The Horns Of A Dilemma
westhamboy66 replied to Sprog1's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think the wild cards should be cut down to a maximum of two. Fine if a top rider who has been in the top eight year after year has a bad season or injury ok but some riders (especially the British ones) could easily become career wild cards. When Our supposed No1 fails to qualify on his home track for this years GP's there is no way he should expect a wild card. I look forward to Tai Woffindens inclusion this year as he has earned his chance and will give it 100% rather than go through the motions. Qualification is the name of the game and as such the likes of Chris Holder should enter the qualification rounds rather than rely on a wildcard. Thats why as far as i am concerned fair play to Magnus Zeterstrom and I hope he does himself justice -
Gp Grand Finalists
westhamboy66 replied to barrow boy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I don't think there is a need for a final full stop. Run off for the title ok if need be but otherwise i would prefer an old style World Championship Meeting with the points earned going to the riders GP total. -
Magnus Zetterstrom In Gp Series
westhamboy66 replied to a topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Have no opinion on Magnus as a rider but he is there on merit...He won the qualifier so deserves his place. Certainly more than Chris Harris who is a wildcard only by nationality Good luck for 2010 Magnus -

Having read the "article" by Penhall about Kenny Carter he has gone down in my estimation. He proved to be a coward at White City and again shows his cowardice in commenting about the deaths of the Carters. His comments are in my opinion sick. However being realistic or some my say cynical I suppose its good publicity for TMC especially considering there is a full page advert for the book about Kenny Carter. His comments about Ivan Mauger too smacked of sour grapes as looking back on his "career" he took the easy option after two World Titles and was never a match for Ivan as a person One further comment on Backtrack / Classic why is some much of the content rehashed from one mag to the other. Personally I am considering not bothering with one of the two in future

Wildcards 2010
westhamboy66 replied to WembleyLion's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Are you referring to commentators or Announcers, you know those who waffle on get all of their speedway free then verbally assault anyone who has the cheek to mention their lack of ability? -
Wildcards 2010
westhamboy66 replied to WembleyLion's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Please no more Chris Harris. He's had his chance and failed. Move on. If he's good enough then he should have had the ability to qualify on his own track. He's behind Woffinden Kennett and on the current dust bowl tracks lee Richardson -
Gp Tracks 2010
westhamboy66 replied to tarabanko's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
No It's not a case of not liking it. More a case of Three in Poland Two in Sweden possibly two in Denmark is a joke. Substitute One of the polish meetings and one of the swedish meetings and have them in Australasia out of our season and I would be very happy. Shame that its unlikely to have the support of the fans there. But given that it could expand to say sixteen with the majority during the British season it will have a massive negative effect on our top league. I want to be able to watch top class riders each week and not the sort of stuff that is served up the majority of tme in Australia and new Zealand i.e Solo's being the side attraction to other forms of motorsport -
2010 World Under21s Team Cup
westhamboy66 replied to Fozzie4388's topic in International World of Speedway
For the work he continues to do both with stadium and the young riders on the track this is well deserved. With GB straight to the final it all bodes well for a very successful meeting. Lets hope we can have a winning team as well -

Surely 14-15 GP's is far too many Three GP's in Poland is ridiculous. Bellamy hinted that unless Cardiff sold out (and pigs might fly) It is doubtful that they would entertain another in Britain. I think they are missing a trick with the likes of Peterborough and Coventry both likely to sell out and yes it could be marketed as an English GP. I thought Vojens was a massive success. I hope they continue with that one as I enjoyed the weekend with a trip to a Danish league meeting as well -
Actually there were far more locals there than i thought there would be. I think there was more high class racing than at Cardiff. As for the local area with the choice to spend time in Verona or Venice it makes me wonder where I would like to spend a weekend there or watching the antics of a load of p'heads in Wales come July 10th
-
From where I was sitting on the second bend this was a half decent meeting. Far better than what i saw served up at Vojens Cardiff and Copenhagen. A decent venue, no agravation, no drunks, no over zealous security people. A decent day all round. Given the choice of a day in the Udine area or Cardiff then no prizes...I wouldn't be in Wales

I went to Grindsted prior to Vojens this year and have to say I was very impressed with the place. Don't know what the black stuff is that they use for the track but it certainly did its job soaking up loads of rain. One thing though the five man teams was poor. Too much of the same riders and a heat two crash saw a cople of riders being ruled out which meant four man teams and races with only three riders which is never good. That would have been a very long walk

