  1. Good all round performance from the Rockets only three last places said it all really. I honestly don't think the loss of Olly made a difference to the result only the margin Steve Boxall looked good but the star of the night for me was Kasper who still can't gate but his bike looked quick and his bravery when passing down the back straight was very impressive. Maybe more by luck than judgement the inclusion of Aspegren looks to make us quite a bit more potent around the big tracks. As for Peterborough they will no doubt come good, the thane the basis of a very strong team with a couple of exceptions
  2. Ridiculous that i am going to watch Rye House at Peterborough and we are minus one of our Assets (Edward Kennett) simply as he is needed to prop up an EL club. Complete disrespect for the PL which is being runined by EL clubs inability to have their own riders. Beggars belief.
  3. One week into the season and already i'm sick of it The idiot referee did her level best to ruin our first home match against Ipswich now the news that despite becoming a Rye asset Silver has come to an agreement whereby Edward Kennett will Ride for Lakeside whenever the clubs ride on the same night with Lakeside riding at Arena This is too crazy for words, there are a number of Friday night tracks in the PL so he stands to miss more than the odd meeting for instance April 10th at somerset. No thought from Silver for the few Rockets supporters who travel to watch them on their travels.
  4. Standing midway down the back straight i can say Nielsen's bike was missing and he was barely under power when Lykke hit him. by that time Bowen had got into third. I thought Nielsen should have been excluded but either way it was a four two or three all, the last thing it could have been was five one which was the result she chose, that was bad enough but to change her mind later was just as bad. Weak poor ref who seems hell bent on spoiling every meeting she goes near. That apart a fair result at one point i thought we would struggle to get the win. Encouraging performances from the two new boys, disappointment from Eddie and slightly worried about Anders, though when he gated he looked a different rider far too early to tell how our season will go but Ipswich will be right up there no doubt
  5. Cant understand all the negativity especially when it concerns Adam Roynon. Well done Shawn in your efforts. Amazing given how everyone seems to suck up to an American World Champion who like Penhall turned his back on British Speedway when it needed him most and yet feel the need to take a pop at your efforts to support a young British rider down on his luck once again. Beggars belief.
  6. As a Rye House supporter i wish Andre a happy, successful and injury free season. Have watched him with interest ever since he started. My type of rider he always gives it a go at Rye House, an entertainer and a very good one at that. Welcome back Andre
  7. Well the more names that are mentioned the more i like the shape of the team. Kyle is very good at this level and if he feels part of a quality side then i reckon he will have a good season. as for the Raiders they may well surprise a few this year. Despite the doom and gloom merchants i think the regulars at Rye will have a lot to like this season. can't wait.
  8. Well if it is so be it, yes some tracks like Belle Vue do suffer but when you have a good track Man like Bob Dugard then there are no problems 99% of the time. If the cars are coming and it helps the Business as whole to maintain Speedway then OK but there is always a darker side with multi disciplines at one arena.
  9. A good start. Andrew speaks a lot of sense, ok i doubt we will challenge the top end sides but for me the most important thing is the balance between solid scoring and actually helping to produce a rider that may emerge as a candidate for the Rockets in 2016. That would be success for the club in 2015
  10. People also need to respect the opinions of others who saw not only his poor performances but also his poor attitude towards the Rye House Club right from day one on Press and Practice day.The vast majority of fans understand and are supportive of riders, their injuries and financial struggles that are part of the sport. That said poor attitude has no excuse. I pay my money and have an opinion. Last year was very disappointing most of the riders underperformed but there were two who for me let themselves down badly with their attitude. No one forgot Garrity's injuries and had he not been so disrespectful towards the club and its fans this would have been a factor that was fully accepted. We've moved on getting a proper team man in and most will be satisfied.
  11. Give Garrity time he'll soon upset you when he sets his sights on a better deal elsewhere, did it at Belle Vue and repeated it at Rye. You'll get a clue when he starts sulking, don't seem bothered and turns up with rubbish equipment Lets hope not What stuck in my throat was the fact that he would be flying for Coventry on the telly then the next night with Rye was giving up because he didn't gate, plus turning up with kit that wouldn't have got him points at NL level. Real waster completely dishonourable, if he was man enough to front up with Silver rather than act like a kid he could have gone. You have to wonder if there was an outside influence in his ear. Have to say that when he left BV there were a few aces fans saying wait til you see the other side of him.
  12. Sensible option and a step in the right direction, who knows in a couple of years Andrew may have both the experience and inclination to run the rockets Lets hope the long term future of Rye House speedway has been strengthened but only time will tell
  13. Anyone with any knowledge of Anders would know that he is 100 percent effort. It was obvious to anyone that he was nowhere near fit, I think most would have liked to see him back from the start. If the fans were gullible about anyone it was Garrity.
