  1. Just because riders haven't been announced don't think they aren't already sorted. As for Buxton the reason why we cant attract the big names is solely down to money and the fact that we wont bankrupt the club ,in doing so. However, we are here some 20+ years later so it cant all be bad and rest assured we have our riders in place just working on the announcements as I'm sure the other clubs are.
  2. He has dual nationality and has a current British Passport.
  3. Announcements regarding the team are being made on a regular basis. Rest assured all is in hand regarding team members. As for running on a Sunday morning that's a no go as far as we are concerned due to work commitments. We have run for over 20 years on a Sunday afternoon at 3pm with relatively few problems and have no plans to change that.
  4. Don't see why they cant just tell the truth.
  5. Not quite correct - this rule was in existence prior to last year but somehow got omitted from the rule book in 2015. It has now been reinstated but the rider must still be under 25 as it was brought in to help the younger British riders.
  6. Maybe it is not if any profit needs to be split three ways and it is felt that the amount isn't enough when shared around. I can't speak for Stoke but at Buxton we are not taking a wage from the club hence why our definition of financially viable is lower than others.
  7. Apologies hadn't realise that had been introduced
  8. Not necessarily it depends on if he was racing in the NL under partiality grounds or as a British Passport holder. If it is the former then yes he would be a 5.00 in the PL whilst the latter would be a 3.00 in the PL.
  9. He manages to get around Buxton pretty well so think he will be ok.
  10. Your guess is as good as mine. We had originally planned for it to be on the 20th but now Kings Lynn don't want to do that date so who knows now.
  11. There will be refreshments available in the bar including hot drinks Don't know why it hasn't been updated as this was altered on the 19th August.
  12. Please note that this is the postcode the Raceway use and if followed to the letter does not take you to the track itself as it is a nearby farm. There are signs though on the lane telling you where to stop following the sat nav.
  13. Totally agree the last few heats were all about who gated first and got round but unfortunately the referee ruled that the meeting continued.
  14. The 13th Sept is the cut off date for qualification to the Gold cup competition - don't think you have anything to worry at there regardless of any outstanding fixtures
  15. off to the track now - no problems at the moment.
  16. Meeting is on at the moment. We have had no rain since Friday and the track is good to go. Fingers crossed the forecasted rain arrives after the meeting.
  17. The 2015 National League season begins at Hi-Edge this Sunday 26th April with the visit of last season’s runners-up Coventry Storm. Storm who are amongst this season’s title favourites will prove a stern test for the home side and include ex-Hitman Stefan Farnaby amongst their number. Manager Jason Pipe is under no illusion how tough his debut could be but feels it is a challenge his riders are up for ‘This Sunday is going to be a tough start for the lads, but I believe we are capable of beating one of the title favourites, if they all race to their capabilities. This is a very good test for us to start our league season’ Pipe however was keen to stress the learning curve his charges were now on ‘After a late start to the season we now go in to these 5 meetings in 2 weeks, which should give us a good idea to how we are going to shape up as a team this season. I will learn a lot about my riders over these next couple of weeks.’ He will however have cope without promising reserve Paul Bowen who has broken a collarbone. Bowen is understandably upset by the news ‘After coming off the bike last Tuesday and being told come back to the fracture clinic on Wednesday, turns out I've fractured my collarbone. The consultant said 4 weeks recovery I’m gutted not be able to ride my first national league match this weekend’ The club have acted quickly in finding a short term replacement for Bowen with David Holt coming in as cover for the next few meetings. Pipe was philosophical at the loss of Bowen ‘Agreement has been reached with David Holt, who will come in and cover for Paul Bowen in the next 3 meetings, starting on Sunday at home to Coventry. Paul has a hairline fracture near to the sternum, after crashing in a recent practice session at Buxton. He was hoping to test his shoulder next week with a view to riding again next weekend, but I've told him to not rush back and get himself fixed properly first. Being based in Chorley, he's arranged to go in to an oxygen chamber in Morecambe, to help with the healing process. It's hoped that Paul can return for our away trip to local rivals Stoke on Saturday 9th May. We will assess the situation nearer the time and need to see him back on a bike first before I'm confident and he is, of him returning to the side. He welcomed David Holt to Hi-Edge ‘I'd like to welcome David to Buxton and thank him for stepping in to help the club out. Going on his previous scores in the MDL around Buxton, I'm hopeful of him coming into side and scoring a few points, especially when we need them over the next couple of Sunday's against Coventry & Cradley!’ The meeting at Hi-Edge Raceway begins at 3.00pm. The line-ups Buxton Hitmen 1 Tony Atkin 8.14 © 2 Ryan Blacklock 4.55 3. 3.Tom Woolley 4.11 4 Adam Extance 5.08 5 Ben Hopwood 7.28 6 Cameron Hoskins 3.00 7 David Holt 3.00 Team Manager: Jason Pipe Coventry Storm 1. 18. for some reason this rule was altered in the rulebook last year and you can now nominate anyone regardless of average or scores on the night
  19. Meeting rained off just after start time. Readmission tickets valid for any meeting this season.
  20. The 2015 Speedway season begins at Hi-Edge this Sunday 12th April with the visit of a Redcar Cubs select team led by Ex-Hitman favourite Jade Mudgway. Also in the visitors ranks are former riders Rob Branford and Stefan Farnaby who will be keen to do well on their return to the Dales. The clash has added spice for Hitmen manager Jason Pipe who will be facing his old charges from the North-East ‘it will feel a bit strange as I'll be in the opposite corner for the first time and there will be one or 2 fans wondering if I'm going to be giving Redcar a bit of a chance?! But I can assure Buxton fans that I will be taking this meeting very seriously, like I will with all our meetings and I'll certainly have our lads fired up. It may be just a challenge in some peoples’ eyes but for me this is a 'must' win meeting, because I can't have my old club getting one over on me! Imagine the stick I would get on a Thursday night at Redcar if Redcar were to beat Buxton!!!’ The meeting is an opportunity for the Hitmen to put behind them the disappointment of the away defeat at Scunthorpe on Bank Holiday Monday when they went down by 11 points. A full strength home side should be a different proposition. The meeting at Hi-Edge Raceway begins at 3.00pm. The line-ups Buxton Hitmen 1 Tony Atkin 8.14 © 2 Ryan Blacklock 4.55 3. 3.Tom Woolley 4.114 Adam Extance 5.08 5 Ben Hopwood 7.28 6 Cameron Hoskins 3.00 7 Paul Bowen 3.00 Team Manager: Jason Pipe Redcar Cubs 1. 21. BW Double - not sure what you want us to do. The team is complete with the exception of a number 8. We are working on that along with the MDL riders as was reported in last weeks speedway star. The fixtures are complete and on the website. We are working on the many maintenance jobs that need doing at the track again as was reported last week, including replacing most of the fence posts and kickboards which have deteriorated in the bad weather. Nothing significant has changed and we had no new news to report on Monday which is the deadline for the speedway star. We have today finalised the details for press and practice and a meet the riders evening details of which will be released as soon as the press release has been drafted and which will hopefully be in next weeks edition.
  22. NL fixtures have always been compiled after the PL and EL. This is due to two main reasons - the date for declaration of intent to run is later in the NL than the others in order to give every opportunity to teams to be able to compete and to minimise the amount of fixture clashes for riders who are also riding in the PL or EL. This years fixtures are currently being compiled and we would hope to have a draft listing in the next few days which once approved by all clubs will be released at the earliest opportunity. It is not the easiest of jobs trying to keep everyone happy with the dates that they want and don't want and there is usually someone who wants to change something hence the fixture changes that happen each year.
