Rye House Raiders V's Eastbourne Eagles Sat 15th Aug 7pm
westhamboy66 replied to Hob Nob's topic in National League Speedway
More likely speedway won't be welcome soon. Could see it coming and we moaned about Ronnie Russell. Very little i like about the atmosphere at Rye these days . Perhaps you might like to express your opinions about Chessell to his face. -
Rye House V Workington 16/8/2015

Normally i would think at this stage of the season unless you were taking a look at someone for a potential spot for next year we might as well run with RR but as we have a Cup Semi to worry about then Leigh might just fit the bill. Would probably score reasonably well at home and as a recent Somerset rider he might just put in a decent meeting at The Oaktree and make the difference in the tie. -

westhamboy66 replied to Hob Nob's topic in National League Speedway
Well the New owner uses Len as the frontman and we all heard what he said about the work and improvements continuing during the summer as the work was hampered by the winter weather. So they close the area to the public then do nothing? Leave it to the winter and get cracking that is of course if they are not hampered again by the weather. My main gripe is that is the lack of viewing on all the bends and especially the exit from the second bend. Fine if you want to watch the racing from the home straight which i don't. One other thing that was interesting was Andrew's race card notes where he mentioned that he couldn't offer Spiller a team place because for some reason the training school is not operating to his satisfaction due to the new management. A lot of friendly faces have disappeared gradually this season to be replaced by the bloke who must be in the Guinness Book of records for carrying the biggest bunch of keys in the world and the large security bloke who feels the need to capture everyone's attention as you arrive. As far as the meeting went pretty entertaining with Eastbourne deserving exactly what they got. -
Can't say i would go with the big top three if we once again need to use RR to cover for absence ...Look at NBJ this season missing meetings for Meetings that clash in his diary. Missing against Edinburgh and at Plymouth in the same week and we got 5 points from RR in each match and we couldn't use him in heat 15. So with a big three and two low average second strings it would be pointless. Its not just the Individual meetings but losing riders to the thursday meetings in Sweden is a recipe for another season of disasters.

Rye House V Edinburgh August 8 2015
westhamboy66 replied to a topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Yes most riders do go under but at least there is no eighteen inch thick concrete wall and armco barrier to hit unlike many tracks, I still believe that at Rye House the catch fencing was safer. Yes it is still a building site and despite comments to the contrary from Len it remains a building site with no viewing possible on any of the bends or most of the back straight. As far as progress with this in the winter is concerned it's the winter weather that is always used as an excuse for a lack of building progress so i wouldn't hold my breath. -
Sometimes i wonder why i bother with the Forum. Sometimes i wonder why i bother responding to a thread like this. I do about 60 meetings a year these days and i have a season ticket for my Football Club. Thats simply what i chose to do. No dedication involved indeed i have never been dedicated to anything other than the important stuff that is my Family. Whether or not someone continually moans on the forum or comes up with progressive thinking that will improve our great sport is irrelevant as we are all supporters of Speedway. Who is the greatest fan? The one's that put their hands in their pockets and pay their hard earned cash to watch the sport we all love. Sadly their are a fair few who don't contribute financially to support our sport and they always seem to be the first to ridicule what others say and think. Now if the site was moderated, and i have not seen any reason to believe it is, then this thread would be closed so that we can have a chat about the real things going on in the sport.

Lewis Kerr Out Of Hospital

Brilliant news for Lewis, his Family, Friends and Fans. So pleased for all concerned and my wished to Lewis for a speedy and full recovery -
Completely mystified how anyone can side with Hancock this time. If you judge the pair on the whole incident then Pedersen was excluded quite rightly from the race. Hancock's assault was probably as bad as the televised Punch from Dugard many years ago at Eastbourne. As the current World Champion he he's hardly covered himself in glory either in his actions or his sad comments afterwards. Greg needs to consider himself very luck not only with the fine and ban but more that he could have easily broken Pedersens neck in the assault. Anyone who has ever worn a crash helmet would know what i mean when i say how unstable you head becomes. Had he carried out this assault in GB he could have easily found himself in a cell for the night

