  1. Absolute drivel Decent track Decent facilities Nice to be able to watch speedway from any vantage point rather than one straight ala Wolverhampton Bele Vue etc As for a venue that will offer Team GB an easier passage ...There aint one. Plus historically progressing via the race off offers a better chance of success. Fair Play to Buster to get the place more attractive to hold this sort of event and i say this as a Rye Supporter who has no connection to Kings Lynn. There are other tracks that I would rather watch this meeting at but sadly neither Wolverhampton or poole come anywhere close
  2. John Cook Bobby Ott Tony Clarke Garry Hay John Langfield Dave Lanning
  3. Having been there when the place is full for an FA Cup Final and The playoffs there is no way there was anywhere near 40000 there. I reckon the Times is bang on with 32000. Apart from Gollob the "passing" was due to rider errors and always with one wheel over the white line. Pretty poor and not sure what Rickardsson, Adams and Ermolenko were getting so excited about. If the crowds continue to shrink at their current rates we'll be back at Brandon or Peterborough.
  4. What an idiot, Front row tickets pathetic comments. Had you been standing in front of me you would have done it for one race only. I pay money in an all seater stadium to do just that. If you must act like an idiot buy a back row ticket and thus not ruin anyone else's day
  5. What do you mean NOW. Where have you been for the last five years? Head buried in sand until it affects your club? Hopefully we'll (Cobras) now go on to win the NL whatever way we can. Then all three leagues will have Champions that are in the same boat just to keep the leagues in equilibrium.
  6. Developing future riders needs to be done probably from ten years old. Trying to do something with a seventeen year old is too late. There are only a handful of promoters who give any kids a chance and are happier to bring over a foreigner mainly due to pressure from the fans of those clubs.
  7. Glad to see you had a good time Bertie. Glad to see you were impressed (another thread) with the British riders efforts at singing, not to mention their riding Not sure about the need to insult Servicemen and women that serve the country and give potentially give their lives for people like you Take a tip and go and watch snooker or bowls next year if you hated it all so much
  8. Quite right Patriotism isn't measured by how well you sing a song. Outdated boring rubbish song anyway. As far as how they performed I thought had it been more of a racetrack Nicholls and Harris would have done better. Tai was encouraging as even when he is last he's in touch all the time and when he gates he tends to win. No I don't think they should be bashed
  9. I always buy in advance but did whince at the cost of delivery for the tickets. I suppose it's whatever you are comfortable with but with the free seating arrangements (sorry i mean sit where you like no numbers) we got there about an hour and a half before the start. Not sure if you are driving but the stadium is visible from the motorway...well its right next to the motorway actually. Again not sure of how much time you have but don't forget that within a couple of hours drive of Terenzano is Venice Verona Lake garda and the beach all situated in magnificent country side. Word of warning take your comets jacket as it got a bit nippy late on! Do this GP and I'm sure you will be glad you did
  10. Have to say that this was my favourite GP last year.We stayed in Verona which was about 2 hours from the stadium. A great place to visit for the day. We drove to Italy via Austria and made a week of it. Loved the Italian's laid back attitude to putting the event on and was great to watch it without any drunks falling over which has become the norm in Denmark. Civilized speedway and I am sure you will enjoy it. We are driving again and stay in the Lake Garda area Cant remember the exact price but tickets easily available at the Arena for unreserved seating that is of a temporary nature. Nothing at all in the local town of Terenzano but Udine is quite big and i suppose 20 mins away
  11. Agree 100%. Jordan frampton for examle. Three wins, what more could he be expected to do. Tai of whom I am a fan didn't do it and just because of that is no reason to rerun the thing.
  12. Of course you are correct. Rye offers a car park free of charge street parking and a train station that runs directly to London within a 100 yard walk. Where would you suggest? Birmingham? Belle Vue? Workington? Berwick? Glasgow? Edinburgh? Newcastle? Newport? Redcar? need I go on? All of those quoted are tracks with infrastructure either on par or worse than Rye. This means you believe that it should of gone to Coventry Peterboro etc those tracks in other words that get a fair share of big meetings. Dare I suggest that one of the reasons that this meeting will be so popular is that people want to see the likes of crump Pedersen etc around Rye. I'm sure that there will be many people going to rye for the first time who enjoy the prospect. If it's a delayed start that concerns you then perhaps Speedway is the wrong sport for you. delays happen all the time ask Jon Cook at Lakeside for instance
  13. I assume you mean Elite League riders and not racing as I doubt The Elite League Standard of racing is better than that seen in the Premier League. And yes I do watch both regularly. I doubt he'll be too bothered about the advice about his crowd levels considering he's the most experienced promoter around From the comments concerning Sitera i doubt you have watched Speedway away from Poole.
