Close 6 points either way. As Shads says Kennett very much the key. Gate as we did early on at Lynn and we have every chance -
Kings Lynn V Rye House 24/5/17
westhamboy66 replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Who knows what team will turn up. Kennett 5 points would be about right for his away form, Harris anywhere from 5 to 12 depending on how he gates. 8 from Nicholls 5 or 6 each from Robbo and Wells. 6 from the reserves.Your probably right maybe up to 38 if a decent tactical ride was taken. But can the likes of Holder be as bad again as he was around Rye. Anything more would be a massive surprise but I fear the worst and look to our visit to Leicester for our first real go at an away point. Can anyone tell me what we do with the rain off tickets? Queue again or go straight to the turnstyles? -
Couple of things. The weather report if believed would have been wet enough to call the meeting off thus no water had been put down which obviously affected the track. So no passing at all? better wipe a few points off of Harris, Kennett Lawson Kerr etc who never passed at all. When you have visited every track in the Country then compare Rye House to others. Try watching a bit of live racing rather than you tube its actually different you know

I disagree. The addition of Wells has plugged the only real gap in the side. Pretty much a similar meeting to Rye's loss at Wolves where we were affected by Kennett's illness and missing Branford. I doubt we would have got within ten points of Wolves with a full and fit side much in the same way i doubt Leicester would have got near a match point today. The choice of Richard Hall was as good a choice as Clegg was for us at Wolves but Bjerre today was awful and Danny King's lack of form especially where he rides the track well is alarming Four league wins out of four i take heart from that.

Tomasz Gollob Seriously Injured In Mx Accident
westhamboy66 replied to Ghostwalker's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Can't understand all the non topic conversations going on. It's about Goolb, his injuries his progress and best wishes. You want to talk about the BSPA and how they do/don't report stuff start a new thread eh? -

Yes happy retirement. A good servant to British speedway and a damn good rider at his peak. Sad to see him struggling so badly at Rye -
Wolves V Rye House - 24th April 17
westhamboy66 replied to Beowulf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well its a few years since i was up there i used to drive up fairly regular when Sam Ermolenko, Ronnie Correy and the Karlsson brothers were there. The stadium itself has everything I want. Easy to park hour and half before the start, something to eat in the grandstand before the meeting and decent viewing but the crowd was much thinner than i remember The one problem i had was that my favourite viewing area is back straight or the exit of bend two. Shame that at places like Wolves Sheffield and indeed Rye House until this season have those areas closed. But I thought the racing despite the score was pretty good, the meeting was well run as have been all the meetings i have seen this season (apart from Kent). so as an experience i would give it 8/10 glad i made the trip. I agree I was a bit surprised how poor he was, As a migraine sufferer i know being in a car / van would have made it 10 times worse but given that this season his racing has been cut by more than 50% i can understand why he rode. You don't go from averaging 10+ to scoring a very bad zero (and he was shockingly bad). To be honest i am happy that there was a pretty good reason why he rode so badly and fully expect him to be back on form on bank Holiday monday. -
Wolves V Rye House - 24th April 17
westhamboy66 replied to Beowulf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
After an ok start to the season we really came down to earth with a bump. Completely outclassed by wolves who i'm sure would love to race us every week. 13 points from the heat leaders and the worst display from a number one i have ever seen. Edward Kennett cut a sad figure wobbling around nowhere near the third place rider in any of his four races. Chris Harris looked like he left his bikes in Poland on Sunday and bought a donkey home to ride tonight. Ok so he rarely makes the gate but he was completely lacking in any sort of pace. Scott had one decent ride and that was about it. Stuart Robson head and shoulders above his team mates and when he came out to race was about the only time i smiled on really cold night. Great Journey home with a 50 MPH restriction for most of the M1 and just to round it off was a junction 29 closure on the M25. Well done to Wolves though you can only beat what is in front of you. -

Was looking forward to this always enjoy my visits to Monmore but the weather looks a bit depressing and having already wasted time and money for the rain off at Lynn on Good Friday I'm not sure I'll risk it. On the face of it it should be reasonably close and I think we would be disappointed to leave without a point. Rory Schlein coming in may just be the difference but will be interesting to see how Ricky Wells goes after a pretty encouraging start for Rye last night against Poole -
Crowds at the First three meeting at Rye have been exceptional, just like the late seventies where we were dominant. Good Friday meeting at Lakeside where the crowd was much larger that many Elite league matches last year and a very healthy crowd Easter Monday for the visit of Lakeside to Kent. Also another good looking crowd for the rain off KL v RH. Rye seem to be boosted by Lakeside dropping down, many Hammers supporters dotted around the place.

