Youth Speedway Racing
Speedway Angel replied to morganbike's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Dekker, The problem is with all youths riding 80cc is it gets boring. I got bored on the 125cc after a few months and couldnt wait to try the 500cc!It isnt like myself and other youths are forced to ride the 500cc's we do it cos we enjoy it and want to make it somewhere in the proper leagues of this sport. The under 15s has been great and it is brilliant to see some of the future talent improve meeting by meeting.I can only hope il be racing alongside or against some of them before im 15 for me it would be a great challenge. If everyone under a certain age rode smaller cc bikes it would be boring for them and also boring for the crowd, youngsters like new challenges. Thats the thing speedway is called speedway cos its about the speed and yes when your riding right the only way you can make it round those bends is by slamming the throttle on, thats the excitement in it. The thing that noone realises is smaller cc bikes are sooo difficult to slide. Yes bigger cc bikes are more difficult to control and as most know you need strength but smaller bikes are hard to slide because there just isnt enough power, they are good for training on but not racing. -

When riders fall off sometimes they don't want their families to be around them. When i fall off when im injured i don't really like my sis, or my best mate being around me, its nice to know they care but they crowd the first aiders and you just want them to get on with their job. Some relatives can get panicky thats basicly why they don't let them onto the track. When im laid out on the track in pain the last thing i want is people around me especially histerical friends or family. I know it seems right to let family out because all these riders are at such a young age. I was watching from in the pits and the only time there were trackstaff etc around them was when there were 2 or 3 of them on the ground the first aiders can't do it all themselves. If you noticed when there was just George down on the floor many left just the first aiders. For example my sister she rides aswell as me when she crashes and doesnt get up its difficult to not run to see how she is. Like at Scunthorpe she went into the fence, i was able to get onto the centre green and to see her after wards but i wasn't allowed near her whilst on the track and its for the best because if relatives get hysterical it makes the rider hysterical sometimes. The pit marshall;/track staff were only doing as they are told. -

Who Was That On Thursday Night At Owlerton?
Speedway Angel replied to Jez's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
TigerTom....while im on this forum its not just lads....muahahahahaha! No just messin it is very daunting going on Sheffield after having ridden on the training track my first time on Sheffield was about 2 or 3 weeks ago and as i went up to those tapes my heart went in my mouth! It was sooooo nerve racking and going down that back straight its hard to catch a breath it seems to go so quickly. I found my self puttin more power on than i would dare to use on the training track cos its that small! Everyones greatest fear when riding on that track is people critisising or just the fear of not being able to make it round the huge corners! -

Hes a great kid is Jason and i know he's gonna do well! But then again when i watch alot of the lads (in between my own rides) at the training track its amazing to think all of these started on a little bike and mostly without a clue how to ride. Im proud of all my mates down there its like having another family! -

Thanks everyone for the nice comments its really appreciated. We have had a bit of a hard time of it lately us girls with family problems, bike problems and people have been expecting us to be riding alot better then we have been. I think the lad in the red kevlars you are referring to is Jason he is only about 10 and he is really good for his age. Most people at the training track are getting better now cos of the return of the good weather therefore better tracks its great! If any of you come down anytime this summer come and talk to me im not too scary. Im the one with the ex Carl Stonehewer kevlars on and the bike with Robbie Kessler covers on. Cheers everyone -

Well said Scunny Stag! I mean Josh is an excellent rider and he is a nice lad and everything but don't forget he may not be the only person that has a talent at this sport.I see him ride every Thursday at Sheffield in the second halves and he really does improve every time, but what about the riders that don't put themselves out there that much they still have a talent too. For example as alot of people will know i ride at Sheffield Training Track and i also rode on the opening meeting at Scunny in the Sheffield girls team, and to be honest none of us thought we did well on that day but on different tracks we do better. Like Josh is good on alot of tracks but there is always one track that every rider doesnt like cos they are not 100% on it. Ive seen alot of the people ridin at Sheffield Training Track and there are alot of talents there like this one lad (im not going to mention names) but he got on the 500cc not even 2 months ago and he is absolutely flying round that track. And there is a little lad on the 125cc at the training track and you can tell he has talent. So watch out everyone there is alot of young talent on its way. -
NEW LEAGUE FOR YOUNGSTERS
Speedway Angel replied to Phil's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Yeah we do get tired after school but then again on our last race in a day of training we're tired and it doesn't really cause accidents. To be honest i'm really looking forward to doing second halves or races after meetings because i get a chance to race with a bigger crowd. And with school the day after lack of sleep only applies to younger kids because teenagers like myself can cope with not alot of sleep.I mostly stay at speedway after meetings for quite a while and watch the second halves and things so to me it wouldn't be that tiring but i suppose it depends. -
