  1. Agree with all you have said Ben. I think the season goes out with a whimper rather than a bang. Has gone downhill since the twelve rider format was introduced. Plenty of decent riders around looking for a final payday. I go for speedway and not fireworks so again a disapointing end to a frustratingly disapointing season irrespective of the result against Workington.
  2. For the size of the crowd it was a shame that this meeting was such a let down. Sadly for some years now i don't enjoy the racing. The only racing line seemed to be two inches from the fence Good effort from Edward and Ben Baker looked good til the engine failure. Yes Tai did look fast when in front but nothing from him when he wasn't. You can say loads of stuff like no airhorns etc but unless the racing is up to scratch the atmosphere will be absent Agree with the comments about the announcing. I wasn't too impressed when he spoke about the witches when he should have said GB. had anyone told him Ipswich weren't riding? I'd love to see more of these sort of meetings instead of the meaningless bore's but they do need to be on a track where passing is threatened
  3. No It's not a case of not liking it. More a case of Three in Poland Two in Sweden possibly two in Denmark is a joke. Substitute One of the polish meetings and one of the swedish meetings and have them in Australasia out of our season and I would be very happy. Shame that its unlikely to have the support of the fans there. But given that it could expand to say sixteen with the majority during the British season it will have a massive negative effect on our top league. I want to be able to watch top class riders each week and not the sort of stuff that is served up the majority of tme in Australia and new Zealand i.e Solo's being the side attraction to other forms of motorsport
  4. For the work he continues to do both with stadium and the young riders on the track this is well deserved. With GB straight to the final it all bodes well for a very successful meeting. Lets hope we can have a winning team as well
  5. Surely 14-15 GP's is far too many Three GP's in Poland is ridiculous. Bellamy hinted that unless Cardiff sold out (and pigs might fly) It is doubtful that they would entertain another in Britain. I think they are missing a trick with the likes of Peterborough and Coventry both likely to sell out and yes it could be marketed as an English GP. I thought Vojens was a massive success. I hope they continue with that one as I enjoyed the weekend with a trip to a Danish league meeting as well
  6. Always enjoy my visits to Mildenhall and this looks to be a decent finale
  7. Actually there were far more locals there than i thought there would be. I think there was more high class racing than at Cardiff. As for the local area with the choice to spend time in Verona or Venice it makes me wonder where I would like to spend a weekend there or watching the antics of a load of p'heads in Wales come July 10th
  8. From where I was sitting on the second bend this was a half decent meeting. Far better than what i saw served up at Vojens Cardiff and Copenhagen. A decent venue, no agravation, no drunks, no over zealous security people. A decent day all round. Given the choice of a day in the Udine area or Cardiff then no prizes...I wouldn't be in Wales
  9. I went to Grindsted prior to Vojens this year and have to say I was very impressed with the place. Don't know what the black stuff is that they use for the track but it certainly did its job soaking up loads of rain. One thing though the five man teams was poor. Too much of the same riders and a heat two crash saw a cople of riders being ruled out which meant four man teams and races with only three riders which is never good. That would have been a very long walk
  10. You joke about the cinders....but went to Grindsted v Vojens last night and it had been raining a lot. Thought the meeting would be in doubt.just before the meeting and during there was quite heavy rain. But the track had dirt that was completely black soaked up the rain and gave the riders no problems. It didn't even trouble the following riders as it seem too heavy to be thrown high. Tremendous surface no wonder they seem to get their meetings on and we can't
  11. Thanks for the replies mine took about eight days in the end. I thought the delivery was a little pricey especially as we were able to pick up our tickets at the venue last year in Lonigo
  12. Thanks Sandie...Been waiting about a week now...will give it a few more days then
  13. Anyone tell me how long the tickets took to arrive please Thanks in advance
  14. I thought Cardiff was about speedway and a great atmosphere. If you need to have a drink to enjoy it then I suggest you have a problem that requires treatment
  15. Football allow the drink at the bars but you cant take the drink to your seats....seems sensible....Turn up drunk at Football they won't let you in....sensible. The damage is done with five hours in the Pub beforehand. We also had similar experiences today and every year when we go to Copenhagen and Prague and sadly it seems the easy way out is to grin and bear it. Bloody annoying though
  16. Any idea where we can pick or tickets up from BSI at Parken we have these in place of the Gelsenkirken tickets Reason being we may be pushed for time as we don't arrive til sat and they were suggesting picking them up on friday
