He has put almost two points on to his starting average? And for someone of Bunyans experience spending the season at reserve you don!t expect more? And the logic that a further two points would be put on to his average next year is nonsense and if that is the expectation why include him to languish at reserve with barely a double figure haul when he is having seven rides almost every meeting Things got a lot worse not slowly worse after Silver left. Speedway in this current financial climate will not remain at Rye without a really strong business plan in place. Take away the fact that a prospective Promoter would not get refreshment takings and would have to pay rent as well would be a complete non starter. Unless of course a complete clown (and there a few promoting at the moment) could be found. Then the place could be shut in a season. I sometimes wonder if thats what the moaners really want. And by moaners i don't mean those who constructively criticise. Len Silver has put his money where his mouth is. Not many around who would do that, he clearly loves the club and lets face it its his club and i doubt there would be anyone around more disappointed at the moment. To say he doesn't listen is blatant nonsense. He won't listen to some of the crap on here but go and tell him face to face what you think and he will listen. The track is no longer dusty, the extra cost to watch double headers has all but gone, he has tried to change things some have worked and some like the rider presentation hasn't. If Len has one fault it is that he is too decent a man who shows loyalty to his riders when they show him loyalty. No a bad fault really

To be fair what has happened this season with results has nought to do with the team selection at the start of the season. The injuries have ravaged the team and the timing of the Frampton retirement was the last nail. Until then a playoff place was fiifty fifty. You simply can't run with guests and r/r for longer than a couple of meetings. Been one of those seasons simple as tha Gjedde has over the last few seasons missed far too many meetings Why would Robson ome back when he is at Newcastle? Bunyan in the main body of the team? Might as well throw in the towell now. He has been at reserve almost the entire season for a pretty awful average, why would things change. Not to include Kasper if his average is a concern at season end would be suicidal. The inclusion of Nelson would be foolish given what has happened this year unless of course you believe the visa application wasn't on the correctly headed correspondence He has put almost two points on to his starting average? Bunyan easily the biggest disappointment. I don't bother with rolling average rubbish i look to see what he has done this season for Rye which is very little. I assume he will be here next year as Len bought his contract. Maybe he might be ok in a successful team at reserve but his form around Rye has been awful. As far as Chris and his hatred for all that is Silver....remember the last time Len Sold up we closed pretty soon after. As far as seven man teams i agree that is easily better than r/r but who is around? The luck of injuries has been worse than i can remember for a very long time. Young Poles to put bums on seats. Never works in the PL..too expensive, unreliable and too many meetings for them too fit in. As for Ben he is simply not up to it (at the moment) look at him struggling compared to Stefan Neilsen who will surely be in the Ipswich team next year i would imagine.

Rye House V Leicester Pl 27 August

The watering did away with any home advantage. Just look at the scores befor and after Yes Ben may do ok at Rye but away he is not up to it. Ipswich he had three rides and was never in touch. We have not had a team that could carry a rider like Ben in the full line up for several years The adverse camber is barely on the racing line and anyone going that wide would be out of the race anyway. Don't see it as an issue Lykke looks like he will be ok next year unless we have picked the only Dane that can't gate Lambert unlikely to be an improvement on Hawkins but i hope he proves us wrong Decent Guest in the end but the difference in the teams was no Garrity. Good to see Chris Neath looking reasonably well. Wish him a full recovery but looks like we will need a new no1 Hope one of the bare fixtures see a bit of a benefit meeting for him Puzzling comments from Len in his programme notes wish he would just keep quiet to be honest. -