Whos (un)impressed You In 2017?
westhamboy66 replied to SCB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Feel for Dave Watt but sadly showing no signs of improvement. On the plus side Kyle Howarth was outstanding at Rye House. Alfie Bowtell looks a much better prospect since leaving Rye House Surprise packet has been Ellis Perks and well worth watching has been Scott Nicholls team riding with Ellis Perks -
It's not a rant AJ its all very true. By my watch heat 5 started at 3.50 PM so by the time that race finished it was an average of ten minutes per race so nine minutes of twidling my thumbs which is a massive reason fewer and fewer tolerate speedway these days. Two hour plus meetings or five hour double headers became the norm at my track Rye House during Len's last few seasons there. Just a turn off for me as is the dusty rather than dirt surface that produces no quality racing just as was the case at Rye. The first three meetings this season have been run very smoothly at Rye and they seem to have got the message that two hour plus meetings are a bore especially when the racing is poor. If tracks need to have a parade then fine have it 15 minutes before the advertised start time as Lakeside do.

Rye House V King's Lynn 15/04/17

Just think the RR for Adam Ellis makes Swindon much stronger. Wolves two dodgy reserves doesn't help them but Kings Lynn look to have a best side for me but only if Holder is taking it seriously -

If Watt goes Schlien has to be much better value than NBJ (financially for BMR) Plus he is proven at this level and based here. -
Rye House V King's Lynn 15/04/17
westhamboy66 replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
When we had a 1-7 that was untouchable at Rye 1977-80 thats what the crowds were like most weeks but when the rivals like Newcastle, Mildenhall Eastbourne etc there were far more in, check the old photos if you don't believe it. Great meeting for Edward, Perks is a real surprise for me how well he has done and Nicholls team riding with Perks again was superb. Porsing shone for Lynn but perhaps we see the wisdom of Matt Ford in not including Holder on 12.53 as he will be lucky to average over 8.5 shocking display from a former world champion in a very watered down league. Obviously you haven't seen Kennett around Rye before. On his day when he is really on it he is a match for anyone from any gate. Not sure which of Lynn's riders you were embarrassed about -
Know exactly where you are coming from. I went to school on the forecourt of West Ham as an eleven year old in 66 watching Bobby More training with the like of Hurst Peters Brooking Bonds etc through my Maths class window. My dad first took me as a three year old, i continued it with my Boy at a similar age. Season ticket holder for thirty odd years i last saw football live as a season ticket holder in the last Upton Park season. I was dead set against the move to Stratford, my boy still goes and reckons its awful. I'll never go back and as Shads says asrenal died when they left the great ground that was Highbury west ham too died last may as far as i am concerned. As for Swindon tonight i love the place for no other reason that 1970 was first time i ever went to Speedway outside of London following West Ham and spent a miserable 4 hrs return journey on the coach. Good track to watch from though. Just think that Doyle and Morris will score enough to put the tie beyond us. Hope i'm wrong but i can see three defeats in three nights coming up.

Rye House V Wolverhampton Sat 1st April
westhamboy66 replied to Dave Stummings's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Can't think of anything negative to say tonight. Great crowd that resembled Sunday afternoons in the late seventies, the facilities for watching racing were far better than I expected and it was great to see the back straight fully open along with bends 1and 2. On the team front as expected Kennett Nicholls and Harris all did well as did the reserves with Perks looking far better than I thought. How well we do will revolve around Robson and Watt with Davey looking poor in his first two but then picking up well as the meeting went on. All in all a big success for the promotion and that's something I never thought I would be saying -

Brilliant career and a nice bloke too Followed his career closely especially at Arena and Ipswich. was really pleased he did a season with us at Rye. Long and happy retirement Liegh -
Cradley Heath...I know its opinions but West Ham and their exploits with crowds that rivalled Wembleys leave Cradley a million miles behind and thats taking into account their great teams and World Champions, Wimbledon too dwarf Cradley and even Coventry.

Krsko 2017 - Round 1
westhamboy66 replied to kraftwerk's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I drive to this meeting and stop in Germany then base ourselves in Bled. Pretty nice place and the GP nice and relaxed -
Last time i saw Stan was at a grass track meeting two years ago (Southend Donut). He was with Terry Stone who was racing that day. Terry is on Facebook and would surely answer your question. https://www.flickr.com/photos/harryward/14818694761/in/album-72157646148946842/ Picture of Stan at the meeting Failing that then pretty sure he attends Speedway celebration at Paradise Wildlife Park coming up on 26th Feb I think. The like of Colin Pratt, Ted Eade attend too and between them i'm sure they could help.

Personally i think it ridiculous to expect people to pay £13 for NL speedway. I do watch a lot of NL stuff at Kent, Mildenhall, Eastbourne and Rye, I will miss the NL racing as it was a good filler for non PL days at Hoddesdon and it is a far better product than many who don't watch it assume but it does fall into a price category that shouldn't be near £13. Of course there will be another cost of a programme where if i were running at this level i would opt for a race card only which would reduce the costs. I wish them luck and hope they succeed but to do so they must have a top quality side but it looks a bit top heavy to me otherwise the fans won't go near the place

The voice of Speedway and of course Darts. No one comes close to his Speedway commentary Proper Speedway Promoter and worked the local rivalry between West Ham and Len Silver's Hackney so well Great memories from his times at West Ham in the sixties RIP Mr Lanning
