park today and it was fantastic to meet so many people and be able to put faces to names. Thanks for all the positive comments and support, it was amazing to have so many people come up and wish the team well for this season, and beyond. Thanks also to Craig Saul for the 2 interviews so I could promote the club as well. Regards Neil "Nikko" Day

The interviews were on the Listen Again section of the BBC Radio Kent website for the Breakfast Show of the 7th February. I believe they only keep the Shows on Listen Again for 7 days but may still be there. Regards Nikko

Kent Kings fixtures on our website.

Thanks for the continued posts and interest. We were very pleased with the radio coverage, and as one of my friends says, I have a great face for radio!!! We are talking with local TV and expect an interview shortly to continue to spread the word about the Kings. With regards to the "drip feed" of the riders, we have a strategy in place to keep the name of the Kings in the public eye throughout the lead up to the season although its fair to say we will want to have the whole team named in time for some "team" media events. I will be at Paradise Park on Sunday, wearing one of our new "Team Jackets" so if anyone is around and wants to come and say "Hello" it would be good to meet you. Nikko

Kent Kings are pleased to announce the second rider is Ben Morley. Details on our website.
-
Hope the above 2 posters don't mind if I make a slight correction. The Kent Kings are a brand new club and are not Rye House. Appreciate Len is our co-promoter and we have asked John to manage the team but the clubs promoter is Roger Cearns and the club are a completely separate entity to Rye House. Cheers Nikko PS - looking forward to seeing loads of old friends when we visit West Row

Thanks for the kind comments, it certaintly was interesting carrying out a live interview at 6.40am from the Stadium!! I am also pleased to announce that, continuing our promotion of the Kings around Kent, myself and a couple of the riders will be at the Margate Beech Cross event on the 2nd & 3rd March with "flyers" to hand out. We will be taking down some bikes, racejackets etc so if anyone is around we look forward to seeing you in Margate that weekend. Regards Nikko

Check out our official website tonight for confirmation of who our opponents are for our first ever home meeting on 6th May......

Kent Kings will be interviewed live from the Stadium on the BBC Radio Kent's Breakfast Show on Thursday morning. Kings Commerical Manager Neil "Nikko" Day will be interviewed at 0730 and Co-promoter Len Silver at 0830.

I am pleased to announce that our first home meeting, on Bank Holiday Monday 6th May will include speedway and motorbike stands and attractions. These will start in the late morning, before the meeting itself so keep the Bank Holiday Monday in your diary, bring the whole family along, and join us for a days celebration of speedway, motorbikes and of course, our first ever home meeting. We are also looking for ex Kent speedway riders to join us in a "legends" parade before the meeting, so if you know of anyone, please contact me at nikko@kentkings.co.uk Details of the attractions will follow soon......

Hi all Thanks for the recent posts. We are planning on having a track staff meeting at the end of February and I am talking to Roger and Len about a Fans Forum around then, or early March. Regarding crowd levels we will have to wait and see but if the feedback we are getting at the moment is an indication it should be good. Regards Nikko
-
Look out for an announcement soon of a great event the Kent Kings will be attending in March...... The announcement will be on our website on Wednesday. 5000 unique style "flyers" have been ordered for us to promote the club at the event.
-
Thanks to Mike and Andy for the thoughts/comments, I had started a list of things to consider but this has saved some time. Thanks for taking the time to post. Regards Nikko
-
Certainly positive thinking from our captain there As you will have seen from Davids comments there are other riders who have signed and who will be announced. One thing to bear in mind is that we are working on gaining new supporters as well as traditional speedway fans and so one of our strategies is to keep the Kings in the local press constantly right up until our season starts and therefore it may be that the Promotion decide to drip feed signings over a longer period than is normal. David was interviewed this week and John Sampford has been interviewed for next weeks local papers. The announcement of the team over such a long period will seem strange to hardcore speedway fans but for new fans it keeps them reading about the Kings over the coming weeks/months and keeps our name and team fresh in their minds. In the meantime work progresses at the track, and if anyone is interested in joining the trackstaff please check out our website for details. Regards Nikko

Looks promising and very sensible to start communication with the council early....

Thank you for the comment. We took on board what people said they wanted in a website, hence why we have two versions, a full one and a mobile one for androids and iphones. Obviously the site will grow as further members of the team are announced. When the season starts there will also be live meeting updates and podcasts with news and interviews. Regards Nikko We are pleased to be able to bring back league racing to Kent, and wanted to identify with the whole county. Naming a team is always difficult but we liked the idea of keeping the kent logo and adding to it with the crown. We must remember that there are two other tracks in Kent at Iwade and Lydd and look forward to working with them both in the future.
