  1. Decent performance from the Rockets who undoubtably have the scope to improve as the season goes on. Len Silver looked pretty happy and so he should given some of the expets views on his team strength. Good to see a few overdue improvements going on at the stadium as well
  2. Harry Ward my name there for all to see, yes it has happened to me when i was critical of a far larger business than Rye House Speedway and it was a National rag, did it worry me no, why? Because i was convinced i was right. If you don't want what comes with having an opinion then don't comment. Simple i would have thought? Shadders is a big boy and i'm sure he can look after himself but once you comment in a forum or twitter or indeed facebook where shadders is registered with a face and real name you leave yourself wide open. You say he put silver himself on a pedestal and can be shot at, fair enough but dont distort the facts and if you had the remotest of knowledge about Rye House Speedway you would understand that for everything he has done wrong he does twice as many things right, well thats my opinion as a Rye House supporter since 1976. I will be critical when i feel the need but not for the sake of it. I hope that covers your observations or question Lioness
  3. Yes forgetting all that ....why forget all that? as you say it contradicts what it says in the programme which is a rip off. So sod em i'll stay at home and they lose my twelve quid makes complete sense but thats speedway no wonder people lose interest. I can only get shafted so many times and i'm rapidly getting to that limit
  4. . Mainly because most of the criticism is unfair. Yes he has made many mistakes far too many for someone of his experience but that said how can you take critical opinions from someone who doesn't actually attend meetings (Chris) As far as mentioning names in the press what is wrong with that? If Silver is mentioned by name so it should follow that by becoming involved then anyone with input can be named too, fact of life Far as i am concerned he got the admission costs wrong and should abandon the rubbish programme those are my only gripes with him. The 2012 team was a decent team, no league winners but certainly good enough to make the top six then anything can happen. No way could he foresee the many injuries he had nor the retirement of Frampton. He replaced the injured Neath with arguably a better rider whose meetings for us has been limited. In Garrity and Lykke he has two excellent kids ready for next year but i see no praise for that The track which has been the subject of many justified complaints is now devoid of dust and has produced some decent racing. He continues to have double header PL/NL meetings for no increase in admission, the three quid programme is optional. We nearly always have a second half and have now got some good kids in the NL team. Several points raised still seem to be about what happened in 2011 where Silver can't be held responsible for what happened to Boxall no way in my opinion can he be slated for doing the decent thing and bringing Boxall back when fit. everyone knew that Doyle was a temporary measure and fair play that he honoured his agreements with riders who were the starting team. Given the amount of stick he got from so called supporters i know if i were him I would have told people if they dont want to go dont. Thats all he said but people sulk, thats it no more than that. Most Football supporters dont like their clubs owners but that doesnt mean they sulk and dont go. As far as walking out on Rye he sold up when he wanted to for what ever the reason he was entitled to do so and quite clearly without his involvement today there would be no speedway. Perhaps thats what some of the Rye House supporters want, perhaps then they will move on to moaning about something else to occupy their time. He seems a very loyal bloke to me for several reasons but he has riders riding for him who remain loyal as they know he will support them when things go wrong and he pays them on time, he obviously took the flack for the Nelson Visa problems which it is now clear that was out of his hands and he was trying to protect the rider. But it is the few areas that he gets wrong that brings so much criticism which which i believe is unfair. As for saturday a loss by ten or more maybe but that will be wiped out on sunday i think
  5. I assume this meeting is being run as a Mildenhall home meeting so why are the rain off tickets now not being honoured as per the Mildenhall website? Since the meeting has been moved there has been no announcement re the rain off tickets. I will feel royally ripped off if they are not taken for tonight
  6. So many points thrown away by Rye suggested to me that they would have been happy for Ipswich to take all three points but so poor are the witches that they couldn't even manage that. With Gjedde at no 1 rather than an Ipswich rider guesting against Ipswich it would have been pretty embarassing for the home side.
  7. Seen the names Kling and Lanham banded about throughout the season and one of them ok but both would be a disaster, both are capable of third heat leader status and with a big No1 in situ and strenght in depth would be ok at a push as second heat leaders but both together i reckon another season of disasters beckon. Seen enough of Kling to think he wouldN't improve much on his assessed average and lanham who has recently said he is very happy at Ipswich no longer looks the real deal to me. Think we have the makings of a very useful side for next year but really do need a top No 1 to round it off
  8. Bunyan, Nelson,Garrity, Lykke and Mellgren are nailed on, i don't see Len deciding on the other two until he knows exactly what the format will be. Next season is too unpredictable to call so given these five are more than likely definite i think we!ll have to wait for the other two.
