  1. I have decided to get rid of all of my old Speedway Star magazines. With the exception of November 22 2003, I have every issue from March 17 2001 to January 7 2006. If you would like to be the lucky recipient of almost 5 years worth of speedway, then I would suggest you get in contact ASAP! PS Posting all of the magazines would be very costly, so they will need to be collected. I live in Ipswich - up the Witches!!!
  2. Have you got any wiring or plumbing you want doing? Talk about easy money!
  3. Personally I would say they were excuses, but I'm happy to agree to disagree on that subject. I would however agree that we are struggling for riders who are proven on the big stage, although on recent form we might struggle for one top rider let alone three!!!
  4. I would say that most people go to watch their team win, preferably in the most entertaining manner possible. From what I saw of the meeting tonight neither of these were evident from Team GB. As for being negative, far from it - I am just facing up to the fact that Team GB aren't good enough. Fact. (PS Feel free to prove me wrong Team GB - go on, I dare you!)
  5. Maybe, maybe not. But no amount of team spirit would make up for the fact that Team GB simply aren't good enough. We had our best chance of winning a few years ago but Middlo couldn't win it for us then, why would it be any different now with a weaker team?
  6. There is no way Lynch should have said this, it was not the best way of motivating Allen and Stead was it? And what would have happened if either of them had scored big points tonight (unlikely given current form and the strength of the opposition but possible). I don't think we should consign him to the scrap heap just yet though, he's only had one meeting in charge of Team GB after all...
  7. Would Middlo really have done any better tonight? Assuming he had picked Kennett and Woffinden instead of Stead and Allen, would GB have won? Not a chance. Team GB had their chance to win the World Cup under Middlo, and missed out. They aren't going to get another chance any time soon, not with Denmark, Australia and Poland around, whether Middlo was still manager or not. People need to face reality - no matter who rides for GB and who manages them we aren't going to win, the best we can hope for is to get to the final and make up the numbers and rebuild for the future - sadly a very distant future based on the current pool of GB riders.
  8. The final has only just finished?! Must've been a VERY slow time....!!!
  9. I'm thinking of heading to Italy for a weekend, to coincide with the first GP. Does anyone have tips on where best to fly to, how to get from the airport to Lonigo, accommodation in Lonigo, etc etc. Any info gratefully received!
  10. For 'one track crap' Gollob did very well to finish in the top eight - again...
  11. QUOTE(ezekiel @ Aug 13 2006, 07:55 AM) Time to give my verdit on the Hans vs Nicholls incident. Even though I'm slightly biased towards Hans I really can't decide who was at fault! Nicholls gave Hans a nudge, Hans was leaning over Nicholls on the straight, Nicholls appeared to give Hans the slightest of nudges just before he fell, but I wouldn't say it would be enough to see Hans go over. So. Ezekiel, what is your verdict? Jury rooms are not furnished with fences!........ What some people are forgetting are the conditions. If the conditions had been better then I don't think Hans would have slid off. I think Nicholls was unlucky, very unlucky, as the ref's decision could have gone either way... * ...........and neither are referees' boxes. The man had to decide one way or t'other. He was bound to upset some and please others. I still haven't decided...!

  13. Looks like Mark got a 4-ride paid maximum tonight, guesting for Eastbourne - it might have been against a depleted Hammers team but he was the only 'Eagle' to get one!
  14. I never thought I'd see the day when I actually agreed with a Poole fan!!!
  15. Mark was interviewed at the Ipswich meeting last night and said that he was hoping to get another crack at the GP series. He feels he is hitting the same form as when he was World Champ and that Richardson has had his chance in the GPs after 3 seasons. Personally I think that it would be great to see Mark in the GP series again - the current format should suit him a lot more than the old format. Nicholls should finish in the top 8 and qualify for next year, and surely the powers-that-be would want to have at least 2 Brits in the series. Richardson surely won't get another chance, and apart from Mark who else is there? I really hope that Mark does get picked for the series next season, if he was then I'd be very tempted to go to more GPs than just Cardiff...
  16. I don't remember seeing any incident involving Hans and Nicholls last night, but then from where we were standing (and with the amount of time I had to look down to try and fill in more of my programme!) that isn't surprising. I think people sometimes forget that Hans and Nicholls really don't seem to get on (probably stemming from their spell together at Ipswich) and that they are both guilty of being rather too aggressive at times. Hans is known as a hard rider, but Nicholls isn't squeaky clean himself (those who saw what happened to Jaros at Foxhall earlier this season will know exactly what I'm talking about!). People keep saying that Nicholls shows determination, but when Hans, Pedersen, Crump or others do the same then they are being too hard. So if you criticise Hans then you have to criticise Nicholls (and Pedersen for that matter) just as much... They are all passionate about the sport, and when winning the World Cup is at stake who can blame them?
  17. Couldn't agree more. Adams was below par, Sullivan is no-where near the world number 3 he was a few seasons ago, and McGowan always looked a weak link for them. Wiltshire comes out of the meeting with a lot of credit, especially after his awful looking crash in his first heat...
  18. We left before the playing of the Danish national anthem and didn't see the bottle throwing incident but that sort of behaviour is totally uncalled for. One of the great things about speedway is the good sporting relationship between different sets of fans, from different clubs and countries. The last thing we want to happen is for speedway to go the same way as football...
  19. A bit harsh calling him a cheat - because if you do then there are a lot of cheats in speedway. I've seen plenty of riders rolling at the start (Protasiewicz was even excluded for it a few weeks ago at Foxhall), so if he is clever enough to get away with it then good luck to him.
  20. A long shot could be Kim Jansson... You heard it here first!
  21. I'd go for... A. Smith R. Holta J. Doncaster L. Richardson G. Havelock
  22. I'm praying that Denmark win tomorrow as I've just put a fiver on them!!! Personally I think that they'll make it, along with Poland - I just hope that Poland end up behind the Danes...
  23. Middlo might not choose Harris though, if he goes for experience then Louis could well get the nod...
