  7. Who does everyone think should be Great Britain's 5 at Coventry? I'd pick Nicholls, Harris, Richardson, Kennett and Woffinden. Let's face it, we're not going to win it, so putting someone like Tai in is the way forward.

From http://www.speedwayworld.tv/en/sgp/a8996: If a Super Prix event is won by a rider who has already qualified for the Super Prix Final, then the World Championship Final Classification following the completion of Heat 23 in Germany will determine who is awarded this place or places. At the Super Prix Final in Germany, if a rider has won more than one Super Prix he will take the starting gate colour of his first Super Prix win. eg. If he has won in Sweden (red) and Denmark (blue), the rider will have the red starting gate. If qualified riders are unable to participate in the Super Prix Final due to injury or other circumstances, they will be replaced using the World Championship Final Classification. A Wild Card or Reserve rider could qualify to the Super Prix Final in Germany. It is the placing in the Final of a Super Prix which determines who qualifies, not points.
  9. Why have America got three Conference League reserves in their team? Where's Hancock and Hamill? In Poland? Even if they are there, there's better riders like Josh Larsen, Chris Manchester, Brent Werner and Charlie Venegas. Sad to see a once great nation look so poor.
  10. When riders are racing inches apart whilst doing 50/60mph, you don't have time to react. Shutting off is not like applying a brake.
  11. The problem is Sky build him up like he's some kind of god. He wins a GP because someone else made a mistake and people think he's the best thing since sliced bread. Neither Harris or Nicholls deserve to be in the GPs next year. Most, if not all, British riders are overrated. I can't believe I picked both of them in the GP predicition game on this forum. British Speedway is in a poor state and will continue to decline until we have a set-up in place for kids similar to Sweden and Denmark.

  13. You can't see it from that angle, but Gollob looks left 18 seconds into the clip, as they enter the home straight. Someone in the Sky studio made a comment about Gollob looking back and they showed you the head-on angle a few seconds earlier than the clip. This incident should put an end to the 'I was in front so you can't exclude me' nonsense you get from riders. Gollob should have been excluded for cutting across him. If you allow riders to pick and choose whatever line they want, it will cause a lot of crashes like this one.
  14. Sky never show the presentation when they overrun so we didn't get to see it. I always thought whoever won the final was the winner, but Pearson made up a rule which confused people.
  15. Can someone pass the rule on to Pearson? Clearly he thought whoever scored the most points on the night won.
  16. They just say that to try and fool people in to thinking they are at the the track. Sky want them to say "back in Britain" and "here in Sweden". When the picture breaks up, Millard struggles and they go back to the studio. That's a tell-tale sign they aren't at the track.
  17. I don't know thanks to Pearson. If the graphic is right, Pearson was stupid by confusing everyone. He said Lindgren would win even if he didn't win the race because he had scored more points on the night.
  18. The way Pearson was talking in the final, I thought Lindgren had won it until the graphic came up saying Holta had won it. I didn't think we were ever going to hear what Andreas' condition was. It took ages to get the news, and even then Chris Louis wasn't sure.

  21. Reading Parsloes' post about David Osborne jogged my memory about a rider called Brian Allner who rode for Eastbourne Starlets. The 1996 Conference League yearbook gives a few lines about each riders season. For Brian it says "Suffered the worst possible debut in September, crashing in his first competitive ride and being knocked unconscious. Fortunately, the end result was only concussion but Brian did not ride again during 1996." I don't recall him ever riding again.
  22. They rode pre-war. The subject says post-war so I don't think they count.
  23. I remember a couple of instances in the 90s where a rider signed for a club but never rode. Sheffield signed Patrik Dybeck. He turned up for his first meeting, but demanded more money before the start. Stoke signed Chris Penny, but he never rode for them because he was injured and was soon replaced.
  24. If you're talking consecutive years, Andrzej Huszcza must be up there. According to his (Polish) wikipedia entry, he rode for Zielona Gora from 1975 to 2005 and PSZ Poznan in 2006 and 2007.
