  1. For me the more interesting question is the reverse one...had the one off World championship continued how many titles would Rickardson have won, Would Hancock have improved his tally and would Mark Loram have won any titles at all?
  2. very true reminded me of Mike Broadbank, I was quite young when i first saw Arthur in the pits he genuinely frightened me
  3. Was always happy to watch the Rockets at both of their homes a brilliant new addition, fingers crossed for 2015
  4. Shame you have to make remarks about someone who is dead and unable to react or defend themselves, completely unnecessary and if which i doubt so called moderators do read posts then yours should be removed. RIP Kelly
  5. As a native the result and performance was fine, was good to see one of my favourite riders Kevin Doolan have a decent meeting today, twice ending up on his bum he rattled up a good few points and should have had a couple more in the last race but for bad luck. Shame the geezer with the megaphone on the first bend could only hurl abuse at Silver from a distance yet probably was too frightened of an Octogenerian to say it to his face but then no surprises there i spose
  6. Why is it that it is so important for a rider to be liked by his fellow riders, i actually get a bit sick when the clique get together oozing love for each other I seem to remember Both Hans Nielsen and Ivan Mauger being pretty unpopular with other riders Mork Loram was a very good rider, a world champion, and one who was extremely fortunate to win his title. Darcy Ward is early twenties a pity a few people don't look back at what they were like at that age. i hope he gets himself back on track, fills his life with people who will help him and remain in GB while all the other mercenaries sell their souls in Poland as they enjoy loving each other
  7. Amazing the difference one night makes paid sixteen as a guest at Workington and our former leader JB manages a point tonight better than none i suppose, Glad i didn't go,had a great time watching Lakeside torn apart by Coventry with the Rye House owned rider Jason Garrity top scoring for Coventry instead of being in Berwick where he should have been riding, what a joke our once great sport has become Fair play to Steve Boxall seems Edward forgot all he learnt about the Berwick track then Hope the Newcastle meeting is better to watch
  8. Not a fan of his but he is probably the best rider in the world at the moment, if not then certainly top three. I have Lakeside or should i say Arena Essex on my doorstep but rarely go there, if Poole were in town with Darcy ward i would go, without him i wouldn't bother so British Speedway loses my money. Greg Hancock, Jason Crump, Jarek Hampel, Nicki Pedersen Andreas Jonsson but to name a few all long term employees of British Speedway and they chose to turn their backs and kick British Speedway while it was down, they have all done far more damage to British Speedway than Darcy Ward who love or hate him has remained here to race and yes people pay to watch him.
  9. Nonsense. Dont knock another sport or fellow sportsmen for the sake of it or to make a point. Blazaway makes a very good point I spent my childhood playing sports and aspired be one day be good enough but sadly wasn't Football cricket Rugby etc are all top sports and only the cream rise to the top why knock them? Darcy has my sympathy he is a very brave young man participating in a sport thousands of miles away from home, he is a disaster waiting to happen and i hope his talent shines through one day
  10. Sums up my views in a nutshell being someone who watches mainly PL. I also watch NL and EL but have to say that my order of preference is PL NL EL. The EL is so artificial its embarrassing. Whilst i would love to watch top league racing at Rye House the niche we have is the best, Perhaps the clubs like Birmingham would not be in their current position if they stuck with the tried and tested PL. Peterbourough certainly seem to have more stability than their recent times in the EL
  11. Untrue Rye House didn't arrange this meeting this would have been the only available date for BERWICK ( Both Saturday tracks) to offer as they have to meet the cut off dates for the playoffs. A nothing meeting for Rye as we are bottom but i feel for the Berwick public who will have endure an ever weaker Rye team. Only in Speedway would this farce happen. what incentive is there for a PL team to invest time and money in a rider and his development only to be denied his services. Fast track ...a cheap option to fill a team with lower quality riders while still charging Elite prices. Can see by the size of the crowd at Coventry that the fans are voting with their feet, looked about to be on par with Kent which says it all really except that they are only paying twelve quid to watch it
  12. The PL is suffering from this fast track rubbish. Re arranged fixture or not its ridiculous that Garrity will miss this one to ride for Coventry. He is owned by Rye House and loaned to Coventry and as such should ride whatever the circumstances for his parent club end of. All this does is make the PL look like circus in a similar way to how we have viewed the EL for many years. Just cancelled our hotel as it ain't worth the trip
  13. I felt the same with the quality riders seemingly enjoying themselves, those lesser riders didn't. A clue i think was Greenwood lifting in heat two coming out of the second bend getting some unexpected drive, happened again and down he came. I hope so too as a fully committed Mellgren is a decent second heat leader. Sacking Tres was a decision revolving around his availability i would think, made all the worse by the fact the Promotion would have been aware of it and still signed him with the belief they could use RR which makes his signing a terrible one. That said i think he gave his all and did ok. Seems like we lurched from one mistake to the next with a poor to average team made instantly worse by the loss of Nelson. The inclusion of Lambert was a mistake but he looked a much better rider as soon as he left us, his replacement Nielsen looked good until he came to us and there is obviously something badly wrong in the pits with what seems like a total absence of any spirit
