  1. Has been raining on and off but the sun is out now and the forecast is for it to remain dry with temps at 21.
  2. The difference being that Buxton are trying to get a play off spot and this match could be important. Im sure if the Saints were in the same position they would want to track the best possible team for a rearranged meeting. You dont have a squad in the NL only a 1-8 so if you have several riders missing then you can only replace the others with 3 pointers.
  3. Hopefully its second time lucky today as Buxton take on the Islanders in a National Trophy meeting with the first staging falling victim to the weather. Tony Atkin guests for the Hitmen whilst the Islanders are at full strength.
  4. But that is only three points difference when it should be four!!!!
  5. Won't be bank holiday Monday as too many riders missing.
  6. In the NL all riders are paid by their own club for both home and away matches. In the EL and PL the home promotion pay both sets of riders at an agreed rate with the riders own club paying any top ups or extras as necessary.
  7. Its the BSPA that hold a bond for every track. Doubt it would cover the money village idiot states is owed to the riders in this case though.
  8. Thanks Bob just got home with the journey seeming shorter after a good result for us. A good meeting tonight with everyone playing their part.
  9. Not in the NL it doesn't. You are only permitted a guest for your number 1. You can use r/r for any other rider missing from the 1-5 and after that it is use your number 8 or an unattached 3pt rider.
  10. Just a reminder that this meeting replaces the original fixture against Mildenhall today, weather permitting.
  11. Yes the Islanders have indeed at very short notice agreed to visit Buxton on Sunday in place of Mildenhall who have pulled out of the fixture. The Islanders have Tony Atkin guesting for Nick Simmons whilst the Hitmen operate r/r for Nick Morris and move Lewis Dallaway into the team to replace the unavailable Jonathon Bethell. James Sarjeant will fill the other reserve berth for the Hitmen alongside Jason Garrity.
  12. One hotel I spoke to said the rooms aren't released yet and that's why they are all showing as booked.
  13. Martin Here goes: Rules 17.3.2.2 refers to a Commonwealth rider with no previous UK riding experience , permitted under Border Agency Regulations, may ride on a 6.00 NL CMA. 17.4.7.Commonwealth riders as permitted (see 17.3.2.2) subject to a maximum of 2 per club are limited to ride for a maximum of 2 consecutive seasons which must be with that same club. They cannot ride for any EL/PL team under any circumstance, even as a guest. I'm not an expert on immigration rules but as I understand it the youth mobility visa replaced the old working holiday visa. When the subject of allowing Commonwealth riders into the league came up (when it was the CL) we were told they could only ride if they had the youth mobility visa. You are quite right in stating that they cannot be a professional sportsperson on this visa and should not receive payment for such activities. I dont know what the answer is and how this applies to people under 18. I would presume if they dont qualify for the visa they shouldn't be able to ride but would guess that's down to the SCB and how the rule is interpreted. It's a very thorny subject as it is a legal requirement to have the correct visa (if one is required) to work in this country. Without it you are risking penalties from the Borders Agency.
  14. You will have to make your own mind up on that one. The current situation is not good, too many teams are paying PL money to riders and I feel that the league has lost its way from its original intention. Now it is all about money and I fear that several teams will not be lining up next year mine included as we cannot sustain the financial outlay especially in the current economic climate. Costs have increased drastically from the CL days as riders demands are higher and loan and transfer fees are taken into account. The days of a development league are behind us and it is not good for British speedway. The league standard is too high for development to be its aim as a whole and cannot be sustained by several clubs. Riders demands though impact on all three leagues as if you can get £25 - £30 in the NL what do you expect in the PL and EL? I don't blame the riders for this but everyone needs to see the bigger picture and until that happens things will only get worse.
  15. The Rye House promotion quite clearly stated at the start of the season that they were putting a team together to win the league and one which would improve crowds.
  16. Yes they are either with patriality or a youth mobility visa (tier 5). Does Tyson have either?????
  17. Weather update - still dry no rain so far.
  18. No r/r Nick unfortunately didnt find out in time to get down to Buxton.
  19. Its actually a youth mobility visa (tier 5) but he hasnt got one of those either
  20. Work permit riders are not permitted in the NL so totally irrelevant whether Rye have a 'spare permit'.
