  1. Perhaps a low crowd and a massive defeat is what needs to happen. Sick of the way the last few seasons have gone, my major enjoyment has always been following the Rockets away from home but this load of dross isn't worth the effort. Even with a full strength side at Somerset last night we might have struggled to thirty five. Fed up with hearing about the mechanical issues surrounding Steve Boxall and i am very disappointed with the eleven which is really nine from five rides from Kennett, not acceptable from a rider who should be averaging over ten. With the heavy away defeats along with the loss at home to the mob from up the road Silver will be lucky to get a few hundred in the meetings coming up. Despite annual optimism i give up just as the team have to being two heat leaders short of a decent team. no fun for the money at the moment
  2. Quote of the afternoon from Craig Saul....The ref awarded the race after one lap as he is aware of the time is getting on. Pity he never applied that logic to the PL meeting that dragged on without any sensible use of the two minute warning, was spoilt by the considerable number of unsatisfactory starts etc.I feel for the boys in the second half, whilst it is great our club Rye House persevere with second halves i do wonder what benefit they get riding on concert with no grip whatsoever. Then for the ref not to treat their races with respect is the final insult
  3. For me very poor business, long term Connor is a far better prospect. By comparison Aaron has been around a long time without nailing down a permanent team slot. Suspect the Coles Family link to Mildenhall held the key to this.
  4. Well laugh at them maybe but I'd rather watch Scunthorpe week in week out than Cradley, yes Ben i share your view about it supposed to be for developing riders but that isn't in the Cradley agenda. One thing is for sure a raw novice will improve when riding for Scunthorpe that is certain.
  5. Rye House v Plymouth https://secure.flickr.com/photos/harryward/sets/72157644449514918/
  6. All things considered a very good meeting on what looked a well prepared track congratulations to all the riders for their efforts Great to see Luke Bowen giving it a right go especially after his fall. Not sure there was any incident with Ben Morley, Luke held is ground and despite all the hand waving it showed why Ben isn't yet included at Rye House. Indeed he did himself no favours when the two met again. One thing that really pleased me was finally seeing the real Luke Chessell he was very impressive.
  7. Had an incident some time ago at Rye where a team mate suffered in a similar way to yesterday. the explanation was given by Craig that in the rules it states that a rider who is affected by actions of his team mate is not treated in the same way as if it was an opponent in other words tough. if that is the case then that is a terrible rule. One thing on the starting mullarkey Sergeants antics were not as bad one race where Rasmus Jensen was rolling so far i simply cannot understand how the race wasn't stopped. Would love to say this was the worst ref i have seen this season but a certain female at Kent a few weeks ago gets the prize so far. Looking ahead with possible doubts over Edward and Stefan and the absence of Matty and Jason G i hope a burst pipe under the track and a dodgy weather prediction has been sorted out otherwise we will be on the wrong end of a real hiding against Somerset
  8. First followed Simmo in 63 at Hackney and was pleased to see him move to West Ham. Such a shame to lose two boyhood hero's in Simmo and Tony Clarke in such a short space of time RIP Malc
  9. Yes unlucky start for Stefan and the Rockets but we had the rub of the green for the rest of the match. Stayed for the six second half races so a total of three and a half hours. Typical sunday afternoon meeting not helped by poor refereeing no attempt to speed the meeting up even when taking into consideration the delays after the falls for Stefan and Adam. Sick of races being called back as unsatisfactory then only to see no two minute warning put on and the riders returning to the pits. Shame because it spoilt some good racing. Great performance from Ben Barker, did all he could and i think the Devils can consider themselves unlucky not to take a point home
  10. Watched a lot of Stefan at Mildenhall and thought he was on par or better than Lewis Blackbird and look how well he is doing. Very positive move.