  14. These sort of comments are great comedy and as such bring much needed mirth. So Worrall couldn't ride the track, given his form this year is there any track he can ride? Actually a a better question to ask would be how was it the Witches No 1 was so awful and yet fair play to the visitors Heeps, Risager and Tungate all had better meetings at Rye than for a very long time, Risager was particularly impressive and seem to cope ok. Just accept Worrell was awful and leave it there i think Irrespective of Len being the cause or not there are just too many rotten apples in the pits get rid of them. Think its harsh of some saying Anders left for reasons other than those stated. For me he needed a year out and not ride with a rod holding his back together, add a couple of hours on a plane pre meeting and no wonder he is in poor shape. 2015 get an ex rider in as team manager, get rid of those who are thinking they are too good for Rye, get rid of the sentimental approach to team building which leaves Kennett, Greenwood and possibly Mellgren if fit. Couple of Aussie additions who are much cheaper to finance than second rate European riders are always good for team spirit, someone young like Jack Kingston who will improve at reserve, sick and tired of watching middle age hasbeens riding otherwise i don't see how 2016 is possible....oh yeah and sever ties with Kent. Couldn't understand Belle Vue fans not wanting Garrity when we took him, well now we know the reason, take the money from Coventry if they want him and run, he might just last the remaining two years they have
  15. Fair play to Ipswich, against Rye who performed pretty well at home against a strong Somerset team and beating Newcastle convincingly. Terrible from Worrall and using RR Ipswich should have been beaten but Heeps was the big difference and well done to Risager who for once was the real deal around Rye For us Greenwood continues to impress and Edward does what he can with only erratic support. Think Anders has shown in his last couple of meetings he may have come back too early, hope the boy gets back to his best as it would be nice to see a rider who really cares about the club in the team for 2015.
  16. I dare say you are guilty of drink driving etc but don't suggest the majority of posters on here are too, you are way off the mark pal having seen first hand the results of morons drinking the night before then driving you should be more concerned that you didn't kill a kid rather than worry about failing a breath test, equally Darcy had he ridden would have put his friends and colleagues lives at risk.I doubt he will get nor deserve slack
  17. What ever the reason nothing mitigates a rider turning up under the influence of Alcohol. Not only is it his life that is at stake but those who race along side him. Drink in these circumstances is equally as or more dangerous than drugs and should be punished accordingly. If Mr Middleditch doesn't understand that then he should be nowhere near the Management of Sportsmen especially in such a dangerous sport. I say this as someone who considers himself a fan of Darcy
  18. Having seen one race at Gothenburg that cost us around six hundred pounds in flights and hotel and also having turned up at Gelsenkirken to find an empty car park an no GP on again at the cost of several hundred pounds and on both occasions just a note on the ticket office door explaining how to get a refund i expected a little more from BSI and a lot more in the way of sympathetic viewpoints from Speedway Star and got nothing. I could also mention the ridiculous Stockholm GP that saw us stuck on coaches being ferried elsewhere but of course on each of these occasions it wasn't the organisers responsibility.Chris you are of course right especially the "could not give two hoots about the supporters" comment. But of course those who pay naff all won't make any adverse comments as they are careful not upset their paymasters who are keen to maintain their undeserved squeeky clean reputation
  19. Stop the rot and get shot of Bunyan now, clearly disinterested, has under performed from day one and his attitude stinks. I'd rather have a raw novice in the team for the rest of the season Greenwood and Kennett are certainties the rest who knows
  20. Echo the sentiments, good well turned out rider, remember him well on trips to Canterbury with Rye House. RIP
  21. Comfortable home win for a change, wasn't that impressed with the witches at the previous meeting couple of weeks ago and with Kennet back to top form and the ever impressive Greenwood getting better each home meeting i can see nothing other than all three points for Rye. So pleased that this is the last meeting between our teams as it's getting a bit monotonous (no disrespect to Ipswich)
  22. Great top three for Newcatle on paper Robbo more erratic than ever prevented Newcastle from taking a point. Again Greenwood stood out and must be a shoe in along with Edward who has regained his confidence and Anders for next season The rest thanks but no thanks, sentiment should play no part with Luke and a team place, his home form is sketchy and that is his strength. If only Boxall could get a decent sponsor to supply the right kit he would be an eight point rider but he's not. Bye bye Bunyan can't remember the last time a rider has so under performed in his time with us and Garrity not worth talking about Sick to death of the unsatisfactory starts ruining meetings.
  23. Berwick running a meeting the night before 350 + miles??? six o'clock far better for the visitors and their fans than the normal 2pm As far as wednesday nights i think Len was pleasantly surprised by the last wednesday attendance especially with LakesIde trying to nick saturday nights
  24. Those knocking Berwick, their track and the racing it brings should think before they prattle on. The constraints they suffer when running with a track around a football pitch leaves them very little scope to improve their product. Do they want them to close? Any speedway is better than none especially at places like Berwick where from my many visits there they seem very proud to have their team. Have seen far less interesting meetings from tracks like Lakeside Wolverhampton Belle Vue Coventry on sky. Best wishes to Matty for a speedy recovery
