Just got back.
Trip started off great meeting and chatting with the Great Barry Briggs who was on his own in the departure lounge at stanstead.
Nice to see Jason almost back to his best but the rider of the night for me was Kenneth Bjerre. Has to be said that Chris Harris has been truly awful in the GP's this year and at Parken he just didn't seem competitive
As a Rye supporter I am very disapointed that Tai won't be there but it seems to me that speedway once again shoots itself in the foot for two reasons.
1. The hottest property in British speedway isn't riding and for what reason? Tai Woffindens presence at this meeting was being looked forward to by most supporters I would think. To not have him riding will cost the BSPA a good deal of supporters.
2. Not to have Kings Lynn represented when they would clearly be one of the favourites is ridiculous.
I'm sure it will be a good meeting because of the great venue but it would have been a hell of a lot better with Woffinden / KL pairing included.
Yes kerry did two seasons at Rye. Hampered by a hand injury but had a nice exciting style and I for one was sorry that he didn't do more seasons here. Kerry Gray, Glen Baxter and Trevor O'brien three entertaining Aussies that graced hoddesdon
Done this meeting five times now and always use easyjet no probs. Yes you get what you pay for but it's only a two hour flight then a bus from the airport to the nearest tube station 20 min ride
Tony a quick question
In No 60 you said get the issue 61 to read the Varg Olle part 2 article. As it was a great read I do hope you will follow up with the second part in one of the other mags you produce
Secondly and i reckon this may have been asked before but have you ever considered a Garry Middleton article or has he vanished. Although a member of the orrible awks as a west ham boy i had to admire him and often wondered what happened to him
good luck with the new mag
Harry
You can't say inyour Report that Chris Harris won in front of 50000 if the official attendance was only 41000. Getting a bit fed up with BSI and their claims for attendances. There seems little progress in getting towards the 50000 figure perhaps the cheaper seats need to be lowered in price to attract the passing trade?
The journo's email is i.speck@dailymail.co.uk If you like what he wrote tell HIM.
As far as damage done by the mail this could be said of any newspaper depending on your points of view. For me it's great to see as much coverage given by the mail and the express.
Marvyn Cox
Jack Millen in the NL because he was simply the best entertainer I have ever seen on a track (though not always on his bike)
Kelvin Mullarkey the slowest rider ever to constantly win races
Kerry Gray
Andrew Silver