  14. Yes and well done Len no exra charge for sitting on those former 'stow seats unlike some tracks who chose to charge extra only to see those same seats remaining empty due to the extra charge
  15. I think the wild cards should be cut down to a maximum of two. Fine if a top rider who has been in the top eight year after year has a bad season or injury ok but some riders (especially the British ones) could easily become career wild cards. When Our supposed No1 fails to qualify on his home track for this years GP's there is no way he should expect a wild card. I look forward to Tai Woffindens inclusion this year as he has earned his chance and will give it 100% rather than go through the motions. Qualification is the name of the game and as such the likes of Chris Holder should enter the qualification rounds rather than rely on a wildcard. Thats why as far as i am concerned fair play to Magnus Zeterstrom and I hope he does himself justice
  16. Agreed. I think they will handle a big meeting like this well. Lets hope the "new" track does the meeting proud.
  17. I don't think there is a need for a final full stop. Run off for the title ok if need be but otherwise i would prefer an old style World Championship Meeting with the points earned going to the riders GP total.
  18. Have no opinion on Magnus as a rider but he is there on merit...He won the qualifier so deserves his place. Certainly more than Chris Harris who is a wildcard only by nationality Good luck for 2010 Magnus
  19. A Track is a track. With the likes of Crump and other racers being there it will be top quality. This old chesnut about Rye is so boring, give it a rest, get the len Silver book, flick through to the back where Tai Woffinden explains why he Chose Rye to develop his career at Hoddesdon. If you have decent riders at meetings like Topinka Johnson Lyons etc who give it a go all is well. The trouble has always been when the no hopers like Sheffield turn up and can't be bothered to try. This will be a decent meeting with a packed crowd and most importantly good racing raising loadsa money
  20. Don't know about cinematic styling but some of Len Silvers gems Make it a date friday at eight The "Superama" open meetings Traxcitement And Rye House "the sunshine speedway" when we ran on Sunday afternoons
  21. Having read the "article" by Penhall about Kenny Carter he has gone down in my estimation. He proved to be a coward at White City and again shows his cowardice in commenting about the deaths of the Carters. His comments are in my opinion sick. However being realistic or some my say cynical I suppose its good publicity for TMC especially considering there is a full page advert for the book about Kenny Carter. His comments about Ivan Mauger too smacked of sour grapes as looking back on his "career" he took the easy option after two World Titles and was never a match for Ivan as a person One further comment on Backtrack / Classic why is some much of the content rehashed from one mag to the other. Personally I am considering not bothering with one of the two in future
  22. Are you referring to commentators or Announcers, you know those who waffle on get all of their speedway free then verbally assault anyone who has the cheek to mention their lack of ability?
  23. Please no more Chris Harris. He's had his chance and failed. Move on. If he's good enough then he should have had the ability to qualify on his own track. He's behind Woffinden Kennett and on the current dust bowl tracks lee Richardson
  24. Not the Promoters fault that Ben Barker didn't show. Did you miss the massive crash the Bridger had in the first heat? I think there was a little more to it than pulling out after one ride feeling jaded. Easy to knock the boy and i'm not surprised he pulled out I also thought that despite the bad crashes the track did well and was better than it has been in months. Not sure why you don't mention the efforts of Luke Bowen who was excellent until his trying too much gifted Hughes a third place in the final. Clearly the best crowd of the season and if the Promotion let themselves down anywhere it was no meeting reserves, The queues in the chip bar, sausages and fish running out at heat 6 and no boxes for the chips to be put in meaning much smaller portions in the styrofoam plates they used. The extra quid I suppose went towards the fireworks which were of no interest to me but most people stayed so they must have wanted the fireworks i suppose
