  1. The no Bpts was used successfully in the NL in 1989-1990 and didn't result in any average fiddling .The one guest rule has been used before in the lower league and again worked reasonably well , the only problem will be if you have all three heat leaders injured. It will pay to have a strong top 3 next season, you can cover better with R/R and the golden double. Can't see too many teams using untried youngsters though, you don't want to have a long tail especially away, unless you have a super reserve partner.
  2. I would think the rule will be the same as used in the KOC last season.i.e you can use it whenever you're 8 down.I bet you're not allowed to move your heat leaders out of 1,3 and 5, meaning it will be harder to win races away, to get 6 points and possibly leading to run-away home wins?
  3. I wonder if anyone who wants this 40pt limit has actually thought about what it would mean team building wise. Consider the season just finished.Glasgow finished 12th,we rode for the most part with two heat leaders. If we had a 40pt limit and wanted to use our own assets plus those who rode last season on loan to us this could be our team: 1.Stancl 9.13 2.Leverington 4.57 3.Brady 5.89 4.Henry 5.67 5.Grieves 8.41 6. an other 3.00 7. an other 3.00 Total 39.67 This doesn't take into account any possible reductions. Not that it would make much difference(0.36) Just imagine you were Workington or Edinburgh, with their top two, almost half would go right away. What it would do would make the heat leaders averages shoot way up due to easier rides, making it impossible for the out of work riders to come in as teams would be way over 40. Try it with your own team and see what you come up with. It's a frightening thought.
  4. Got to be Brian Nixon(Tigers reserve) beating Newcastle no 1 David Bargh at Rough Pk in the 1991 KOC semi-final. Nixon had been discarded by the Diamonds earlier that year because he couldn't ride the track!!

    Charlie Monk

Despite not seeing him ride for the Tigers,I would say he is one of the all time greats. He still holds the record for the best average in a season for Glasgow(1967) and is the second highest points scorer in Tigers' history. Yes, I believe he was robbed of a place in the 1965 World Final after being wrongly excluded for knocking off Ken McKinlay(an ex-Tiger!).
  6. I think Motherwell ran only 1 match in 1972 although they had a New Year long track match