  9. That was a decent meeting given it was against a very poor Ipswich team. Only Dakota North left with any pride. As far as the Rocket of the year garrity by a mile, not just for his racing but for his infectious enthusiasm without any of the shortcomings that were predicted by some Belle Vue supporters. Doubt that the daft old bugger who runs the club will get any congratulations for getting him to the club, making him feel welcome, keeping him level headed and assisting his progress just as he did with Woffinden and Sundstrom and likely will do with Robert Lambert too.
  10. A rider generally rides for whoever he wants irrespective of who owns his contract but i would be surprised if he was at Rye next year. Regarding Lens facalties it has nothing to do with him who is at Rye on saturday, The situation has become confused due to the number of fixtures that Ipswich now have and they are now involved in a northern tour week with satuturday seeing them at Workington so as i understand it the fixtures were swapped to accomodate Ipswich. I can only guess that bolly refers to lens senility because of all the injuries and retirement that he has suffered this season seeing us end up at the wrong end of the table, that said he must be senile given that he still keeps speedway going at Rye with all the insults hurled at him Decent battling performance where we should have won. I thought i saw that Sanchez was supposed to be riding
  11. Wasn't going to bother with but a last minute change of mind and a third trip kto Sheffield. We never get anything up there and i don't suppose wil will tomorrow either, be interested to see how Mellgren goes this time around
  12. With the engine he used last week no one will get near Garrity even if he doesn't gate. Stefan impresses every time i see him. Other than those two i don't see anyone else.
  13. The cut off date came before rye throwing a spanner in the works by winning at stoke. Political decision to ensure the standalone teams stoke and isle of wight got through Probably lucky for len anyway as now we are in the pl losers tournament he would have struggled to fit the two extra meetings if the raiders had gone all the way How rye run their meetings cannot be compared to a much emptier fixture list at stoke. Given the 7 rainoffs some of which were double headers and the farce of the british semi final he did very well to complete the home fixtures. Once it became apparent that rye had a chance of qualification the cut off date could have been extended another 3 days without interfering with the playoffs. Poor show and how stupid the league table will look when the top four sides wont be in the playoffs...mockery
  14. Left it as late as possible to get from essex got there last minute parked up down the road went to go in and was told i couldnt come in as i had a cheese sandwich in my bag, what do you do? Annoyed because of the time i hadnt eaten it on the way. Slung it the paid up having been assured by the bspa site that weather was due later. Sixty quid on petrol and another twenty four for entry and programme and treated like an animal. Always my favourite meeting of the season since it was first run donkeys years ago. Sadly it will be my last, sorry sheffield speedway but it seems the owners of the stadium have cost you my future visits to the place.
  15. First time for a very long time that i have enjoyed a double header at Rye. nought to do with the wins but how well both meetings were run. Have been used to five hour epics but three and a half hours plus a few minutes was pretty good. You can only beat whats in front of you and nice to finish with a win. Whilst i agree its more meetings to watch cant say i relish another trip to Ipswich or watching them at Rye again, just too much. Not sure why doyle would have a problem with Len. Len named him as a temporary signing and doyle signed that contract, Len stayed loyal to his original team and doyle moved on. Cant understand why doyle wouldnt take guest meetings at rye, extra bucks for which he has been paid and he certainly piled up the points with plenty of effort Lambert still looks uncomfortable on the rye track but still a good performance, garrity the one shining star this season, Mellgren steady, lykke getting a nice average for next season and looked happier at reserve, bunyan remains for me disappointing and doyle again what a number one should be like and i would swallow my gripes about him last year and say yes please for 2013 Doolan again looked good as did Tully, but nothing really from the monarchs Thought the raiders were going to blow it keep throwing points away but came good in the end All things being equal a good night out worth the sixteen quid
  16. With Garrity back and Connor Coles looking good this team now looks very good. Shame about the playoffs as given the current teams strengths we are now a match for anyone.
  17. With Doyle and Garrity in the side i cant see anything but a rye win. Given that we have a few more meetings to go to in a competion that no one cares about and of course our grand finale. Season to forget more down to our injuries and the continued choice of RR. Than anything else.
  18. When you have a team full of guests and using RR as Rye have i find it difficult to keep much interest. For me Gjedde hasn't worked, what with injuries, his Wife giving birth and his Fathers illness he seems more like a guest himself. Tonking for Rye House which is sad on a track we used to do so well on.