i understand that Ron is in charge of all the track prep work for all the sky meetings. Not sure if he has other responsibilities for meeting co ordination I am surprised at a statement attributed to Mr Sampford re 30 quid a point. Not like John to tell tales as he values his position . And if that is the going rate then i am very surprised that Jason Doyle seems keen to help out so often. -
i was at speedway? I never reaslised. Couple of passes when a rider hit a bump or hole and that was about it. More like a parade of bikes. Rubbish meeting. Cardiff being found out. Overpriced falling crowds I go to speedway for racing not the rubbish on show. i was at speedway? I never reaslised. Couple of passes when a rider hit a bump or hole and that was about it. British Grand Prix 2012
westhamboy66 replied to willstaxi's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Drab meeting overpriced with more and more empty seats each year. When will bsi learn that when supply far out strips demand they are charging far too much. Speedway is not formula one or moto GP. Ten quid programme. Not a value for money day out. The only racing at cardiff is when a rider hits a hole or rut and they go out of control. Speedway is about racing not just a crowd and a load of air horns. Had that GP been anywhere else it would have been labelled rubbish. Crowds on the decline for years now irrespective of what the official attendance says. Fair play to Scott gave his all and apart from crump hitting the rut he would have made the simi so pat on the back for Scott. My love affair with Cardiff ended years ago and six hours to get there from Essex (210 miles all motorway) didnt help -

Isle of Wight Leicester Arena Essex and Iwade. Others i know have had major problems at Edinburgh. The first three acting on instructions from T Russell of Gospeed. All concening rights issued re Images that are all owned by Mr Russells company Gospeed. Happens all the time Places like Rye ignore it and Peterborough wrote a lovely welcoming letter saying as long as any photos are for personal use and not for sale. Before anyone mentions flash or red lights interferring the vast majority of casual photographers use the sport setting and flash and red lights are not emittedAs for big Ron ...decimated Rye as he did Arena. Big bloke though and i remember Rob Woffinden being upset with another rider and he went on track to have a pop and Ron grabbed him picked him up and carried him back to the pits. I think you made the wise choice in not mentioning Rye House to him. Perhaps you could have blamed him for the state of British Speedway though as he was the bloke who got the European riders into the PL -
We talk nothing happens, some continue to go some don't hence we look like we are going down the tubes. What would i like to see well Out and out No1 Retention of Mellgren, Lykke and Garrity Many have been consistant in their wish for a team without Chris and Luke so this time round it will almost certainly have it but lets go the whole hog and bring in some riders with an away track bias Get the riders out on parade on bikes preferably in pairs Do the toss and a quick interview with the captains (craig not len) Get someone to do the announcing of the results and let Craig do what he does best ..rider interviews Out the programme. I'd rather pay two quid less and get a free racecard...it's full of rubbish anyway Run every saturday for continuity Later start for BH meetings as afternoons rarely work Re invent the supporters club Run slicker quicker meetings and put a stop to 15 heats taking 2 1/2 hours where there are no incidents Dump the Raiders unless we intend to be competative

Reckon i will have to leave Peterboro by heat 12 but i am going just to take pictures really and their track is one of the best for that AND they are so welcoming and not threatening to sling you out if you are caught with a camera. Thanks Mr Russell Done it many times no probs with rye slow meetings as plenty of time to get to mildenhall but peterborough to rye is a bit of a dash -
Bolly i appreciate what you are saying re Ben and i too like the boy but having watched him again struggle and fail to finish a race at Ipswich tonight it is obvious that he is nowhere near the PL standard. Whether it is at Rye or not he needs to make an impact in the NL next year and his best chance to improve may be away from Rye next year. As far as Lambert goes he looked ok tonight with plenty of fight.
-
Bolly whilst thats a nice idea but dump Simon Lambert? No way would Len do that to a rider who he has shaken hands its just not in his nature. As far as Ben is concerned i still dont see a premier league rider when i watch him. Yes he needs the experience but until he shows he is capable of banging in big scores each raiders meeting he cannot be considered. To qualify for the playoffs we need a minor miracle and Masters would be a signing only for the rest of this year. I prefer we go down the route of auditioning riders with view to next year