  17. If you insist on using old sayings at least have the common sense in getting the comma in the right place.
  18. How about a balanced view for a change. The record is worn out On Friday morning I will set out to see the Rockets on the road on the Northern tour. The weather looks crap and that i can't blame on the promoters. However with riders out injured do I know who will be in the Rye team not a bleeding clue. Check out the respective websites of the clubs. Rye welcome Scunthorpe to Hoddesdon without any mention of who the guests will be on the northern tour. I am probably going to see my team hammered three times in three days, my car will have 1200 more miles on the clock and I will have spent around £300 on the sport I love. Yet once again I am castaged by the defender of the BSPA. I say to you Bryn Get Real or you won't have a sport to watch and the sooner your mates in high places realise that the better for all concerned.
  19. Because there are no "Promoters" left in Speedway? Soon their will be no fans either!
  20. No I doubt you are the only one to sympathise with Pedersen. But there won't be many on here that defend him. It's quite clear that those in authourity don't want to see him equal Ivan's three in a row. And I think his tantrum was justified. A ban for the ref would be more like it or one for Olsen for once again preparing a poor track for the world's best to race on. Funny how the tantrum by everybody's Mr nice guy Greg Hancock has been swept under the carpet. Telling the camera man to go away...what was wrong Greg? No one wanted to interview you about Monster drinks or were you just upset that you have been upstaged by the Red bull sponsorship for mr Crump Truth of the matter Pedersen probably wanted a couple of weeks off, he can afford it and he can have time away from speedway getting the stench of another Pole's awful decision out of his nose. Then reappear in Copehagen fresh and ready for a win, referees intervention apart.
  21. Bert I fully appreciate what you say but my income, the same as most people is limited. I do on average 60 meetings per year, often more, which is around £900.00 in entrance fees alone more than the cost of a seat for the season at my beloved West Ham Football Club. As such I have to be more prudent with regard to spending money at other times. As a Scot I am sure you appreciate this. I haven't been to the Museum because I can't justify the cost to see something (The Wildlife Park) in which I have no interest. The point I have tried to make is that if the cost to enter the museum is prohibitive because it is viewed by the proprieter as part of the Wildlife Park then I'll not go. This doesn't show bad feeling against Mr Sampson but simply if i want to view the Museum it should be possible to do so as a stand alone. It should also be remembered that without the donations from people like me the Wildlife park wouldn't have an added attraction. This is me just trying to illustrate that there are two view points as in every argument. The Committee has made their decision and I fully understand that however I still feel very sad that with the date coming up soon High Beech will remain silent as far as speedway bikes are concerned. I wish the Museum nothing but success and all power to the Committee for the time and hard work that is surely involved. But I still feel that High Beech deserves more otherwise it will dispaear from the Calender once and for all which will be very sad. All The best Harry Ward
  22. Got the same letter to collect mine from Parken. To be fair to them when this hapenned before at Ullevi I got top seats by the starting gate trackside which were very good seats (At Cardiff) I do agree though that the seat tickets could have been sent out as I will be a bit rushed arriving in Copenhagen early afternoon could
  23. If, for the various reasons given, the High Beech venue is not capable of holding the event in 2009 then how does is it become viable in 2010. Utter nonsense. As previously described the annual commemerative meeting of fans at High Beech cannot be beaten. Its there because thats where it all started thats the whole point. The stallholders seem to operate under worse conditions at Cardiff so this is a red herring. Personally I have never been a supporter of the Museum as after the way the funds were raised by the fans then those same fans were then expected to pay for entrance to a park that most had no interest in. I felt for Linda and George as to me their efforts were tarnished by what has become a venture for financial gain which surely was never the original intention
  24. Agree with Boggle I have sat on the back straight and at either end but the upper tier back straight opposie starting gate was really good
  25. So once again British speedway and it's fans suffer due to the whims of BSI/IMG. Coventry and Eastbourne both having to rearrange meetings to accommodate the GP's Well sour grapes it maybe but i also hope it's rained off and BSI/IMG take another big loss