Nordic Gp, Vojens 29-08-2009
westhamboy66 replied to Peter S.'s topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
You joke about the cinders....but went to Grindsted v Vojens last night and it had been raining a lot. Thought the meeting would be in doubt.just before the meeting and during there was quite heavy rain. But the track had dirt that was completely black soaked up the rain and gave the riders no problems. It didn't even trouble the following riders as it seem too heavy to be thrown high. Tremendous surface no wonder they seem to get their meetings on and we can't -
Thanks for the replies mine took about eight days in the end. I thought the delivery was a little pricey especially as we were able to pick up our tickets at the venue last year in Lonigo

Thanks Sandie...Been waiting about a week now...will give it a few more days then

Anyone tell me how long the tickets took to arrive please Thanks in advance

Alcohol At Cardiff
westhamboy66 replied to loyal royal's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I thought Cardiff was about speedway and a great atmosphere. If you need to have a drink to enjoy it then I suggest you have a problem that requires treatment -
Alcohol At Cardiff
westhamboy66 replied to loyal royal's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Football allow the drink at the bars but you cant take the drink to your seats....seems sensible....Turn up drunk at Football they won't let you in....sensible. The damage is done with five hours in the Pub beforehand. We also had similar experiences today and every year when we go to Copenhagen and Prague and sadly it seems the easy way out is to grin and bear it. Bloody annoying though -

Pedersen Breaks Finger Having Tantrum
westhamboy66 replied to Rob B's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
No I doubt you are the only one to sympathise with Pedersen. But there won't be many on here that defend him. It's quite clear that those in authourity don't want to see him equal Ivan's three in a row. And I think his tantrum was justified. A ban for the ref would be more like it or one for Olsen for once again preparing a poor track for the world's best to race on. Funny how the tantrum by everybody's Mr nice guy Greg Hancock has been swept under the carpet. Telling the camera man to go away...what was wrong Greg? No one wanted to interview you about Monster drinks or were you just upset that you have been upstaged by the Red bull sponsorship for mr Crump Truth of the matter Pedersen probably wanted a couple of weeks off, he can afford it and he can have time away from speedway getting the stench of another Pole's awful decision out of his nose. Then reappear in Copehagen fresh and ready for a win, referees intervention apart. -
Bert I fully appreciate what you say but my income, the same as most people is limited. I do on average 60 meetings per year, often more, which is around £900.00 in entrance fees alone more than the cost of a seat for the season at my beloved West Ham Football Club. As such I have to be more prudent with regard to spending money at other times. As a Scot I am sure you appreciate this. I haven't been to the Museum because I can't justify the cost to see something (The Wildlife Park) in which I have no interest. The point I have tried to make is that if the cost to enter the museum is prohibitive because it is viewed by the proprieter as part of the Wildlife Park then I'll not go. This doesn't show bad feeling against Mr Sampson but simply if i want to view the Museum it should be possible to do so as a stand alone. It should also be remembered that without the donations from people like me the Wildlife park wouldn't have an added attraction. This is me just trying to illustrate that there are two view points as in every argument. The Committee has made their decision and I fully understand that however I still feel very sad that with the date coming up soon High Beech will remain silent as far as speedway bikes are concerned. I wish the Museum nothing but success and all power to the Committee for the time and hard work that is surely involved. But I still feel that High Beech deserves more otherwise it will dispaear from the Calender once and for all which will be very sad. All The best Harry Ward

Got the same letter to collect mine from Parken. To be fair to them when this hapenned before at Ullevi I got top seats by the starting gate trackside which were very good seats (At Cardiff) I do agree though that the seat tickets could have been sent out as I will be a bit rushed arriving in Copenhagen early afternoon could
-
If, for the various reasons given, the High Beech venue is not capable of holding the event in 2009 then how does is it become viable in 2010. Utter nonsense. As previously described the annual commemerative meeting of fans at High Beech cannot be beaten. Its there because thats where it all started thats the whole point. The stallholders seem to operate under worse conditions at Cardiff so this is a red herring. Personally I have never been a supporter of the Museum as after the way the funds were raised by the fans then those same fans were then expected to pay for entrance to a park that most had no interest in. I felt for Linda and George as to me their efforts were tarnished by what has become a venture for financial gain which surely was never the original intention
