Swc King's Lynn Traffic Problems
westhamboy66 replied to Star Lady's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Thanks for the advice but ...i pay road tax but mustn't use local roads? ok...i must remember to consign my £300 sat nav to the bin and pop out and buy a map that wont show the local roads i suppose....beggars belief i do hope in future the village people stay clear of the M25 and A13 when they come to lakeside as the manure from their horse drawn carts leave us townies very unhappy. -
Arena Essex V Kent Kings.
westhamboy66 replied to Jonny the spud's topic in National League Speedway
I don't think Claret was being unreasonable at all. Its a nothing meeting between a team that doesn't exist and another team that has had to look elsewhere to make up their team. Given the difficulties in getting to Arena on a friday night it may well have been an incentive to set the price accordingly. Sorry Bryn but the comments about not having to use the Dartford tunnel is pretty daft and obviously mischievous. Some people who continually knock down sensible comments because they challenge those who run our once great sport become tiresome having such a one way blinkered view. I praise when praise is due like sunday having free entry at Eastbourne but there are times when Promoters get it wrong. -
All very sad, the last meeting i was at saw three military planes land at MAFB causing ten times the noise of a Speedway meeting. Still amazed at these findings. Newham Council used to field many hundreds of complaints from local residents in regard of WHUFC and the nuisance caused by football they always responded with the stadium has been there since 1904 so everyone living there would have been aware and as such nullified their complaints

Rye House V Panthers 19/07/2014 @ 7pm
westhamboy66 replied to mudflaps's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
so its better for fans to turn up, pay to get in then have the meeting postponed just before the start wasting everybody's money. I used to attend around eighty meetings a year now its down to sixty. The reason ....because too many times in the past at places like Peterborough and Kings Lynn I have paid my money to get in and been shocked at the state of the track knowing full well the meeting would never be on and was let in just to get my money. So now if there is a dodgy forecast i won't go simply because their are some unscrupulous Promoters that have the fans over, that said i trust the likes of Eastbourne Rye and Lakeside my most local tracks to make an honest decision. Why should Len Silver throw money away when there is a high possibility of a postponement. If he did what all the whiners wanted the club would be bankrupt and go the same way as Birmingham Ordinarily i would agree but this was slightly different. The size of the storms we suffered would easily wipe out a meeting. whilst they were few and far between the downpours were heavy enough to cause localised flooding. the Forecasts were more favourable but since when are they even 50% right? At 4PM all of the riders would have been on the way and gone are the days when nearly all of the fourteen riders would be living within a couple of hours travel.think he got it right even though he got it wrong if you know what i mean -
I applaud Coventry for a pretty decent offer and hopefully it will encourage the affected people to visit Coventry next year too My club Rye House don't offer a season ticket and i doubt they ever will. That said i emailed Jon Cook at Lakeside and asked would it ever be possible to purchase a block of vouchers for any BSPA venue and get say a ten percent discount. For example I buy £200 voucher use it at Lakeside one week and they take their admission fees of £17 less ten person off the voucher value. The following week i attend Rye House and they take their fee of £16 less ten percent. The benefits would be i get a cheaper admission the BSPA are guaranteed that i have to spend a set amount of money which they would have up front these could be stored on a credit card type of card and would be easily accessible at both tracks as they used credit card machines. The BSPA could sell them via their website or at participating tracks. I thought it was a good idea, there maybe a hundred reasons why it wouldn't work but at the very least i thought i would get a response as Mr Cook is on the Management committee. Well that was last year and of course i didn't get any sort of response, typical i suppose. When Graham Drury was in charge at Birmingham i emailed him twice and both times got same day replies. No wonder Birmingham got stuffed when he walked away Because Speedway doesn't have anywhere near as many supporters that it thinks it has because many fans are speedway fans, i attend regularly at Ipswich Kent Lakeside Eastbourne and as many others that i can and it has nothing to do with my team Rye House being there or not and guess what, i am far from being alone as i see the same old faces at many venues.

How Can Sweden Afford To Pay The Top Riders
westhamboy66 replied to cityrebel's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Arthur You are underestimating the crowds at Lakeside. I would say they are one of the safest clubs as long as Arena Essex remains available to them. Not on my telly they don't -
No i don't think Lambert is better than Stead at this moment in time. Cook has proved he's not up to it unlike Harris who has never let down Team GB. All this think of the future stuff makes me laugh. Good thinking if you are looking to progress young talent but that's not what the World Cup is all about. There is clearly a need for us to return to a few Test matches that could surely be arranged, then the kids could be blooded without the pressure. Whist having an eye on the future we mustn't neglect to remember the importance of today. Danny King will give it a good go as will Simon Stead, the bulk of the scoring will need to be from Woffinden and Harris and i think we will have a decent chance of winning the round

Well i go for the racing and the track was the best i can remember but the racing was ok nothing more and far inferior compared with lesser riders at Somerset the night before. An enjoyable evening and if the stadium was not in Rip off City I'd tend to agree about the Stadium itself. All that said you must be tongue in cheek with your references concerning Wembley and The Olympic Stadium especially the latter which will have a capacity that would be within reach of Speedway if the pricing was done correctly and with transport links that are second to none.