Rye House V Edinburgh August 8 2015
westhamboy66 replied to a topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Congratulations but my point exactly why buy into something when you won't be around to play with your new toy, at least when Ronnie took over at Rye he put his heart and soul into it, ok it never worked out but you couldn't fault his effort. -
Rye House Raiders V Mildenhall... 9th August 3pm
westhamboy66 replied to Shadders's topic in National League Speedway
And surely far more entertaining than the dross served up last night by the Rockets I've been a regular at Mildenhall this season and have left there happy with what has been served up and i think that Kevin Jolly has done wonders in what must be difficult times at West Row Good to see Dan Halsey back. Can see nothing but a home win but pretty warm and sunny out there lets hope the track is ok -
Rye House V Edinburgh August 8 2015

Too many riders missing too many meetings. NBJ missing again next friday. R/R five points whats the point against the decent teams like Edinburgh, Glasgow etc. Surprised we won any races and Craig Cook's attitude to racing was a good example of what Edinburgh do right and we don't. Even when he lined up at 15 metres it was obvious he would win. As for Warren Scott does he actually exist? Personally i couldn't care less what he thinks as his company is taking money off me each week and shortchanging me with a pretty pathetic team at the moment and despite all the early promises a dump of a stadium The Raiders matches are a much more interesting day out and for me the way forward as the PL becomes more and more like its big brother the EL. Teams full of Guests, R/R and Juniors is not why i have been such a starch supporter of all that was PL. -
Well assuming there would be no dodgy Lakeside agreement for Edward Kennett he would be my top of the list for next year. Kasper is such a great prospect and has improved dramatically since his first season with us he would be another added to my team. I think we have gone far too far with employing foreign (european) riders this year due to their unavailability and would seriously look at NBJ and his obligations away from Rye next year. He would potentially be number one and missing meetings as he has done this season is not on. Robin has been far to inconsistent to gain a place fro next year and Anders just doesn't seem to be the same rider as he was prior to his back injury. I may be alone but i think Danny is worth a punt at reserve. Opposite to Kasper he looks like he can gate and just needs a season to get more experience of our tracks. Luke has come back well from his spell out but i doubt i would retain him for next year. I think Len has really messed up with his attitude towards Australians. Year on year another batch come through, are top quality and above all are reliable. Just because he found the one that was a problem doesn't mean all should be tarred with the same brush. He needs to get his licence to employ back up to scratch and be able able to bring in the right Aussie. As for the EL links i hope they are wrong. I wouldn't be so dismissive of the rumours but maybe a little clue that we will be PL again came in the "maybe next year comment" aimed at Robert Lambert. No way would he be available at EL level as he will be back at Lynn but another season with Peterborough may well be in doubt

Rye House V Newcastle... 1st August 7pm
westhamboy66 replied to Shadders's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Bit sad to see that Chris Neath's name will no longer be in the programme. Was a dark day for Rye House when Chris was so badly injured at Ipswich and the club has yet to recover from his absence. Robert Lambert showed that at 17 he is far too good for the Premier League and his showing last night was brilliant. To complete the Edward Kennett farce last night anyone look at the side Lakeside tracked last night? The "Lakeside" team contained Chris Harris Hans Anderson Max Fricke and Richard Hall all guesting for Absent Lakeside riders. How ironic that one of the three remaining team that actually rode for Lakeside was Edward Kennett who really should have been riding for us last night. The Premier League is still the best option and i sincerely hope that we stay far away from the Elite joke league next year. -
Leicester V Lakeside Sat 1st August
westhamboy66 replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Yes while that debacle was going on we at Rye House were sitting there watching Robert Lambert of Peterborough go through the card unbeaten for the Rockets while our own asset Edward Kennett who is on loan to Lakeside was riding at Leicester. The Elite League has been a joke for ages but sadly it is now affecting Premier League as well. Joke all round. -
Rye House V Newcastle... 1st August 7pm
westhamboy66 replied to Shadders's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Last time i looked it was one season to have an experienced Promoter along side a new one. A percentage ??? so that is what 1 or 99 ? No sorry i have been a staunch supporter of Both Rye and silver for a very long time but in my opinion and i am not alone enough is enough. I don't like being lied to by someone who is happily taking my money each week. His recent press statement totally contradicts what he said earlier in the season about Kennett. His comments regarding improvements to the stadium being noticeable by the summer is also untrue. I am not in the know as that doesn't interest me but what i do know is his time is up and if he is still around next year then i doubt i will be, My love for Speedway is greater than my love of all that is Rye House. -
Rye House V Newcastle... 1st August 7pm
westhamboy66 replied to Shadders's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Whether on not suitable guests are used is the thin end of the wedge. This Gentleman's agreement was ( we were told) that Edward would not miss this meeting or was that a smokescreen to appease the fans. To be quite honest ii don't feel we deserve a guest to cover. Never known a situation like it and given that Edward has been the one saving grace who we should expect to be available every week is more of a joke. Pathetic and goes against the grain in the PL. Fans shafted once again and i am very close to saying enough is enough and after 39 years as a Rye Fan that says it all Hopefully there won't be a next season with Len at the helm, his is after all no longer owner and is only Co Promoter now You don't have to either read or add your thoughts do you? Whether or not Lambert is a decent guest is irrelevant . -
The new owner? What the same bloke who had promised Stadiums improvements. Place is a dump far worse than it has been no viewing from 2nd bend, half the back straight and 3rd and 4th bends. Two man team at the moment i feel for Edward Kennett

