Maybe it would be a good idea for Jayne or Richard to get in touch with someone like Doc Bridgett and get him to have a good look at the track. Perhaps get him to completely re-lay it. Ask him for advice. What quarries does he recommend to get shale from? How long should it be stored for before laying it? Are there any other materials that would help it bind better? Show him what plant you've got. Is there a wonder wheel, a spike harrow and a blade? I'm no expert on track prep, but these are the kind of questions that would help. The Buxton track must be one of the most difficult tracks to keep in good condition with it being so high up. The last two winters have been really bad. I wonder if the amount snow and ice they've had has made the base deteriorate? It's certainly had an effect on the roads with cracks and holes appearing.

The problem with internet polls is they can easily be rigged through a bit of computer know how, going on different machines at a library or getting a load of friends on facebook to vote. Reading through the different threads on here about this sad state of affairs, it seems to me that the number of people who simply want this matter to be solved without it going to court far outweighs those who do. In cases like this, the minority want to make themselves heard over the majority and are a lot more likely to vote which skews the numbers somewhat. If every forum member voted once you would get much more accurate figures.

A few times in the past, the season has run into November. Can't the meeting at Newport be held next week?

2010 Grand Prix Competition
Peter replied to ballinger's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
In my opinion, it would be fairer if you said something like "You may bring in riders that exceed the old value, provided it is within the £190,000 limit". The reason I say this is because some people have only spent £175,000. There is £15,000 in the bank that they can't spend. The total value of the riders I would like to bring in for the second period comes to £180,000, but it would mean me losing £10,000 in the final transfer window. What do other people think? -
2010 Grand Prix Competition
Peter replied to ballinger's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Nicki Pedersen as my captain please. If the competition carries on next year, maybe a rule could be introduced whereby injured riders are replaced by whoever is next in line (in Emil's case it would be Piotr Protasiewicz). -

British U15 Championship 2009
Peter replied to PhilK's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
What's going on with the British U15 championship? There was only 5 riders in the 500cc class and 6 in the 250cc class at Northside. Aren't the kids interested any more? Something needs to be done. It's supposed to be a national championship with 16 riders in each class. -
Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
Peter replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I wouldn't have a British wildcard. None of them are good enough. Tai will be in a year or two though. If the top 8 stays as it is (Crump, Sayfutdinov, Gollob, Hancock, Jonsson, Bjerre, Lindgren and Pedersen), I would have Hans Andersen, Matej Zagar, Niels-Kristian Iversen and Antonio Lindback as the four permanent wildcards. I know Swindon fans will probably disagree with me leaving Leigh Adams out but he has had his time. The Grand Prix needs younger riders and the four I've mentioned are exciting to watch. -

Charlie said on here Twitter page that they couldn't find a flight in time. Maybe they should have tagged along with Chris Holder. He managed to make it back. -

The problem with Ermolenko is that his mouth is ahead of his brain. It could have been worse tonight though. He could have been commentating! -

I don't know if it still happens but Channel 9 in Australia used to have a cartoon duck walking across the screen when a batsman got out and scored no runs. -

I'm a bit more concerned about Nigel Pearson. He was more interested in the possibility of a race being re-run than Adam Shields' injury. -
I would replace Kennett with Richardson and leave Nicholls out.

It was in 2004 and her name is Hayley Whitworth. She was born in Crewe and still lives there. Angela McAlden rode in the Amateur League for Lathallan in 1997.
-
It was those three and Sarah Cunningham (Glenn's sister). Simon's sister is called Julie, not Andrea.
-
Why not?! Are you suggesting they should be a certain standard before they can race? Do you think men who aren't as good as Jessica shouldn't ride too? If women get enjoyment out of it then they should do it regardless what level they are at.
-
Angela McAlden rode for Lathallan and Charly Kirtland rode for Club CH. Montana Jowett takes part in amateur meetings at Scunthorpe and Kelly Watkins used to compete at that level at Lydd. There are a couple at Southern Track Riders meetings too. There was a Queen of Herts race at Rye House a few years ago featuring Jessica Lamb, Paula Millin and Kelly Watkins. Charly Kirtland was down to be in it but didn't turn up. There were a few rumours flying around at the time as to why she no-showed like she didn't want to get beat by Jessica! I recall a Maxine Hill as well in the 80s. I think she did second halfs. Edit - There is/was another female rider who took part in amateur meetings at Scunthorpe. She's from Scotland. I can't remember her name though.

Wild Cards For 09
Peter replied to beesbarmyarmy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
There seems to be too much emphasis on making sure there aren't too many riders from the same country which is wrong in my opinion. Hampel should have been one of the wild cards whether there are already four Poles in there or not. -
The reason Scott doesn't go to the qualifying rounds is because he knows he will get a permanent wild card. They should have these qualifying rounds at neutral tracks like Debrecen (Hungary) and Elgane (Norway). Ulamek and Walsek only qualified because it was on a Polish track.

It was embarrassing watching Tomasz Gollob being presented with that yellow Super Prix trophy when we all knew he was going to go in blue. What a great idea that was!