  14. Not in the EU plus i doubt they would come here for peanuts anyway
  15. For me the best race tracks should share all the meetings of this type as long as they can handle the larger crowds. So sorry that can't include Coventry Leicester or Wolverhampton For me Scunthorpe, Kings Lynn, Peterborough, Sheffield and Somerset are best race tracks. Yes tracks like Coventry Kent and Poole have arguably better facilities but if the track doesn't produce the racing whats the point
  16. Why not settle you differences using personal messaging rather than use a Rye House thread. Sick of having to troll through pages of rubbish about other clubs petty arguments its of no interest on here
  17. No can't agree. What it has done has weakened the POTENTIAL of the team. Well Mr Garrity never lived up to the hype or his potential. I remember seeing Anders in his first season with Rye at Sheffied, he seemed bitterly disappointed with his showing as was sitting in the pits on the verge of tears. The boy always gives his all and is more likely to settle into a heat leader spot than Garrity ever was As far as being exciting a lot of the time it was because he was out of control (in more ways than one) Kelly Moran was exciting because he was far more than just potential Garrity sadly will never see such heights Happy we now have a much more settled and predictable seven. By complete accident we have dodged two bullets
  18. Yes had a motor cycle accident in Australia,at his club where he put in a lot of work i believe think it was Last year Taken from Pinjar Park FB page which is a speedway (Bikes and cars) outside Perth Sad news with the passing of former Australian International rider Trevor O'Brien. Trevor who was originally from the Northern Territory has been a resident of WA for many years since retiring from British League speedway. Trevor was a member of the famous Rye House Rockets from 1989-1993 and well remembered by many. A quiet man who loved his racing and a welcome sight in the pits at Pinjar Park over the past few seasons. From everyone at the SMCWA & Pinjar Park we offer the O'Brien family our deepest condolences, RIP Trevor O'Brien, 1966 - 2014.
  19. It may well be a decision that Rye will regret in the future. I understand his point though and with regard to the Aussies and New Zealanders I completely agree. With The Commonwealth history between our countries i find it somewhat strange that we treat them like third class citizens. To give, for example a Pole like the one from redcar who fell off about six times during the meeting last year a team place over an up and coming young Aussie is beggars belief. The Aussies coming over are generally talented and pretty loyal to British speedway especially when compared to some of the inept European riders we have had gracing british speedway. Has to be said that Len has never been a great employer of Australians in his time at Rye House which has always saddened me especially when you look at the likes of Parker, Lyons, Lemon Johnno and many others. For me two of the best at Rye were Glen Baxter and the late Trevor O'Brien both arriving shortly after Len Left. Seems a shame but the bad experiences with Nelson seem to have soured his view on his holding the tier two sponsorship which it seems was a rider problem rather that an Authoritarian one i doubt it will be only Len who can't be bothered and i certainly don't think it will have anything to do with being "Old school". Well no not everyone has broken the law in such a way. You only have to watch one of the many border control programmes to show how hot Australia and New Zealand are when granting even Tourist Visa's as are the Americans. Seems like its a twit for tat attitude shown by us in this regard. As for the security thing that hardly helps as it means they clearly look in more detail at each application. Doesn't mean i agree with them just pointing out what has become fact these days.
  20. Pleased to see Robin in the side, shame about Nelson but to be fair with his comments on Facebook last year he let himself down badly and he's not the sort of person i particularly want to be around my team so no loss really
  21. No rush at all It doesn't mean too many meetings quite the reverse...last season so few meetings completely disjointed season with so many variations in start times race days etc. Much better this season and to be fair at Rye the NL team costs far less and is extremely unlikely to run at a considerable loss but in running may well unearth a decent prospect like Danny Ayres which will make the season worthwhile for the Promotion What really makes me laugh is the constant barrage of complaint against Silver for announcing his sides too early and for once a side hasn't been named early and the complaints still roll in. Chill out the NL season will start later i would think and just because names are not announced doesn't mean riders haven't been signed. Me I can't wait for the season to start and for once with a decent fixture list we may not have to endure umpteen visits from Ipswich which has become boring for both sets of fans
  22. Sick and tired of watching....rider rolls then misses the start so no advantage gained but race still stopped , the riders even at NL level then copy the GP's going back to the pits to have their spoonful of fuel (even at a track the size of Mildenhall) and of course not forgetting the obligatory hair dryer on the clutch The dozy refs then wait another minute or two before considering putting on a fresh two minutes All adds boring time to a meeting while standing in the freezing cold. Is there more of a turnoff? 1. Bit of common sense applied in the stopping of races, Ref to put on a ONE minute warning as soon as the race is stopped for rolling at the start thus preventing riders re entering the pits, Mechanics not allowed back on track for any reason. 2. Serial Offenders to be weeded out, I like watching James Sargent but i saw quite a lot of him last year and on average 50% of his races were called back as unsatisfactory starts, simply annoying
  23. What people don't understand is that unlike Football there are many fans like myself that not only love their club but love the sport. I generally attend 60 to 80 meetings a year and there are many of us that do that. In entry and programme fees I spend upwards of £1200 a season before I look at fuel costs. I do it because I love it but it makes my £750 contribution to watching premier league football look like peanuts. What always makes me laugh is the suggestion that speedway has fewer meetings per week and that that will magically make attendances increase, nonsense when will people learn the speedway has few fans and that the figures are massaged by multiple meeting attendees like myself.
  24. As a Rye House fan in the late seventies the one team I used to dread coming to Rye was Newcasle. Always a well supported team with great riders. As top div 2 riders go it was difficult to see past Mini Mauuger Lou Sansom when he rolled up with Workington but the very best surely has to be Joe Owen. A class act in every respect, a great loss to Speedway when Joe had his accident but he remains a rider forever etched in my memory