Well done Berwick especially Jorgensen and Doolan. Why did it take eight heats for Rye to wake up. As expected not much from the reserves but it took until the track work interval for us to do anything. Of course the lady in the box did her utmost to ruin the recovery attempt, 3 starts on the trot we had a five one only for a stoppage for an unsatisfactory start but can anyone explain why when a rider jumps at the start as Jorgensen did but then messes it up and his opponents are on a 5-1 the race is stopped and he is warned. surely if his opponents gain an advantage why stop it. Not sour grapes Berwick deserved a win and would have got it anyway. If Lykke is back it might give us a very small chance and who knows Bandits and the Rockets are probably the two most unpredictable teams in the league.
-
Reckon 16 points needed today but too difficult to predict any score with the Berwick side and the the reserve spots for Rye. Fingers crossed for the weather but big points from the Rye top four might just see off berwick. If a fit Kasper lines up in the second leg then we may be ok. With Ipswich winning a few away in the league now this seems our only chance to keep interest going in any of the competitions.

Is It Time To Re-introduce Tape Touching?
westhamboy66 replied to IainB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Lets go back to tape touching but if not lets introduce a one minute warning in the case of unsatisfactory starts where no rider has fallen. The constant returning to the pits for refuelling clutch cooling etc is now the most boring thing about speedway. -
What was the story with Luke Bowen. Yes he asked to take a break but comments from him seem to suggest he was upset that he had been replaced. Had he been discarded by the Promotion who now go back to him because Greenwood didn't work out and an adequate replacement was to be found I find the whole thing a mess but wish Luke a happy return Thought Kyle Hughes might have been more competitive than was at Ipswich just shows the Gulf between NL and PL as he has been doing ok lately for the raiders With Maassen at Ipswich he seemed to hit the white line at the start of the bend and carry too much speed so drifted out to the fence each time. After a nervous start he did improve and did lead a race for almost a lap. not great i know but look at the massive improvement from Kasper.

Be nice if we gave Maassen a few meeting before we start to slag him off proved he can gate at Ipswich lets see what he does when he gets used to it here. Fair enough to have a pop at the promotion but lay off the kid eh?

Ipswich Witches Vs Rye House Rockets Thurs 9th July
westhamboy66 replied to Pob's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well done Edward that performance silenced the knockers about his ability to be a real No1. To beat Danny King on his own track not easy Average performance from NBJ and four NL standard riders gave us what we expected. Shows how poor Ipswich really are. With Aspgren, Mellgren and Lykke we would have walked. Awful racing. As for Maassen he can gate but had no idea how to ride the track, he's not the answer at reserve but i doubt that he is as bad as being made out on here. Kyle Hughes showed that he is a million miles from PL standard as did Dan Greenwood, not their fault though. Shame that the ludicrous rules robbed us of watching Bradley Wilson Dean.