Rye House V Leicester Pl 27 August
westhamboy66 replied to Vincent Vega's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
As the Rye season grinds on it becomes more difficult each week to get up for it. Had it not been for the introduction of Casper i would seriously consider not bothering to do this meeting. Whatever the line ups i take Rye to win with relative ease. Hope the weather holds up as i intend to do Peterborough in the morning and Mildenhall in the evening so three in a day for the first time in a few years -
So many Aussies out there that would fit the bill, perhaps you shouldn't ask a relative for a reccomendation which explains the first one and sadly Lens loyaly with the second was never going to be repaid. Generally they are exciting loyal and crowd favourites. No need to look further than Trevor O'Brien for one of the biggest crowd favourites since Len moved the Rockets to Rye
-
So Lambert is now back in having left Stoke. I just hope it's all worth it. Still sceptical about his ability to raise his average beyond Richie Hawkins but wish him well in the coming weeks. Hope it turns out well and also that after a rest Richie gets a berth somewhere as he is a decent racer. Have to say i am more concerned in the decision making this season that seems slightly dodgy to say the least. From my first view of Casper at Leicester i think it's obvious he will be a winner but far more of a concern is the temporary feeling about Mellgren. I do hope we don't end up losing the boy who from day one has been the real deal. Sign him up and we have the basis of a proper team next year that can get better as the season progresses.

Very nasty crash for Jason he was very lucky to walk away. Basically after a great race with Gary Irving Irving chose to fence Garrity right at the start line. Didn't look good and he was down for quite a while. Shame the Dudley fans misbehaved badly spoiling what was a decent meeting

Mildenhall V Dudley Sun 19th Aug 16:30
westhamboy66 replied to 21st century heathen's topic in National League Speedway
As a Rye House supporter i have to say that the Dudley fans today were a disgrace. I went just to see Jason Garrity and have no connection to Mildenhall. Right from the word go the constant barrage of "cheat" aimed at Michael Lee was mindless as was the treatment aimed at Garrity before the meeting started. The abuse aimed at Jacobs after his fall and the cheering after the highside fall by the Mildenhall reserve in heat two was disgusting as was the foul language being used which has no place in a family sport. If only the Dudley fans put as much effort into supporting their team as they put into abusing everyone else they would be a credit to their club rather than disgrace it. No wonder Jan O was shaking his head in the pits. -

If what you say is 100% true then how were Rye House unaware of this and if the rider was aware then didn't he think to mention it when speaking to Rye. Equally how could he have pssibly doubled up with another saturday track. Easy to make it sound as though its Silvers fault but the whole truth isn't coming out. Is anyone really interested? Became a bore by may. Don't see that they have to "come clean" about anything. Nelson is on Facebook why not ask him? Agreed if i were Richie i'd tell them thanks but no thanks. As far as Ben is concerned i don't see that he's up to it unless they are prepared to give him a run in the team til the end of the season. He'll get nothing out of one meeting here and there. That said the team is in no fit state to carry a rider whilst giving him experience. I didn't see Lambert as a serious replacement for Hawkins either
-
Feel for Richie as it hasn't worked but not due to a lack of effort. Sad to see him go. Still leaves us with six not seven riders and i would have preferred to have seen someone added to replace Luke rather than this change. R/R rarely works for us especially over such a long period. Lets hope Simon fits in well and has some decent luck

Rye House V Workington 13/8/12
westhamboy66 replied to cityrebel's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Easily the best meeting of the season of the season by far. Just can't understands the comments regarding the track and it's dryness. Weather forecast was awful, black clouds in the sky. Watering did take place during the meeting and there was no dust and the racing was good so why moan? I'm sure Mr Silver has enough experience of track prep.Five of last nights side will be in the team next year without a doubt. Lanham,Mellgren,Lykke, with Bunyan and Garritty at reserve the basis of a very good team. I say Lanham as its quite clear from his body language that Rye is the place he wants to be Good post. Can't disagree with anything you said. -

Great effort from a depleted inexperienced Rockets team. Result never in doubt just a shame we dropped a point. Fantastic effort from jason garrity again. Fair play to Workington who their part in a decent meeting. Was a pleasure as normal to watch Roynon and Bach. -

He has to run at all cost where possible with Workington being a saturday night track. With so many meeting left to run before the extended cut off. Shame as with a depleted side and dodgy weather seems like another poor crowd may be on the cards. Feel sorry for the Promotion with the rain offs and injuries it seems like its been a pretty costly season that has had no continuity. Fingers crossed for the weather and it will be nice to see Adam Roynon again