Photo's On This Forum?
westhamboy66 replied to Shale Searcher's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Links to photos are pinned to SPEEDWAY NEWS AND DISCUSSIONS. Several people post links to their photos. I post there a reasonable amount it takes you to where my photos are hosted. You can view them easily and in general people post their stuff in meeting order. I do it for my pleasure, i don't sell or provide others with photos and i would suggest the posting of actual photos would cause a massive fuss due to image rights etc. equally i wouldn't put it past some forum users to steal my images and sell them themselves There has been a serious discussion on this forum re this subject -

Perhaps you would like to bring a bloke in like they did at Birmingham who can shut the place down in half a seasonExactly how were they forward thinking and dragging speedway into modern times? I'm not a Silver lover but without him there would be no speedway in Kent and Hertfordshire that is for certain Silver gets things wrong as do others but at least he pays his riders on time

Panthers V Rye House (pl) Tues 8/7/14
westhamboy66 replied to Crump99's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
For me his (Garrity) attitude since March has been shocking, i think this draft lark has done untold damage. Instances this season where a riders three teams all due to ride on the same day, no real top flight experience being gained, the PL is far harder for them to score big in simply because they are their hardest meetings. As for Garrity this season has seen his real side, doesn't give a toss about the club that saved his career and life from going down the pan. His body language at Rye is as bad as i have ever seen, his machinery for Rye has been sub NL standard the boy is a disgrace to his profession.Garrity said in an interview he loves Wolverhampton and my money is on him ending up there next year, Silver needs to re invest any cash he makes on a deal in the team. Too much deadwood in the side. Quite frankly the only one i would like to see retained is Edward Kennett as his average should be far more manageable As for Bunyan turning up late he seems to me another that is going through the motions and should be shown the door ASAP. -

westhamboy66 replied to Crump99's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
As well as Rye i do a fair bit of Kents meetings too, Simon Lambert apart they were awful at Mildenhall and last night at Kent they were a disgrace again Lambert entertained everyone. Very poor crowd on a Kent track that had a blue groove by heat nine. I left after heat 13 with more dirt in my hair than was on the track. Everyone calling for Silvers head....a real parallel with what is happening at Rye. I have defended the bloke all the way til now and enough is enough both Kent and Rye will be dead if Len doesn't see reason and bring someone in and i don't mean some idiot with a stopwatch round his neck -

westhamboy66 replied to Crump99's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Must have been something he ate at Wolverhampton last night after he scored 17 without an engine failure in sightOur season can get no worse might as well dump this waster now. Take the money from the highest bidder use it to finance the flights of Mellgren and Aspgren next season and have some decent riders that actually want to ride for us. I for one hope he gets a ride at Cardiff and blows an engine on the startline. No wonder Belle Vue fans were happy to see the back of him Anyway thought we might get twenty five tonight doubt his absence will make much difference just hope if its called off its done early as i don't want a wasted 220 miles round trip Put Garrity on a great track like Peterborough and he's rubbish, no loss tonight not having him and his dodgy bikes around. Good to see Matty back 30 points would be a real result for us tonight -
Everything that could go wrong went wrong but Mildenhall have a very decent side, nowhere near Cradley but still very decent. As a Rye Fan it was good to see Simon Lambert doing well at both Mildenhall and at home last night. Shocking track with a blue groove appearing at heat nine i had more dust in my hair than dirt on the track, I'm not an advocating loads of dirt but enough that they are still racing on dirt rather than the base of the track at heat fifteen A quality replacement for David Mason is badly needed as i think his time is up and it would see a better side winning at home and picking up the odd point away. That said you can't carry a reserve every week even at NL level Hit the nail on the head but i fear if more were spent at both tracks on the team there would be no speedway at either venue. Catch 22 really Silver would say he need to cut expenses to stay alive, fans say give us a decent team otherwise I'm not going. Me i love my Speedway so tolerate following poor teams but i am in the minority i fear
-
Amazing that Garrity can perform like this rather than the rubbish he serves up for his parent club Rye House. Seems he uses his decent equipment for Coventry and the stuff from the scrap heap at Rye. Doubt he will be at Coventry next year more likely Wolverhampton as he wont be loaned out again.

World Longtrack Gp
westhamboy66 replied to stevec's topic in Grasstrack, Sidecar, Short Track and Cycle Speedway
Yes I went to Marmande last year and that didn't start until 2100. I assumed it might be similar, the only reason i needed to know was whether to stay in the immediate vicinity as we are on our way down to Spain that weekend. Thanks for your efforts, If i see Matty T at Rye House i can probably get the lowdown from him but he has missed quite few of our home meetings due to his Grass /Longtrack engagements -

Excellent riding from Simon Lambert. Benji Compton gave it his all. Other than that hapless Kent were an embarrassment. -

Rye House V Workington... 5th July, 7pm
westhamboy66 replied to Shadders's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
All six full time riders were a disgrace, Bunyan eight from five (forget the bonus points) at reserve, sorry he's been a major disappointment since he came to Rye. The continual mechanical problems of Jason Garrity says to me he ain't interested in the Pl especially now he is a reserve at Cardiff. Big time Charlie -