  19. for me the worst meeting of the season year in year out. Especially the naff cheap formula Never have i read such a load of rubbish. Funny how you attacked me for hiding behind an alias and here you are having abandonned RMC. I have supported Rye since 76 don't recall ever Seeing you at an away match and yet you are giving a tonking to shadders who i don't know but do see regularly, one of a few i hasten to add that does put his money where his mouth is and travel to support the rockets. This season has been poor by Len Silver standards but as poor as it has been it cannot rival the depression that Russell bought to our club. As for the Hoddesdon area what a snobbish comment you make but then again an unsurprising one given the way you bored the pants off of the Rye faithful every week during your overly long stint as announcer. Also unsurprising is your return to posting drivel just amazed it took you so long. Here you are using a new monika have you still got me barred from contacting you as you cowardly did during your last stint on the forum. Do the regular contributors a favour and dont return, walk away from Rye...thought you did that years ago Harry ward...see no alias
  20. He has put almost two points on to his starting average? And for someone of Bunyans experience spending the season at reserve you don!t expect more? And the logic that a further two points would be put on to his average next year is nonsense and if that is the expectation why include him to languish at reserve with barely a double figure haul when he is having seven rides almost every meeting Things got a lot worse not slowly worse after Silver left. Speedway in this current financial climate will not remain at Rye without a really strong business plan in place. Take away the fact that a prospective Promoter would not get refreshment takings and would have to pay rent as well would be a complete non starter. Unless of course a complete clown (and there a few promoting at the moment) could be found. Then the place could be shut in a season. I sometimes wonder if thats what the moaners really want. And by moaners i don't mean those who constructively criticise. Len Silver has put his money where his mouth is. Not many around who would do that, he clearly loves the club and lets face it its his club and i doubt there would be anyone around more disappointed at the moment. To say he doesn't listen is blatant nonsense. He won't listen to some of the crap on here but go and tell him face to face what you think and he will listen. The track is no longer dusty, the extra cost to watch double headers has all but gone, he has tried to change things some have worked and some like the rider presentation hasn't. If Len has one fault it is that he is too decent a man who shows loyalty to his riders when they show him loyalty. No a bad fault really
  21. To be fair what has happened this season with results has nought to do with the team selection at the start of the season. The injuries have ravaged the team and the timing of the Frampton retirement was the last nail. Until then a playoff place was fiifty fifty. You simply can't run with guests and r/r for longer than a couple of meetings. Been one of those seasons simple as tha Gjedde has over the last few seasons missed far too many meetings Why would Robson ome back when he is at Newcastle? Bunyan in the main body of the team? Might as well throw in the towell now. He has been at reserve almost the entire season for a pretty awful average, why would things change. Not to include Kasper if his average is a concern at season end would be suicidal. The inclusion of Nelson would be foolish given what has happened this year unless of course you believe the visa application wasn't on the correctly headed correspondence He has put almost two points on to his starting average? And for someone of Bunyans experience spending the season at reserve you don!t expect more? And the logic that a further two points would be put on to his average next year is nonsense and if that is the expectation why include him to languish at reserve with barely a double figure haul when he is having seven rides almost every meeting
  22. Bunyan easily the biggest disappointment. I don't bother with rolling average rubbish i look to see what he has done this season for Rye which is very little. I assume he will be here next year as Len bought his contract. Maybe he might be ok in a successful team at reserve but his form around Rye has been awful. As far as Chris and his hatred for all that is Silver....remember the last time Len Sold up we closed pretty soon after. As far as seven man teams i agree that is easily better than r/r but who is around? The luck of injuries has been worse than i can remember for a very long time. Young Poles to put bums on seats. Never works in the PL..too expensive, unreliable and too many meetings for them too fit in. As for Ben he is simply not up to it (at the moment) look at him struggling compared to Stefan Neilsen who will surely be in the Ipswich team next year i would imagine.
  23. The watering did away with any home advantage. Just look at the scores befor and after Yes Ben may do ok at Rye but away he is not up to it. Ipswich he had three rides and was never in touch. We have not had a team that could carry a rider like Ben in the full line up for several years The adverse camber is barely on the racing line and anyone going that wide would be out of the race anyway. Don't see it as an issue Lykke looks like he will be ok next year unless we have picked the only Dane that can't gate Lambert unlikely to be an improvement on Hawkins but i hope he proves us wrong Decent Guest in the end but the difference in the teams was no Garrity. Good to see Chris Neath looking reasonably well. Wish him a full recovery but looks like we will need a new no1 Hope one of the bare fixtures see a bit of a benefit meeting for him Puzzling comments from Len in his programme notes wish he would just keep quiet to be honest.