  11. Similar margin win or better compared to Sheffield last week. Stefan starting well for us is so important not just for Sunday but the rest of the season too
  12. And fair play to Simon, i felt for him and it was clear for me he cared very much, i wish him well
  13. Tommy was the main reason i did the awful District line journey from Plaistow to Wimbledon Park most weeks. I was driving past Bow Road underground station for my only ever visit to Somerton Park when the news came on the radio. If i remember rightly that was the night PC never showed. For me his Death also meant a the end of Wimbledon Speedway as we knew it. The book on his life is one of the very best books i have ever read and is a great insight into how big a star he really was. RIP Tommy
  14. Damned if he does damned if he doesn't he is an easy target for criticism but he'll get none from me, I've seen too many tracks that i supported close down, including Rye. I applaud what he has tried to do this year and the only problem i had was Simon didn't work first time so was unlikely he would this year. The team now looks balanced and will be strong at home and the only unknown is how many points we can take on the road. The other worry is the amount of meetings Jason and Stefan will be doing. If they all stay fit then we should have a decent season, thumbs up from me
  15. Me neither not that it would happen anyway unless we were using RR
  16. Well Simon Lambert has gone, yes true silverware might be beyond us but will our "local rivals" ever be good enough to beat us this year i have my doubts. Common sense especially given the huge expense that has been forced on Len Silver this year. Honourable man who has taken the financial burden on his shoulders once again this year. The team is far from league winners but we have saturday night speedway to watch , Simon Lambert has gone and hopefully the replacement will make us a little stronger. Personally I'd thank Simon for his efforts which were not good enough but I'm sure it hurt him more than any of the fans who were berating him on saturday. I wish him well for the rest of the season at Kent and Birmingham
  17. Thought Sheffield were very good visitors and could easily see them winning until we hot the two five one's. Great to see Andre Compton back at Rye House, one of those riders like Jason Lyons and Shane Parker who i always wanted to see Line up for Rye Len really needs to make the change not only to improve the reserves and give us a chance at a decent season but also for Simon. Getting stick on the night can't be pleasant and with the effort he puts in isn't deserved but his second spell has been a disaster with him going backwards and nothing away from home either. Great to see Chris Neath and sad to hear him confirming that that's it for him riding. Fully earned a benefit meeting and like with Luke fully deserved
  18. Well when we were beating everyone by thirty points the moaners didn't like it so they got what they wanted. I wouldn't turn my back on the team i supported since '76 but equally i didn't think we would have carried two passengers into June even with loyal Len and Mr Motivator in charge. Jason Bunyan has never lived up to my expectations and unless he averages seven then i think he needs to go. As for Simon he may be getting decent scores for Kent but its against poor opponents and anyone who has seen him at Kent will know he looks about as comfortable on a bike there as he does at Rye. Think we'll get all three points but Sheffield will do much better at our place than we will at theirs
  19. Was always my favourite meeting along with fours at Peterborough, yes my team are currently rubbish but i wont attend the pairs again until all teams are represented, not rocket science. So instead of a costly weekend it's a quick punt up and down the M4 and less money in the BSPA coffers.
  20. I echo the sentiments, two hero's from the sixties good luck Malc
  21. First remember Malcolm from Hackney then my beloved Custom House. Best wishes to the Docklands Pearl.
  22. What's the weather doing? Blue skies and sun in thurrock Poor forecast but are they ever right? Hope its on
  23. You are right of course however AT OTHER TRACKS WHERE THEY DO NOT PROVIDE A SERVICE? Thats where it falls down . If say the announcer at Rye House turned up at Ipswich to watch would he expect to pay? White Knight is right far too many hangers on who contribute nothing to the sport and yet smack down others who do part with their hard earned cash when they question how the sport is being run. The fast track may be a good idea for some but with riders riding in three divisions the guest situation has now become epidemic. No fun for example for an Ipswich supporter to watch his team minus Adam Ellis replaced by an inferior rider because he was riding for Lakeside. The future of British speedway is to have more British riders agreed but there are not more British riders around just some who are riding for two or three clubs on a regular basis. Simon Lambert springs to mind, a likeable young man but does the future of British Speedway look better with Simon riding for Kent, Rye House and Birmingham? Reality of the fast track riders is that it makes the Elite League cheaper to run, i doubt anyone other than the likes of Neil Vatcher and Phil Morris could care less.
  24. Whatever you think of the Promotion the last thing we need at Rye are Kings Lynn style speakers banging out rap style rubbish music given the fact that there are now houses and flats very close by the track. Surprised the local council are not already inundated with noise complaints given the situation at MildenhallAs far as food it's rubbish, then again most sporting venues supply overpriced small portions that taste awful, why buy it? I'm not a drinker but if someone wants a drink there's a pub in the car park for Gods sake
